ARC Review: ☆Tempting Her Best Friend (What Happens in Vegas)☆ by @Gina_L_Maxwell

A satisfying contemporary romance from Entangled’s Lovestruck imprint…

Alyssa Miller is tired of waiting for her next-door neighbor to see her as more than just his best friend. Ready to let off some steam, she heads to Las Vegas for a romance book convention where, if she’s lucky, she’ll get down and dirty with one of the sexy cover models.

Dillon Alexander doesn’t do commitment—especially not where his best friend is concerned. She deserves a man who can give her the world, not damaged goods. But when he realizes Alyssa intends to have a one-night stand on her vacation, he hauls ass after her to make surehe’s the one to scratch her itch.

Neither of them expects their explosive chemistry to burn hotter than the lights on the strip, but with a little help from Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, a flamboyant matchmaker, and TSA, what happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas…

4 What Happens in Vegas Stars

To love someone is to know fear. Gut-wrenching, soulcrushing fear. Fear that your love won’t always be enough. Fear that something terrible could rip them away from you. There are dozens, hundreds of scenarios, but they all come down to the same thing: when you love someone with all your heart, the scariest thing imaginable is having to live without them.

If you’re looking for an easy, romantic, steamy and cute read, you really can’t go wrong with this book. The friends to lover trope is a tried and true method, and never fails to bring on a smile to my face, especially when it’s written by the fabulous Gina Maxwell. Gina puts her own spin on falling for your best friend with a little bit of Vegas craziness thrown in, a masquerade ball and a sexy Tarzan. Curious? You’ll have to read it find out more 😉

But I can give you a spoiler free cliff’s notes…

Alyssa Miller has been in love for her best friend for years. Heck, they’re practically acting like a married couple considering they live next to each other and see each other on a daily basis. Oh, except without the sex… and the never ending line of women that frequent her neighbor’s apartment.

Alyssa would love for Dillon to see her as something other that his sexless best friend, but she’s giving up hope. Her libido has certainly had enough of it. Batteries will only get a girl so far.

Tired of her risk-free and boring life, Alyssa decides that a weekend at a Romance book convention is the key to solve her dry spell. A steamy night spent with a sexy cover model she’ll never have to see again after seems just the key. Too bad Dillon is not exactly on board with that idea…

Dillon Alexander has always had feelings for his best friend, but he’s not the commitment sort and he knows he’s not what a woman like her needs. But when the idea of Aly with another man brings out his inner caveman? Let’s say a man will go to great lengths to resolve a situation; like follow her to Vegas and propose that he be the man to scratch her itch…no complications or strings need apply

Then, in the privacy of her room, he’d give her exactly what she wanted: excitement, passion, and multiple orgasms. Batteries not required.

And when the man puts his plan into action? Well let’s just say Alyssa never stood a chance

So what happens?
What starts of as this

Turns into a whole lot of this

I loved the setting of Vegas and all the fabulous side characters that were introduced. While this wasn’t anything I haven’t really read before, it was entertaining from beginning to finish. A little cute, a little sexy, sometime a touch cheesy, but still wonderful. An angst light, fluffy and romantic read that will appeal to all lovers of contemporary romance.

I hope that Dillon’s twin will be getting a book next. This is just one of those light and easy reads that are perfect for in between reads or just when you need a cute and uplifting romance.

ARC Review: ☆Hard Knocks☆ by Lori Foster

In the stunning prequel novella to her new mixed martial arts series, New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster brings together an elite fighter and the woman he’s determined to win.

Power. Brute strength. Unforgettable moves. It’s no wonder Harper Gates hasn’t been able to get her fling with Gage “Savage” Ringer out of her head. Months have passed since she laid eyes—or any other body parts—on him. Months without a word of contact… until, sidelined by injury, he comes back to town.
Staying focused on his training seemed like a smart move to Gage, even if he thought about Harper every day. Seeing her again only makes it clear how much is at stake. He’s got one night to earn back her trust. One night to show her that behind his breathtaking skill and ripped body is a man who’ll give her everything she needs.
Don’t miss No Limits, the first novel in Lori Foster’s Ultimate series.

3.5 Short but worth it Stars

Ever since I first discovered Lori Foster with my first SBC fighters,
Causing Havoc (SBC Fighters, #1) by Lori Foster
and then binging and reading the entire series back to back, I have been hoping and HOPING that she will write another MMA series. It only makes sense, right? The author is a huge fan of the sport and she writes some of the best steamy contemporary romances, so the combination is golden.

When I saw the title and author of this book, I jumped at the chance to read it. I didn’t even bother to read the book blurb. I had assumed that the novella would be a prequel to the 1st book (with the same couple). Guess I should have read the blurb 🙂

This novella is more of an introduction to the series and the characters. I found it perfect for that. You get to have a small but juicy bit about all the deliciously sexy fighters that are introduced. Ms Foster gives you just a bit and yet not quite enough to practically make you salivate for their books.

But there is also the addition of a romance; one between Gage “Savage” Ringer and Harper Gates. This was a cute and sexy addition to the story, but to be honest, I was more interested in the rest of the fighters. It’s tough to really get invested in the characters in less than a 100 pages. While it was sexy and steamy, I didn’t feel like I had enough background story or information on Harper and Gage to truly appreciate their romance.

That being said, it was a great way for the series and the hero of the next book to be introduced and I’m very happy I read it and would definitely recommend fans of the authors start the series with this novella as well.

Now that is all you’ll be getting from me, since I plan on diving straight into Cannon’s book in
No Limits (Ultimate, #1) by Lori Foster
next.

Review: ☆Willing Victim☆ by Cara McKenna

For the past couple years Laurel’s been coasting, hiding in the backseat while her life drifts off course. Then one summer afternoon a tall, built bruiser named Flynn strides in and steers her straight into an infatuation she never saw coming.Flynn introduces Laurel to things she’s never imagined—to the violent but exciting realm of the underground boxing circuit, to rough sex and even rougher role-playing, and to an attraction she craves even as it intimidates her. As Flynn invites her deeper into his world and his life, Laurel has to make a choice—let fear keep her holed up where it’s safe, or take a chance and fight for the man who makes her feel more alive than she’d dreamed possible.

Reader Advisory: Although all sex acts are 100-percent consensual, Willing Victim contains role-playing scenarios that may upset some readers who are sensitive about rape, even in a simulated capacity.

I like fighting, and I like fucking. I don’t care much for thinking.

Oh sweet mother of orgasms! I had a very close and passionate relationship with my Kindle while reading this book

9371687If you’ve already met Flynn, you’ll know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

8247676And if you have yet to meet him? You already know what I’m talking about.

The man is lethal to your ovaries. I’m not even slightly exaggerating here. The description of Flynn alone got me all hot and bothered

He looked both lean and heavy, raw and bruised and tattooed and feral. Muscles sicced and jumped in this arms as he stripped cotton bandaging off his wrists and tossed it in the trash basket behind him.

9371688But then he opens his mouth…

God,Flynn”
“That’s right. Say my name. Tell me who’s fucking that tight cunt.”

9371689I recommend having either your significant other on hand, or plenty of batteries. This book may be short, but holy SHIT is it potent?

You have a hot, dirty talking, underground fighter that’s into some verra interesting things. You have a great heroine that’s not afraid to go after what she wants. You have mind blowing, incendiary sex scenes that will have you running towards the nearest cold shower. And you have dirty talk to beat all dirty talk. My only complaint? I wish this was a full length novel. I would have loved to get to know Flynn and Laurel better. It’s tough to form a true connection with characters in just 130 pages. I can’t say that I never did, but I was left wanting just a little bit more.

You get your trademark Cara McKenna HFN ending. But truthfully, considering the short span of time that this book takes place in, I couldn’t imagine it ending any other way.

Review: Resist (Songs of Submission #6) by C.D. Reiss

Resist (Songs of Submission, #6)Resist by C.D. Reiss

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The story of Jonathan Drazen and Monica Faulkner continues.

And it’s time Monica stepped up to the plate.

I looked down at him, with his tourmaline eyes and copper hair and believed him despite my better judgment. Then I forgave him despite my misgivings. I loved him just because I did. My heart wasn’t sensible or guarded enough. Not by a sight.

I was a walking raw nerve ending of emotion, as if the years I’d spent away from men and sex had made me more emotional, more vulnerable, more foolish than before. I ran my fingers through his hair, feeling like the victim of a crime of consent.
5 You will never be able to resist Jonathan stars

“Was there anyone before you?”

“You might have thought so at the time.”

“I feel like no one’s ever loved me before.”

“I’m sure they did their best, but you always belonged to me.”

What can I tell you about a book that starts out with this:
FAIR WARNING Massive Cliffhanger at the end
I can tell you that that warning is not messing around! Holy mother of cliffhangers! I am barely holding my shit together here. The only thing saving me from going completely kaka for kuku puffs? I have book 7 all ready to go.

The story of Monica and Jonathan continues. With each new installment, I just fall more and more in love with this series. I love Monica’s backbone and determination.

I was many things. I was submissive. I was masochistic. I was trusting. I was a sexual slave. But obedient? Not as much.

But what I love even more is the way she gives in and loves Jonathan.

I forgave him despite my misgivings. I loved him just because I did. My heart wasn’t sensible or guarded enough. Not by a sight. I was a walking raw nerve ending of emotion, as if the years I’d spent away from men and sex had made me more emotional, more vulnerable, more foolish. I ran my fingers through his hair, feeling like the victim of a crime of consent.

Jonathan is perfection personified. The man is a king. There is no doubt about it. Everything that he says

Everything that he does

And don’t even get me started on when he REALLY gets down to business.

Put your hands up to the showerhead.” I did, and his followed the line of my arms, cupping his hands over mine, sliding them to the pipe that held the shower head. “Hold that.” My arms up as if tied, he pushed me against the tiles and put one of my legs around his waist. He kissed me, hands at my ass, spreading me apart with his fingers. “Please,” I said. “I want you.”
“I’m yours.” He thrust into me.

Do you really need any more reasons? No? Didn’t think so.

I devoured this book. Everything about it was perfection. With each new detail that comes to light, I just get even more addicted. I can’t wait to see how it all ends. On a side note: Jessica

That is all.

Here’s how it’s going to be, Goddess.

Until you surrender yourself to me fully, I will not touch you.

Until the world can know you belong to me, I will not kiss you.

I’m going to be inches away, at your side. I’m going to whisper in your ear and put my breath on your neck, but the heat of my skin will not feel the shudder of yours until you commit yourself to me completely and without reservation.

He was the last thing I needed. He was trouble. Six feet two inches of life-damaging trouble in a sweet, tempting motherfucking devil of a package.

These books!

(see what I did there? LOL!)

The writing

Jonathan

When this ice cube melts, I’m going to make love to you so slow, everyone in this hotel is going to know my name. It won’t be play. It’s going to be dead serious.” “Okay.”
“Then it’s playtime. I’m going to tie you down and take every part of your body until I’m satisfied. It will hurt, goddess, and you will beg for more.”

The ending

I’ve run out of words to describe the pure awesome that is this series, so this is all you will be getting from me in this review. I’m suprised I was even able to get this much written, since I need to be getting back to Jonny. And you know what?

Book Synopsis

When Jonathan was gone I couldn’t stop thinking about him, and the first thing he did when he got back was demand more of me. I’m willing to give him my orgasms and my time, but I find myself giving up pieces of my heart.
My career is on track, and even though I can’t write a thing, I can sing. So I’ll go to the art opening with him, because his ex wife will be there. I feel this need to protect him from hurt, though in bed, his domination brings me to my knees.
This man is going to break me into a million little pieces.

My Review

5 Tease till you beg for it Stars

“If you have never seen beauty in a moment of suffering, you have never seen beauty at all.

This series is an addiction. A brilliantly written, incredibly erotic addiction.

Jonathan, my sexy and mysterious Jonathan. I find myself anticipating every bit and crumble we learn about him. One thing is for sure, the more I learn, the more the man intrigues me. The mere mention of his name, and my pervy little heart goes all pitter patter.

With the progression of Monica and Jonathan’s relationship, more information is revealed. We get slightly more background about Monica and her ex-boyfriend, Kevin. Then there was Jessica, Jonathan’s ex-wife. I’m pretty sure I will be hating her more and more as I read. But the center of it all was Jonathan and Monica.

I read a lot of erotic romance. And I mean A LOT. It takes quite a bit to have me raving and gushing about an author. But the way Ms. Reiss can write a sex scene?! Sweet mother of GAWD! The woman is brilliant. I cannot get enough of her writing style and the sex scenes are SCORCHING. And this is only 2 books in. I cannot wait to see what the rest will bring. So this will be a short and sweet review, since I’m diving straight into the next book.

Book Synopsis

This novella is the first in a series
My name is Monica. I’m a singer born and raised in Los Angeles.
I’ve stopped dating. When I cut a record, or win a Grammy, maybe then I’ll be with someone, but every man in my past has done everything he could to make me submit myself to him, and it’s gotten in the way of my career. I won’t do it again.
But there’s Jonathan. He owns the high-rise hotel where I work, and he is gorgeous and charming. I refuse to fall in love with him, even though when he asks me to submit to him, I want nothing more.

4.5 Begging for it Stars
“I won’t hold you to it. We can wait, or we can call it off.”

   “A bet’s a bet.”

“You sure? I can be demanding.”

   “So can I.”

He stepped back and smiled. “Not tonight, you’re not.”

I’ve had this book sitting in my kindle for the past few months. So why haven’t I read it before now? Because I am a friggin idiot, that’s why! Yes, I’m woman enough to admit this. And admit it I will. (And shout out to SueBee and Allison for giving me the last friendly push I needed. You guys are filled with awesome and I heart you both!)

But enough of that, and let me talk about this book. This is the first novella in a series and I am completely and utterly captivated and sucked in. How do I review a short novella? By giving you my reactions to every addicting morsel.

Jonathan

Yes, he’s another sexy billionaire. But, he’s also a redhead. He was not crazy possessive, slightly insane, or insanely domineering. He was a sexy as hell enigma. The man was fucking hot. Period. I want to lick him.

Monica

NOT another meek and introverted virgin (THANK FUCK!). I knew from the first few pages that I will really like Monica, and I was not wrong. She was independent, owned her sexually, knew when to tell someone off, yet the way she gave in to Jonathan never came off as weak. I’d do it too. In a freaking heartbeat.

The writing??

Please,”
“Not yet.”
“Jesus, Jonathan. What do you want?”
“I want you to want it.”
“I do. My God, I do.”
“No, you don’t. Not enough.”
I knew what he wanted, and I was willing to give it to him.
“Please. I’m begging you. I’m begging. I’ll do anything you want. I’ll be anything you want. Just don’t—”
He drove his dick into me with a ferocity that shocked me and turned the last word into a cry.

Do you really need my reaction here? Well, if you’re curious, let me confirm those suspicions.

I am sucked in, addicted, and completely blown away. Seriously Ms. Reiss

That is all the gushing ramblings you’ll be getting from this girl, because I am off to lick…err…read more Jonathan. And I thank you
