You can’t beat the devil unless you play his game.

I have no idea what I just read.
I’m pretty sure every single character in this book is completely and utterly screwed up.
I’m also pretty sure that I liked that more than I should have.
It was like an urban soap opera.
It was like (a hotter) book version of Empire.
I was ready to chuck my damn kindle at the wall with that ending.
I’m read to commit some sort of a sin to get my grabby little hands on the next book.
I’m going to go calm my tits now….
Oh you want a review, do you? Well then! Let me try to give you a semblance of one here.

So this book was…*scratches head*
A romance? *scratches chin*
A soap opera with some crazy drama, music, crazy as hell characters, multiple POVs of said crazy as hell characters, and some hot sex. *nods head enthusiastically*
Yes. That about sums it up.

The story centers around the Devil’s Music record label. Once upon a time, Delilah Bishop was set to inherit her father’s legacy, her beloved label. But a betrayal from the people she least expected ripped it all away from her. But she’s back and she wants revenge and she’ll spare no one in her way; not her past best friends. They are, after all, the ones running her label now.

Dante Bishop walked away from everything after he buried his father. He wanted no part of the label or the toxicity that came from the backstabbing life style it called for. That was his sister’s thing. Never his. Having his heart broken by the woman he thought he’d spend the rest of his life with only solidified his decision. But now opportunity has come knocking and he’s forced to come back into the lion’s den to help save the label and possibly get Delilah her legacy back. It also gives him the opportunity to get his revenge on the woman he once loved, Delilah’s ex-best friend and current COO of Devil’s Music.

Would I call this a romance? Not at the heart of it. There was so much MORE going on. The romance was certainly there but it wasn’t the focus for me, more like the cherry on the top. Lisa Marie Perry weaves a hell of a twisted tale here and it definitely sucked this reader in. The story is complex and multi-layered. So much so that it took me almost half the book to really get my head around ALL of it. Because there was A LOT. It was seriously like watching a super hot episode of Empire. It was completely different from anything I’ve read in the past and that hit the spot just right.

Add in the complex relationship between Chelsea and Dante and I was in hate lust heaven. There are a few more interweaving story lines that flow along with theirs and I’m practically salivating to get their stories.

As for that ending? Well, let’s just say if I don’t get the next book in my grabby little hands soon, I just may have to cut someone.

It’s hard to believe that this is now the twelfth book in this series. Seems like it was just yesterday first discovered and binged myself on this deliciously sexy series. I’ve been a huge fan, eagerly anticipating each installment. And now twelve books into it, it still doesn’t disappoint.

Heath Powell first caught my attention as the bodyguard in Wicked for You. Even as a secondary character, there was something so arresting about him that I simply couldn’t help but crave this story. After finishing this book, I can tell you that he definitely didn’t disappoint.

Heath is no stranger to tragedy in his life. Having lost his wife to tragic violence, he’s never moved on and never made the effort to heal. He’s been moving through life, one unattached hookup at a time. While he fancied himself in love with Mystery, he’s lost her to Axel and he’s ok with that. Now a stunning beauty that wants nothing more from him than his protection and professional opinion has captivated him beyond reason…if only he can convince her how hot they can burn.

Jolie Quinn is a take no prisoners business woman. The last thing she wants to do is end up liker her flighty mother, moving on from one failed marriage to the next. She doesn’t need a man to define her. She’s focused on one thing only; her career. So why is the sexy Brit determined to protect her from a threat to her life and business suddenly makes her want to give in, if only just once?

Heath Powell was like a beacon she couldn’t help but home into.

I’ll admit that I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t click with Heath and Jolie’s connection at first. Having lost his wife so tragically and then knowing of his feelings for Mystery, I was afraid that I’d feel like he was settling. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I love the way the author pulled it off. Their relationship was certainly on a fast track, but I was invested from start to finish.

Jolie was exactly the sort of heroine I gravitate to. She was tough, doesn’t take any crap from anyone, and has a quick wit with a sharp tongue. There’s also something so vulnerable about her that seems to come out only when she’s around Heath.

With a whimper, she melted, clinging, in desperate need of an anchor. She’d worry later about how she would recover from this total breakdown of her defenses. Right now, his touch felt once-in-a-lifetime. This thing between them engulfed her, consumed her whole. She craved even more.

Holding On Tighter was a sexy, action packed, thrill ride that had me glued to the pages from beginning to finish. I loved seeing all my past favorites and a few new faces that I can’t want to learn more about. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this series.

The story continues immediate where The Pawn left off. If you haven’t read that yet, this is a continuation and not meant to be read as a standalone. I’ll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible but some mild spoilers from The Pawn may slip in. So if you haven’t read that yet, be warned, you may want to stop reading this review.

Gabriel may have let Avery go after their night together, but his hold on her is far from broken. This is a woman that doesn’t just lie down and take it, she’s a fighter, and I seriously loved that about her. Her desire for a man that she should hate is confusing but undeniable. Gabriel wants her for the 30 days they agreed to, and he’s not about to let her out of the arrangement so easy.

I always want him. In my dreams, in the dark. A secret desire I’m afraid to admit to myself.

Gabriel continues to be an enigma for a good portion of the book. The man is utterly unforgettable. I read book 1 weeks before and I couldn’t stop thinking about him. There’s just something about his presence that’s so completely captivating, he owns the pages.

I want you in every way and place and time. I want you so fucking bad I wish I could stop, because it goddamn hurts.”

We finally do get to see the vulnerable part of the impenetrable man that was hinted at in book one, and I can’t wait to see the final chess pieces fall. There’s a mystery that weaves around the romance that’s just as fascinating as Gabriel. The Knight is packed full of twists and turns I never saw coming and it’s a book that kept me riveted to the pages from beginning to end.

I love a dark romance that doesn’t turn to shock value and gratuitous violence to keep the readers glued to the pages, and Skye Warren truly blew it out of the park with this series. I just finished it and I already can’t wait for more. I’m hoping book 3 will bring us the conclusion to this story, because well, let’s be real, it’s a surprise my ADD has lasted this long. Trilogies are usually not my thing, but I’m gobbling this one up and eagerly anticipating the conclusion.

This was a perfect read to spend a weekend afternoon with. It was steamy with just the right amount of sexual tension. Carrie was sassy to Blake’s broody and together it was the perfect mix. Sometimes a girl just needs a steamy little number with just the right amount of story and sizzle, and this hit the spot just right for me.

Firstly, this is getting a star simply for including a cameo from two of my favorite guys; Tate and Logan from the Temptation series. Raaarrrrr!

This was fun and so sexy, it almost set my kindle on fire. Sure the ending was a little too cheesetastic, but I didn’t even mind. I loved the long lost twin thing. Jackson Stone is the sinner to his twin’s saintly reputation. Coming off a bitter divorce and still reeling from the revelation that his family is all a lie, he’s not looking for a relationship. Walking into his brother’s bar to meet the brothers that he never even knew he has is already rocking his world enough, he’s not expecting the carnal and primal reaction he instantly has to the beautiful bar manager, Tara.

Tara is a wounded soul, with her own past demons, but the temptation of Jackson is too much to resist for her.

This was a fun and sexy romp that I read in one sitting. It hit the spot just right and I can’t wait for the spin off with Jackson’s best friend.

Sometimes the line between good and bad isn’t so black and white. Sometimes it’s somewhere in the very depths of gray. And that’s exactly what you get with Naz. This is a man that’s done plenty of bad things and makes no apologies for it. He fully accepts who he is and what he’s become. He’s a man driven by pain and revenge. A man that’s sold his soul to the devil for a chance at vengeance. But Karissa has changed him irrevocably. He’ll still go to war and cover the streets in blood, but now it’s all for her.

She’s trying to be unbreakable but I’m unshakeable. She’s going crazy, and I’m already goddamn insane. I clipped my jailbird’s wings so she couldn’t fly away from me, and then I wonder why the fuck I can’t make her soar.

Being inside his head was an experience of dark and darker. And while you know it’s wrong, you just can’t find it in you to care even a little bit.

Torture To Her Soul was exactly what I hoped and so much more. J.M. Darhower knows how to weave one hell of a story and she’s a master of words. She’s given me some of my favorite mafia anti-heroes and I hope she never stops.

Second chances don’t come easily. Most people don’t get them. Most people don’t know what it’s like to come back from the brink of death. It changes people. It certainly changed me.

Force of Temptation brings more of Suzanne Wright awesome. A sassy heroine, a badass possessive hero, the whole gang of awesome secondary characters that I’ve grown to love, and a whole lot of sexy times!

I’ll admit, I barely registered Jesse in the previous book but boy did he have my attention here. The man was possessive, protective, and exudes so much sexual potency I honestly broke a sweat reading.

Harley Vincent is exactly the sort of heroine I love to read about; strong, independent, and with one hell of a smart mouth on her. Being the daughter of the man currently serving a murder sentence and being suspected of being the mastermind behind The Movement makes her a bit of a persona non grata with shifters. Never truly having a pack of her own, she’s been living in the human world. She’s always liked Jesse. They grew up in the same pack, but she believed that he blamed her for his druggie sister’s death like the rest of his pack did. So she left and hasn’t seen him since. But when her life is in danger, Jesse is done with watching her from afar and waiting for her to be ready. He may have lost his true mate as a young boy, but he’s not about to let the woman he loves get away.

Full of humor, sexy times, great characters and all wrapped around a fantastic story that I enjoyed from beginning to finish.

But in all seriousness, what the hell?!! Ever since the woman made the announcement of her upcoming duet, Lost in Between, I’ve been practically salivating for it. The she tells me there’s a novella for this couple in this anthology, so of course I jumped at the chance to read it. I was like a sex addict at a porn convention. I was ALL OVER IT. And by it, I mean the book. Where did your mind go, dirty bird? But I digress.

I will tell you nothing of the book. NOTHING. One, because I’m evil like that. And two, because I don’t want to spoil a thing for you. But what I will tell you is that if this doesn’t whet your appetite for Shaw and Willow’s story, roll over, you’re dead. You’d have to be not to be an angsty, salivating, crazed and sexually frustrated mess at the end of this little tease. And that’s what it is. A DAMN TEASE. But damn, it hurt SO GOOD. Now bring on the book before I hurt someone here!!!!

For the record, per your email with the subject heading, ‘I Wonder If He Eats Pussy’…” He looked me up and down. “I do eat pussy, and if I ever was going to eat your pussy…If that thought had ever been filthy enough to cross my mind and certain circumstances between us were different, you wouldn’t be able to walk for days after I was done with you…”

It’s official. I’m naming my left ovary Michael. He totally owns it so it’s only right. Whitney G already owns my right one, so I figure it’s fitting.

This was a fun sized bite of Whitney’s usual brand of snarky and steamy enemies to lovers trope. It’s a read in on sitting type of story and the perfect way to pay a cold weekday night with. Don’t expect much character development here because that’s not what it is. It’s a super fun and super steamy hot, manwhore, millionaire boss falls for his sassy assistant story. Michael is an uber successful CEO of a publishing house. The only thing he goes through quicker than his one night stands are his executive assistants, because while he may be ridiculously sexy and rich, he also happens to be a bear to work for. In other words, the man is an a-hole.

Mya has lasted longer working for the man than any other assistant he’s ever had, but it hasn’t been an easy road. The man is demanding, rude, and much to her dismay still gets her engine revving. One email ending up in the wrong inbox finally leads to a break in the super thick sexual tension they got going between them and BAM! Fireworks.

I love Whitney’s books because she always delivers on one of my favorite tropes; enemies to lovers. She brings the snark, the humor, the sass, and the steam all in one extremely fun read. There’s nothing I love more than an alphahole…except maybe a reformed manwhore alphahole. So of course I loved Michael. Mya was sassy and smart and gave as good as she got. I loved these two together.

My one complaint is that super abrupt and I mean ABRUBT ending. It came out of nowhere. I kept scrolling hoping for more, but alas that was all she wrote…pun intended. I get that I’m reading a novella, but I think an epilogue would have been a good way to wrap it up for me.

That aside, I still enjoyed this book quite a bit and can’t wait for more from Whit!
