ARC Review: ☆Best Man with Benefits☆ by @SamantheBeck1

How far can one favor go…

Logan McCade arrives at his best friend’s wedding overworked and in desperate need of a vacation, only to discover his best man duties have been…expanded. He must coax Colton’s sister out of her shell, or risk her hiding in her room all week. Logan figures he can handle one introverted bridesmaid, but he’s not expecting how much he enjoys “handling” Sophie…or how much she enjoys being handled.

Socializing has never been web designer Sophie Brooks’s strong suit, but she’s determined to shed her wallflower image and embrace the “New Sophie”—a feat made easier with the supremely sexy Logan McCade tempting her to explore all her forbidden fantasies. If she’s not careful, she just might fall for the best man.

Sophie’s sweet, sexy, and delectably awkward demeanor brings much-needed calm to Logan’s hectic life. With the nuptials only days away, Logan is forced to face the possibility that his favor to a friend might have become something else entirely…and that he’s not willing to let Sophie go. Ever.

You don’t know anything about my needs.”
“You need me to strip you naked, bend you over my bed, and slide my cock inside you until you forget what it feels like not to have me filling you.”

The perfect conclusion to a fantastic series, Best Man with Benefits is the story of best man, Logan, and the groom’s sister, Sophie. As I was reading the series (which I strongly recommend reading in order for the best experience), the little hints at what was brewing between Sophie and Logan had my curiosity really piqued. I wasn’t sure how I’d like their story since I’m not typically a big fan of extremely shy and introverted heroines, but I gotta say, I really liked Sophie.

Grown tired of the “Old Sophie”, the New Sophie is determined to shed her old image and embrace life.

A wallflower living in bulky sweatshirts and baggy jeans, clinging to an extra twenty pounds like a buffer against the world. An unfulfilled woman who wouldn’t know passion and excitement except through the racy text accompanying the erotic product offerings of the spicy website she designed and maintained for her firm’s biggest client.”

Enter Logan McCade, the overworked CEO of his own successful company and the best man in the wedding. Being the groom’s best man, Logan has known Sophie for years…though he’s a little unprepared for the new version of her he encounters. Colton is concerned his introverted sister will shy away from all the festivities, so he asks Logan to look after her and makes sure she enjoys herself…though I doubt he knew how that would turn out.

He had enough time to open his eyes, jerk his head up, and watch his best friend’s shy, adorable, strictly off-limits little sister annihilate him with the most incredible blow job of his entire life.

Sophie is determined to shed her old self, and what better way than to explore all her deepest and darkest fantasies with her brother’s incredibly sexy best friend? With the way that Logan was portrayed in the previous 3 books, I was a little afraid he may be a little stuffy for my tastes. He was always the nice and safe one from the descriptions as opposed to the rest of the guys. But Samanthe didn’t let down in the dirty talk department. Beneath the overworked, suit wearing exterior Logan was a dirty dirty boy.

And once you’ve come so hard you can’t stand, you need me to flip you around, hike your legs over my shoulders, and do it again, head-on, until you scream loud enough to have management banding on the door.

While this wasn’t my favorite of the 4 books, it was still a very solid 4 star read. There was one scene where Sophie embraced her inner vixen that read a bit awkward to me. She goes from a shy girl to a spanking dominatrix in the blink of an eye…and then back again. Not sure if anyone else will really mind that, but for some reason it did’t quite work for me.

Of course keeping in tradition with the rest of this series, the epilogue was the perfect sweet icing on the cake. I cannot recommend this series enough. The way each novel plays off of the other and interweaves the couples flawlessly was certainly no small feat, but so worth the effort that was obviously put into it. Hands down of my my favorite series I’ve read from Brazen to date. Absolutely loved it.

While each novel is easily read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them all.

ARC Review: ☆Seducing the Bridesmaid☆ by @katee_robert

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

Regan Wakefield is a headhunter in both name and personality: driven, motivated, and unafraid to pursue what—and who—she wants. Naturally, she’s thrilled when her friend’s wedding offers her an opportunity to score Logan McCade, the practically perfect best man. Unfortunately, groomsman Brock McNeil keeps getting in her way, riling her up in the most delicious of ways. But Brock’s smooth southern charm isn’t part of the plan…so how exactly did they end up having searing-hot sex?

Regan may pretend the erotic electricity sparking between them is merely a distraction, but Brock knows better. She refuses to see beyond the devil-may-care façade he presents to the world, while he sees straight through hers. Changing her mind—and getting under her skin—is a challenge he can’t resist. And when he wins, Brock will do whatever it takes to convince Regan that the best man for her is him.

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

This book had to have had some of the best banter I’ve read in a while. That whole ‘I should hate you but still lust you’ thing Brock and Regan had going on? Let’s just say I likey verra much.

Regan Wakefield is a take-no-shit New York headhunter. She’s confident, she’s outspoken, and she has no issues knowing what she wants and going after it…or at least she THINKS she knows what she wants. She has a plan after all, and that plan is to snag the very eligible Logan McCade at her friend’s wedding. On paper he’s everything she wants; driven, motivated, and successful. So why is that when she sees the extreme opposite of what she wants Brock McNeil…

How did that happen? Well, it’s certainly not easy to resists Brock’s southern charm, and when he lay it on her, he really LAYS it on her. Pun most definitely intended.

But Brock isn’t exactly the entitled rich boy that Regan thinks that he is. Too bad it takes her a bit to figure it out.

I absolutely LOVED the banter between these two. Regan definitely didn’t mince words and she had no problems cutting Brock down to size.

It’s okay if you’re intimidated by my overwhelig masculinity. I promise to take good care of you.”
“How sweet of you. But let’s be honest. I’d ruin you for other women, and I’m just too nice to do that to an adorable thing like you.”

Brock certainly didn’t disappoint with giving as good as he got. And as hard as Regan was on him at times, she really deserved that and more

Why, Scarlett, are you calling me difficult? I seem to remember you making irrational claims about my not being as mean as I acted.”
“God, no. I’m just pointing out that you have a mammoth stick up your ass.” He reached for his drink, effectively removing her hand from his arm. “Since I’m petitioning for saintly status, I’m willing to help you remove it.”

As much as I enjoyed their banter, there were definitely times I wanted to throttle Regan for being as tough on Brock as she was. There’s a fine line between confident and brash, and Regan was tip toening right on it most of the time.

She did have her endearing moments. I liked how terrified she was of the outdoors. Logical fear?

Except she was scared of squirrels. Her quirky fear never failed to put a smile on my face.

And of course with sparks like that between them, their sexual chemistry between them was combustible and certainly didn’t disappoint. This book was STEAMY.

I loved Brock. I just wish it hadn’t taken Regan as long as it did to finally get her head out of her ass.

I absolutely love how the authors tied in each book in this series, it really just made each book that much more enjoyable for me. I highly recommend reading all of them in order.

Lisa Jayne Reviews: ☆Decker’s Wood☆ by @kirstydallas

Decker Steele had it made…Penthouse apartment, VIP parties, girls on tap. You see, Decker Steele is the Pornography Associations award winning, money making machine. But what does a self-confessed, pussy pounding warrior do when his prized package begins to fail? Freak the ‘F’ out, that’s what!

Andi Jennings is the socially inept, geeky and awkward cousin of Decker’s best friend. Only she’s not so geeky and awkward anymore. Now she’s a smokin’ hot country bumpkin, with a smokey voice made for phone sex, and a pair of hot as hell cowboy boots. Everyone adores her, my porn star buddies, my mom and dad, my ‘equipment’.

So, the prized package isn’t so failing anymore, the catch is, it will only perform for Andi…My friend WITHOUT benefits.

What will the prince of porn do? The girl or the career?

** Reader Warning** – This novel is NOT a dark romance. There are absolutely no whips or floggers, no matter how much Andi wants to smack Decker over the head at times. There are no BDSM slavery themes, unless you can count that Decker is a slave to Andi’s hot cowboy boots and sexy Texan drawl. Decker’s Wood does however feature glitter rain, manscaping, vajazzle, tequila shots, roof-top dancing and one hell of a dick trick!

For Mature Audiences – sexual situations and language which some readers may find offensive

FOUR DECKER STARS.

“You were the heart I was missing from my soul, and you are the fucking future missing from my dreams.”

Quick witted, wonderfully hilarious and so sweet I wanted to hug my kindle, ‘Decker’s wood’ was just what I needed to make me one happy reader. I haven’t been nearly so entertained in reading a book in a long time, this author has put the bounce back into my reading time and I could not have been more pleased to have read this book and met the characters, Andi and Decker. Readers prepare yourselves to fall in love with one extremely loveable pornstar and his side kick wonderfully awkward heroine. This book blew me away and I’m looking forward to other readers joining me in the ‘Deckers wood’ fan club.

What’s it all about?
Decker Steele has it all; the women, the money, the endless sex, a lifestyle that he has always been proud of. As a famous porn star, this self confessed sex addict has always felt very at home doing his job and being a success. But when the star of his show starts to let him down and he can no longer get it up, Decker starts to panic. Former shy and awkward teenager, Andi Jennings is no longer afraid of who she once was, instead she is now proud of the woman she has become. Moving to New York she is ready to start living her dreams and make a fresh start by opening her very own bookstore and coffee shop. Andi never imagined that she would come across the very man who made her toes curl and her cheeks heat as a geeky youngster but that is just what happens when the sexy Decker welcomes her to New York. When Decker and Andi meet again their lifestyles couldn’t be further apart but when they start to embark on a ‘friends without benefits’ relationship neither of them can quite believe when they start to want more. This twosome soon start to realise that they don’t want to have to live without a friendship that is starting to feel forever but can the pornstar really fall in love with the country bumpkin?

What did I love?
A friends to lovers story with added comedy value? Where do I sign up, well readers you sign up right here. This book was fantastic It had the sexy, it had the comedy gold, it had the ‘whisk me away I’m reading a book so I can forget about reality’ story line, in all seriousness this book was a reading escape triumph. One of the standout winning qualities of this book had to be the friendships, most if not all of the characters were likeable in some way. I adored the hero and heroine in equal measure, the dual point of view made it very easy for me to fall in love with the storyline and each of the main characters thoughts and feelings. Everything about this book screamed read me, read me and if gay best friends, glitter, book shelf sex and potty-mouthed one liners is your cup of tea then you better be adding this to your ‘To be read’ list faster than you a can say ‘yes please’. During this book If I wasn’t smiling I was swooning and if I wasn’t swooning I was gripping my kindle at the gorgeous sexual chemistry. It’s fairly obvious that this author has a love for writing and enjoying what she does, I feel like I have finally found a book that translates romantic comedy right to my kindle and I’m excited that I’ve discovered another author whose style is right up my street. Sweet love and giggle worthy scenarios is what this book is all about and I was left with an ending just perfect for the loveable pornstar and his cowboy boot wearing country girl.

Why not five?
From the start this book grabbed my attention. I laughed, I swooned and I was quickly heading towards that five star feeling. Overall I loved this book, the humour, the story line and the characters were all winning points towards a high rating but somewhere in the middle of the story i lost a little love, the book started to slow down with the humour and it lost that full out fun factor that I was enjoining so much. But all in all this is a book I would recommend to friends and fellow book addicts who can’t resist brilliant characters complete with a solid story line and of course the added romance and naughty bits. This author has caught my attention and I’m excited to see what else she will produce with her comedy style romance talents. ‘Deckers wood’ will be keeping a smile on my face for some time to come and I’m hoping that fellow readers will fall in love with Decker and Andi too.

Final thoughts …
For those readers who love their romance stories to be humorous, light on the drama and extra naughty with the sexy will adore this novel. The writing style was one that I’ll never tire of and as I approached the ending I felt a sadness that it was all over. This author has taken a funny but sexy storyline and made it all her own, if this is the start of what’s to come from Kirsty Dallas then sign me up for her future books, I won’t be missing out on this authors witty, romantic talent. Release day is just around the corner, go grab it readers. Enjoy … Kisses.

ARC Review: ☆Overwhelmed by You☆ by @nashodarose

Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you.

KAT

I don’t beg.
I don’t cry.
And I don’t give second chances.

Ream, the lead guitarist of the rock band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot.
I hate him.

Until …

Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he was loud and obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever.
But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s steady confidence that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers.

Then…

Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first.

REAM

Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it, but hated it—until her. She was unexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

“Overwhelmed by You” (Tear Asunder 2)

4 Holy Crap that last 30% Stars

Whatever damaged key he used, Ream was already inside me and it fit. We fit.

The absolute second I read about Ream in Torn from You, I knew I had to get my hands on his book him immediately. I mean the guy was a royal dick. An asshole. An utter and complete asshole.

Which only meant that I feel for him that much harder. Yes, the more of an asshole they are, the more they make my pervy little heart go all pitter patter. It’s a condition. We’ve been over this. I’ve accepted it. Let’s move on.

Although this could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first book in the series as it will help paint a stronger picture of the couple. I was hoping that this would pick up somewhere in the middle of what happened in the last book, simply because I would have loved to have Ream’s POV on some of the things that took place. But this picks up a few months after the events of the last book, and gives a few flashbacks.

I loved the way that Nashoda started off each chapter with a cryptic flashback teaser. I knew from the very first paragraph that Ream’s story and history would not be an easy one, a light one, or a pretty one.

Behind the asshole veneer lay the damaged soul of a man that has had to experience some horrific things. But you don’t get to find out EXACTLY what they are. The flashbacks in each chapter help build a very vivid picture, however. My poor Ream, constantly trapped within his memories, unable to shut out the voices from his past. My heart absolutely broke for him.

If you’ve read the first book then you know that Ream does something to Kat at the end of it that manages to finally break her tough girl act. It was devastating and left you wondering if you could ever forgive him. Now over 2 years later, Ream finally gets his shit together and goes after Kat with the determination of a bull. But Kat is having none of it. Prepare yourself for angst galore.

I’m not going to lie, I spent large chunks of the book wanting to throttle Kate for being as stubborn and flat out mean to Ream as she was at times. Though considering their past, I somewhat understood her hesitation. Doesn’t mean her immaturity at certain points didn’t drive me batty. I was also very impressed with the twist that Nashoda threw in with Kat’s secret. It was not the typical explanation that you normally read about, and I commend the author for taking such a different route.

Though Kat puts up a good fight for a while, Ream manages to break through her resistance eventually. I mean who can resist a sexy as hell, possessive, intensely jealous rock star for long? And when his sweet side comes out? Forget about it!

I wasn’t expecting for things to be smooth sailing, not at all. I knew that when the entirety of Ream’s past would come to light, it was going to be ugly. And holy mother of all crap to hit the fan! That last 30%?! WHOA! I thought I knew what was coming, but hell fucking no! I think I spend the majority of it reading like this

Damn.

Although Overwhelmed by You didn’t manage to blow me away as much as Torn from You did, I still enjoyed it immensely. Sometime you find an author whose writing you just click with, and I think that’s the case for me here. I can’t get enough of the Tear Asunder boys, and can’t wait for the flirty Crisis to be finally brought to his knees next. Though I’m absolutely salivating for Deck’s story…especially with that teaser at the end.

Lisa Jayne Reviews: ☆Sweet Addiction☆ by Jessica Daniels

Wedding hookups never amount to anything.

Those who partake in this wicked little activity know the rules. Get in. Get laid. Get out. There’s no expectation of a relationship. It is what it is.

Dylan Sparks knows the rules. She’s familiar with the protocol. And she engages in the best sex of her life with a complete stranger at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding.

Reese Carroll doesn’t care about the rules. He wants more than just one night with Dylan. And he’s too addicting to pass up.

Sweet Addiction is the story of one girl’s struggle to keep things casual, and one boy’s desire to never let her go.

(Only $.99 right now!)
FOUR TELL ME YOU LOVE ME STARS.

“you’ve competley captivated me. My heart, my soul, my entire being.”

description

This author has made it so easy for me to fall in love with this novel. Jessica Daniels has written a deliciously naughty romance novel with plenty of ‘giggle at your kindle’ moments to make it a story that is not only swoony, but comical and sexy too. I did not want to put this book down, it was so addictive everything from the undiluted raunchy action, to the friendships and love action had me hooked. I adore it when I read a book and then instantly want to read other books by the same author. This debut novelist has made it in my ‘must have all future books instantly purchased by this talented writer’ list and thankfully I think I may have just found a brand new, smutty book best friend by the name of Jessica Daniels. I can’t wait for other readers to fall in love with this insanely hot but sweet novel and I’m already ready to read more.

Nothing appeals to my reading time than a book that is an all-rounder, one that has the romance but with added bonus bits such as; funny, sexy and plenty of storyline. Jessica Daniels has effortlessly (or so it seems) created a storyline that didn’t force itself to be something that other writers have achieved, instead I felt instantly at home with this authors own style and story. I doubt that you will be able to read this book without falling in love with at least one if not all of the characters, creating characters and using her imagination must be this authors forte. Who knew a corporate accountant could be so demanding and outright gorgeous. Reese Carroll will have most readers grinning at their kindles like a loon, his dirty talking and equally romantic side had me blushing and drooling. Thankfully this book also delivers a likeable heroine, Dylan Sparks this lucky lady is a complete fire cracker and yes at times drama followed her like a spot light but for me it just made the story telling more fun. Gorgeously witty and at times insecure I really liked her inner dialogue and funny traits. Luckily for this novel we even get a fabulous gay best friend and girly side kick that are fantastic additions to the story telling as secondary characters. What hit home mostly for me was winning combination of friendship and like-ability of all the relationships that are developed in this book and as for readers who have a sweet tooth you’ll be desperate for a cupcake (or maybe five) after getting to the end of this loveable story. The novel is told from first person single point of view and even though it was amusing to hear the inner dialogue of the heroine I would have loved to have had more of Reese’s inner thoughts and motives, however I think that the author played the conversations and developing story well. All in all this book captivated me almost right the way through with plenty of smut and laughter along the way and I can’t wait to see what this author will do next.

description

Why not five?
This book was lining up to be a full out-I-can’t-help-but-fall-head-over-heels-for-this-book stars book but unfortunately the unnecessary drama towards the end of the story took over and stole some of the enjoyment factor right from under my nose. That’s not to say that I didn’t adore this book I just needed less arguing and more communication between the hero and heroine. I also would have preferred if this book was a standalone novel, instead it has been struck with the happily for now label. Authors very rarely hold my attention with a series that continues with the same couple but that is it be discovered. Overall I think you can guess from the rest of my review that I was won over by this author and her gorgeous novel but sadly I couldn’t hand out the full five stars.

description

Final thoughts …
‘Sweet addiction’ is accurately titled for my thoughts towards the book, I felt completely addicted by it’s sweet theme and quite honestly I didn’t want it to end. Perfect for my reading tastes I instantly knew after just a few pages that this book was a winning combination. Bravo Jessica Daniels or should I say thank you, I love books just like yours and I’ll be thinking about your characters, cupcakes and frosting for a little while to come. Readers if you like a book that doesn’t take itself entirely too seriously but is well written, a whole lot of naughty and a novel full of sweet then I don’t want you to miss out, I can see a re read in the near future but until then I will happily day dream about the extremely handsome Reese and his talented tongue. Go get your tasty fix readers, enjoy … Kisses.

Blog Tour, Review & #Giveaway: ☆Within Temptation☆ by Tanya Holmes

Title: Within Temptation (Sons of Temptation #1)
Author: Tanya Holmes
Release Date: May 12, 2014
Category: Romantic Mystery/Romantic Suspense. This is not erotica or romantica. This is a romance centered around a murder mystery.
Heat Factor: 3 out of 5 — The sexual tension is high, and the burn is slow. Sex is character-driven, rather than plot-driven.

Love, betrayal and murder in a small town….
Twelve years after her mother’s murder, Shannon Bradford fears she may have helped convict an innocent man. Even worse, her prominent family may have had something to do with it. Desperate for answers, she seeks help from the one person least likely to give it. Her best friend and childhood crush, Trace Dawson. The man she sent to prison.
Serving hard time for murder has left Trace angry and bitter. As far as he’s concerned, digging into the past won’t replace the years he’s lost or erase the hell he’s lived. Now that he’s free, Shannon Bradford tops his list of bad memories. But he never counted on falling in love.
Set in a sleepy little town during the dead of winter, this award-winning romance novel is a tale of one woman’s quest for truth and a man’s struggle to forgive.
“MEMORIES flooded my mind, of the quiet riot he was, of the secret crush I’d had on him, and the extraordinary friendship we’d shared so many years ago. As fast as those images came, others replaced them. I was thrust back to the crime scene, back to Mother’s corpse and the shirtless eighteen-year-old roaring obscenities while Sheriff Gray and a deputy dragged him away in handcuffs.”Within Temptation

I may be on parole, but you’re still the warden of your own penitentiary. So, between the two of us, who’s the real prisoner, darlin’?”

Wow. As far as debut novels goes, this was superb. I couldn’t believe this was Tanya Holmes’ first novel. I’m not even sure how to best describe what I read just now. Think soap opera (or Dallas) on steroids, with a murder mystery thrown in, and a romance expertly interwoven into the suspense. Makes sense? Well it did in my head.

This is not erotica or romantica. This is a romance centered around a murder mystery.

Heat Factor: 3 out of 5 — The sexual tension is high, and the burn is slow. Sex is character-driven, rather than plot-driven.

That sums it up perfectly actually. The romance is not the front and center of this book, but it is perfectly weaved around the story. Tanya did a perfect job of creating a slow burning romance between 2 characters without it taking away from the overall plot and mystery. This was not action packed, edge of your seat suspense. What it was, was a nail biting mystery that kept you guessing until the very last page. I enjoyed it thoroughly and can’t wait for more from this author.

Trace Dawson has spent 12 years behind bars for a crime he didn’t commit. What’s worse is it was the testimony of a little girl that he cared for immensely that sent him there. To say he’s bitter and resentful would be putting it mildly. He’s out now and doesn’t want anything to do with digging up the past, or dealing with the woman that swore in court that he was the one responsible for the murder of her mother.

He’s concentrating on his present and attempting to live in a town that will forever see him as the “butcher boy” of Temptation. He’s ostracized and forced to deal with the constant gossip and pointed fingers of the small townspeople. So when Shannon attempts to right her wrong and tell him that she may have made a mistake all those years ago, he’s not exactly receptive to the idea.

Shannon is guilt-ridden over possibly sending an innocent man to jail, and the thought that her prominent and rich family may have also had a hand in it doesn’t help matters. She wants to right that wrong…if only Trace will give her the time of day.

Beneath the hate, guilt, and resentment there is a strong undercurrent of lust that flows between them…even if both Trace and Shannon do their best of fighting their feelings

You’re too full of yourself.”
A slow, wicked grin eased across his lips.
“Maybe so. But I’d bet the farm you wouldn’t mind being full of me too.”

I loved the slow burn here. The author does an excellent job of building the sexual tension and really making you understand the connection between these characters. The romance, although not predominant, was still incredibly satisfying.

I’m about to take you someplace you’ve never been, and when you come back, you’ll always remember it was me who took you there.

I think I loved this book as much as I did because of Trace. He was such a great character. My heart broke for him and everything that he has endured and continues to endure. Shannon…well Shannon was probably the one thing that kept this from a 5 star read for me.

(Highlight to view spoilers)

There’s an element present here that is usually a turn off for me in most books (view spoiler)a somewhat love triangle. (/spoiler)It could have worked, if not for a few minor things.

(view spoiler)Shannon is engaged to the prosecuting attorney that is responsible for sending Trace to jail. Fine. Shannon isn’t really in love with him but can’t bring herself to end the relationship because of the comfort. OK. Things begin to happen with Trace that further proof her feeling for him and her lack of feelings for her fiance. Yet she still doesn’t end the relationship. I could have understood all that…maybe. But the fact that the fiance had to be made the bad guy and be cheating on her the whole time in order to be the catalyst that finally makes her leave him? I could have done without that. I really wish that Shannon could have had the strength to leave him for her lack of feelings alone.(/spoiler)[Shannon is engaged to the prosecuting attorney that is responsible for sending Trace to jail. All that aside, this was an amazing debut novel that I would strongly recommend for anyone that loves a mystery and romance.

Told in alternating 1st person POV

And I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book with Trace’s brother, Cole. That one sounds like it’s going to pack a hell of punch.

ARC Review: ☆The Innocent Liar☆ by @ElizabethFinn77

A woman hiding from her past, a man lost in his own…

Fiona was desperate to find a life in Jackson, Wyoming, but when a job interview that was supposed to be a sure thing turns ugly, she doubts there’s much hope of it. Eli sees through her lies, and regardless of the favor his father has asked of him, he’s just too stubborn to hire a woman who refuses to even give him her real name.

But there is a reason for everything, and he finds out soon enough her deceptions have a purpose too.

Secrets and lies are nothing to build a relationship on, but their attraction to one another is too intense to ignore. They’re simply magnets pulled together in a situation that should be driving them apart, but Eli has his own ghosts to contend with, and his past leaves him incapable of trusting a woman he can never fully know.

How can they move beyond her lies when the truth is what Eli really needs, and when her past threatens to destroy her, can he rise above his own needs to protect her — his innocent liar?

A woman hiding from her past, a man lost in his own…

The Innocent Liar is an angsty and erotic story about 2 broken people, each hiding from different kinds of demons from their past.

Fiona is hiding behind a veil of lies, innocent as they may be. She’s in a desperate situation, and the one saving grace that she’s counting on is the job that Eli may give her as a favor to his father.

Too bad Eli is too much of an asshole to just blindly do what his father asks. A man with his past is not one that can trust a woman that can’t so much as give him her real name. And his none-too-gentle dismissal of Fiona sends her fleeing his office in tears.

Guilt, circumstance, and desperate need bring them together again. But can a man that’s incapable of blind trust survive a relationship with a woman that’s incapable of giving him the truth, no matter how hot the passion between them may be?

I really liked this story, especially with the introduction we get to Eli. I have a particular soft spot for assholes, and Eli was one major asshole when Fiona first showed up to his office. He’s not exactly known for being a nice guy. A past that still haunts him and a fucked up marriage and divorce have pretty much guaranteed that. But there’s a method to his madness…

Anger gave him a sense of control and power that had once been missing from his life. People always assumed when a person was broken they didn’t realize they were broken. It wasn’t at all true. He knew it well. He saw it in himself, yet he would do nothing to stop it because he didn’t know how to function without his defects. They kept him sane and grounded. That was just a fact of life for him.

Fiona was one of those characters that I had a tough time deciding whether I truly loved or not. She wasn’t quite strong, and yet she wasn’t exactly weak either. What she was, was desperate and hiding from something that you know from the very beginning is going to be brutal to learn.

But something pulls the two of them together, even if neither of them truly understand what it is. Eli is a man that depends on truth, and Fiona is a woman that can’t give him that. Yet the inevitable happens…

He’d lived his life as though his past didn’t exist, yet oddly, his past had consumed him. But now, it didn’t – it wasn’t, and strangely, what had happened so many years ago was closer to the surface than ever before. She had something to do with that, and he needed to hold onto her, even if he hadn’t a clue how to do that.

Eli bounced back and forth between an utter asshole, to sweet back to asshole, to broken man, and then sweet again. It was tough to get a handle on his moods at times, though I did understand the reasoning behind them.

I’ll admit that at times I struggled to understand the connection between him and Fiona. I get that there was a sexual pull between them, but I felt like the progression of their relationship, especially given the circumstances was a little unbelievable to me.

I do love Elizabeth Finn’s writing, and by then end of the book I was very much sold. And if there’s one thing that Elizabeth can give you, it’s one hell of a scorching love scene. If you like your books steamy, this one will deliver that in spades.

I’m going to eat your pussy.” His tongue flicked the lobe of her ear. “Then I’m going to eat your ass.”
She shuddered…
“Then I’m going to watch you suck my dick. Then I’m going to fuck your ass, and I’m not going to stop until I’ve come inside you. Do you understand?”

I had a feeling about Elizabeth’s past, though we never really get the full painted picture, just the glossed over version of it. I understand that had the author went into the gory details of it, it would have shot the book from just angsty to pure dark category…but a part of me feels like I would have still wanted those details. We get bits and pieces of what she went through, but never the whole picture. And the ending doesn’t give much more details. Maybe it’s the dark romance lover in me that craved those details? I’m not sure.

For whatever reason there was just always something here that kept this from being that perfect 5 star read for me. I tend to be stingy with my 5 stars, so I tend to save those for books that I either absolutely LOVED or would see myself reading again.

Fans of Elizabeth Finn would definitely enjoy this book. She delivers a great angtsy love story about 2 broken characters finding healing with each other. And if you haven’t yet discovered this author, then I recommend you do. I’ve read a few books by Miss Finn, and I’ve enjoyed each of them.

So while this may not have been a perfect 5 star read for me, it was still a very enjoyable one and certainly one I would gladly recommend.

ARC Review: ☆A Lush Betrayal☆ by @SelenaLaurence

Joss Jamison has it all. He’s the lead singer for the world’s hottest rock band, Lush. He’s wealthy, sexy, talented…and miserable. Twelve months ago, Joss lost his finely honed control and made a mistake he can’t undo. A mistake that could end up costing him his best friend, his band, and maybe his heart.

Mel DiLorenzo has it all. She’s been hired to document the world tour of her sister’s fiance’s rock band. She’s gorgeous, talented, loved…and sick of being the little sister. When she agrees to the summer job, Mel has no idea she’s walking into a minefield of friendships lost and hearts destroyed. She also has no idea what it means to be the object of Joss Jamison’s affections.

One hot rock star plus one life-altering mistake, add a dash of sexy younger sister and a handful of broken hearts, and you’ve got a recipe for fire. Life on the road can be hot, but for the boys of Lush, it’s about to get a whole hell of a lot hotter.

Betrayal is the only truth that sticks.

Do you like your rock star romances angst filled and high on the drama with a dash of steam thrown into the mix? Than look no further than this book, because it will deliver all that and more…in spades! I had no idea what I was walking into never having read a book by Selena Laurence before. What I found is that I was utterly sucked in to the drama, sitting on pins and needles turning the pages, and waiting for the other shoe to drop. Damn but the woman can write!

Joss Jamison is the lead singer for the world’s hottest rock band. He’s got it all; looks, money, groupies…yet surrounded by all these people, all he ever feels is alone and unhappy.

Twelve months ago he made a mistake that can cost him everything; his band, his best friend, and the happiness that managed to remain. Drowning in an ocean of guilt, misery and regret, he doubts he’ll ever be truly happy…

But then everything changes when Mel DiLorenzo comes back into his life as the band’s new documentary photographer. Used to seeing Mel as the little sister of his best friend and bandmate’s fiance, he’s utterly shocked at the gorgeous woman that she’s grown into. For a man that’s been surrounded my people yet completely lonely most of his life, he’s surprised at the pull that he has toward the stunning redhead.

I know almost instantly- this is it- I’m done. This woman will either be my salvation or the death of me. There is no question. I’ve lost control now that I’ve touched her. There’s no going back, and she’s the most spectacular thing I’ve ever experienced.

The story is told in dual person POV, which essential is what truly sucked me into the drama of it all. Joss is not the typical asshole womanizer rock star that you’d find in other books. He’s very much broken, and the mistake that he made is unforgivable. Yet you can’t seem to help but fall for him. You should hate him for what he did, yet your heart breaks for the painful struggle he faces. This was a mild case of insta-lust, but it completely worked for me. While Mel struggles against the connection they seem to have, Joss is relentless in his pursuit…yet he also manages to be so sweet during everything.

Even your imperfections are perfect to me. You are perfect to me. With me. You’re meant to be mine.

Now don’t get me wrong, as much as he was sweet, he also still had that dirty rock star side to him too.

Right now, I’m going to fuck the hell out of you. I’m going to fuck you hard and fast. Then, when I’ve taken some of the edge off for us, I’m going to fuck you long. So long that you’re going to think you can’t come one more time and stay in one piece.

I spent the first half of this book utterly conflicted. Here’s the thing, I detest (Highlight to view spoiler)cheating(spoiler). That is typically the one thing that will ruin a book for me. Make him an asshole, make him a criminal, anything but that. The fact that I not only sympathized with Joss, but fell for him too, speaks volumes of the author’s talent.

If there was one person I truly hated for a large amount of the story it was Tammy. I hated her even more since Walsh loves her so much. I couldn’t see how I would ever forgive her, let alone read the 2nd book that has her as the MC. The author managed to pain her in such a light for the second half and then pull a complete 180 by the end. It’s tough to explain how impressive this was without giving anything away, but that speaks even more for the brilliance of the writing here.

If you’re looking for your next Rock star romance, this may just be that book for you. It may be angst filled and pack enough drama to make a soap opera jealous, but it’s also a great love story about second chances and forgiveness.

She thought he had trouble remembering she wasn’t a kid anymore. No, what he had trouble remembering was that he was no good for her. Because damn if he didn’t want her. He wanted her every possible way he could have her.

Wow! What a hot little read this was. I definitely didn’t see that coming. After reading and enjoying Hot Pursuit, I was expecting more along the lines of that book. And it was…mostly. If you’re looking for a nail biting romantic suspense, that’s not quite what you’ll get her. This was light on the suspense and action but verra high on the steam. You certainly won’t be getting many complaints from me. This was the perfect short and steamy little read to spend my Saturday night with.

Georgeanne was Texas money, debutante balls, exclusive sororities and country club all the way. She knew which fork to use, what to wear to any event- and she used bone china for her morning coffee.
He was nothing but a poor kid from a dysfunctional family.

12 years ago Georgeanne was hopelessly in love with Sam McKnight, her older brother’s best friend. Sam was used to see her as his friend’s annoying little sister, until one night changed everything. But Sam also knows that he’s not good enough for Georgie. He’s the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, and she’s the beautiful and innocent southern belle.

Now Georgeanna is and English professor coming off of a recent divorce after her husband cheated on her. The last person she expects to see on her doorstop is Sam, who’s been sent by her brother to check on her. When they see each other again, all those pent up sexual feelings begin to resurface again.

Georgie never hid the fact that she wants Sam, and she’s not exactly shy about showing that it hasn’t changed with the years that have passed. But Sam fights the attraction between them, knowing he’s not good enough for her. But when Georgie’s life is threatened, he’s determined to protect her. And when these two are thrown together in a remote house on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, sparks begin to fly. Sam may be determined to stay away from her, but there’s only so long he can fight it for. And when Sam does give in, holy hell but does he give in.

I do want you, Georgie. I’ve wanted you since that night twelve years ago. I want to spread you out beneath me and make you come so many times you can’t do it anymore. I want to taste your pussy and feel your legs wrapped around me as I pound into you. I want to see you swallow my cock and hear you cry out in ecstasy.

He was deep inside Georgeanne Hayes, the perfect little princess of his teenage years, and he wanted to corrupt her utterly. He wanted to possess her and make her scream his name. He wanted to imprint himself on her so thoroughly she’d never forget this night with him.

The suspense part of the book was mainly lost in the background of the story of two childhood friends reuniting and giving into the chemistry between them. I was hoping for a little more action, at least in the end, but that never happened. I found the ending a little too perfect and glossed over. The other thing keeping this from being 5 stars was Sam’s constant self esteem issue. He was always dwelling on how he wasn’t good enough for Sam, no matter how hard she tried to show him she didn’t care about that. It did get slightly frustrating at times.

I still really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it for those looking for a quick and steamy little read with some suspense thrown into the mix. This can easily be read as a standalone, as neither of these characters appeared in the first book (that I remember) and there was plenty of background given that nothing is lost. I’ve become a big fan of this series, and if you like steamy Romantic Suspense, I’d recommend reading this series in order. The men of HOT are definitely worth meeting, and I can’t wait to dive into Dangerously Hot

You. Wet and willing. In my bed.

Anything less than that and I will go mad. You get me?”
She nodded. “Yes. I get you.”

Well, well, well, Miss Covington, looks like you got yourself a hot little PNR book here.

Whenever an author whose books I’ve loved comes out with a different genre, I’m always a little hesitant to pick it up. It doesn’t always transition well and there’s not many authors I can name that have successfully done so. But when Robin offered me an ARC of this book, I’ll be honest, I was pretty much sold at the title. Now color me surprised when I started reading this book and realized that it’s not just a sexy cover and a clever title.

Felicity “Cici” Trent and Thomas “Deacon” have a very long history together…and I mean long as in over 250 years long. A misunderstanding all those years ago left both of them brokenhearted. Deacon broke Cici’s heart by walking away, and Deacon believed that she wanted another man.

For 250 years they’ve been dancing around each other and their feelings. Now talk about your pent up sexual tension.

But when Cici finds her business being threatened she knows there’s no other man that she trusts to get down to the bottom of things more so than Deacon. So what if she still equal parts hates him and wants him? She’ll do what she has to do to protect her business.

Deacon never got over the woman that broke his heart. He no longer believes in love after the only woman that he’s loved didn’t want him. But he’s all about satisfying this burning hunger he has for her, and he’s all about using any means possible to get it

I’ll help you, but we can’t keep playing these games with each other.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning we’ve danced around the issue of ‘us’ for about two hundred years too long. While we work together, I want us to explore each other. Up close and personal. In bed. THat would be more than adequate payment.”
“And if I don’t agree?”
“I’ll help you. Free of charge. But I’ll probably be an asshole.” He shrugged. “Blue balls make me cranky.”

What a coincidence, Deacon!

Well, of the lady blue balls variety anyway. Luckily Deacon delivered on the promise and then some. The chemistry between the two of them was hot, but nothing compared to when they finally get together. Because that was SCORCHING!

Deacon,” Cici said in warning. She clawed at the covers, unable to stand much teasing as her legs began to shake with the slow build of her craving. “Don’t tease. That’s not nice.”
“I never said I would be nice.” He laughed darkly, driving into her deeper but not quite enough. “I only said I would make you come.”

When Deacon finds out that it’s not only her business that’s in trouble, but her life as well, he knows that he will stop at absolutely nothing to protect her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and sexy, and I really liked the clever world building and the “Other” characters that were introduced. This had a little bit of everything to make for a perfect sexy PNR read; action, suspense, steam, and one deliciously domineering and hot vampire.

Cici was a strong and sassy heroine and definitely gave as good as she got.

So why not 5 stars? I suppose it may have been the length of the book for me. I didn’t quite have enough time to truly get invested in Cici and Deacon’s relationship. I wished for a little more buildup. Don’t get me wrong, I was invested enough to read this book in one sitting 🙂 But I think that a longer book would have worked a bit better for me.

I really hope that Robin will make this into a series, as I’m practically salivating for a book for both Mya and Andy.

If you enjoy fun and sexy PNR reads, definitely don’t hesitate to one-click on this one. You won’t be left disappointed 😉
