Take your clothes off.”
“Yes, your Royal Highness.”
I was an instant fan of Lilah Pace the second I read Asking for It. Her writing phenomenal, the story provocative, and the characters multi layered. When I saw that she has a bran new MM romance in the works with a dash of the forbidden (a secretly gay Prince of Wales? *gasp*)
My ovaries were all, sign us up for that right meow!
Then I started reading it and they were all
“when does this pick up?”
“That was pretty hot, but I barely popped a lady boner at it.”
“Alright, I’m over the sex, what about more story?”
“How much longer?”
“Really? We’re not even at 65% yet?”
“Huh. Maybe the next book will bring more”
Clearly my ovaries are fickle bitches. Le sigh. What can I say? This story very sadly left me quite a bit underwhelmed.
While I loved Ben and James individually, together they were barely lukewarm for me. Perhaps that was because I kept wishing for more story development that kept getting overshadowed by all the sex? Perhaps it was because the book read fairly mundane even if it did have a forbidden romance thing going for it. I just wasn’t feeling it.
I was pushing myself to finish…and pushing myself…and pushing myself some more. Eventually this began to feel like the longest short book.
Now don’t get me wrong, in usual Lilah Pace fashion, it was clearly well researched and extremely well written. The author is immensely talented, and that’s clear in her words. What I found lacking here was simply a true connection to the story. But that’s more a personal taste issue than anything truly wrong with the story. Maybe it was my mood, maybe it was something else. But while I didn’t love this one, I will definitely be continuing with the next book because I was intrigued enough by everything going on and the secondary characters to want to know what happens next.
If you’re looking for sizzling hot MM, this book has it. If you’re looking for great secondary characters, this book has it too. If you’re looking for multi-layered characters, this book definitely has it. Who knows, perhaps it will work better for you than it did for me.
Look out for the conclusion

Take your clothes off.”

If there’s one thing that Miss Ella Frank can write, it’s a smokin’ hot MM romance. No, truly. The woman may be a genre chameleon, but there’s just something about her MM that hits me just right…in both ovaries. True story.

Book slump officially over! #DoublePeenForTheWin
Written in dual first person POV, you get equal time in both Henry and Evan’s heads and it just makes the story that much better.

And if there’s one thing that I’ve come to love from her it’s her incredibly sexy MM that she somehow manages to pack full of so much feeling, it practically jumps off the pages at you. And this book? This fantastically written, utterly unputdownable book may be my favorite book by her yet. I never thought I’d say this, but Finley and Brantley took my number one spot from Tate and Logan, and let me just tell you that I LOVED Tate and Logan.
The chemistry between Daniel and Brantley was palpable, as was their emotional connection. I absolutely loved the way that Ella Frank managed to flawlessly weave very well times flashbacks to work with the story. I’m a picky reader when it comes to flashbacks and I can easily say the way they were written here was my absolute favorite. They were well paced and perfectly timed to work with the story and drive the plot.

Being a huge Carmen Jenner fan, when I saw she’s coming out with an MM romance, I didn’t even bat an eyelash before adding this beauty to my shelves. And when it landed on my kindle? I devoured it in one sitting…though with much fidgeting involved because holy hot sex scenes! My ovaries got a hell of a work out is all I can tell you, because if there’s one thing this woman can write, it’s one extremely hot sex scene. Finding North certainly didn’t lack in steam, but it also packed on emotion and angst all tied together in a steamy GFY set up that I absolutely enjoyed the hell out of.
North and Will grew up together and were the best of friends until one day everything changed. Now twelve years later all they have between them is regret, longing, and resentment. Will is openly gay in a small Australian town where they’re not exactly excepting of that sort of thing. But with his father being the owner of the town’s lone watering hole where he bartends, they mainly ignore it for the booze they come to him for.

Oh Danny boy, how I’ve missed you. So much so, that I savored this book as much as I could. See I have a sentimental attachment to this series.

Ella Frank is a chameleon of genres. The woman is a damn genius is what she is. Whether it be contemporary, MM, Urban Fantasy, and now PNR, it seems like she really cannot do any wrong. I had no idea what to expect when I picked this book up, but I knew two things for sure:
Truth be told, I’m always hesitant with the first book in a PNR series because almost always it will suffer what I refer to as a case of the firsts. What I mean is, between the introduction of all the characters, the world building, and everything in between, I often find myself taking a while to get into the story and wrap my mind around everything. I was beyond thrilled and not a little surprised that that wasn’t the case here. I was sucked into the book immediately. The character development, the rich world building, the unbelievably sizzling sexual tension is what made this book the unputdownable read that it was.
Alasdair is a first sired; one of the most powerful vampires in existence second only to his sire; Vasilios. Ruthless, unapologetic, and with a magnetic sexual appeal there’s not much in life that Alasdair doesn’t have. His face has lured plenty a human to their death while experiencing a pleasure unlike any they’ve ever experienced. But he’s also a vampire of particular tastes. Being alive for centuries has ensured that not just anyone experiences the pleasure of receiving his carnal attentions. But then one human changes everything…

His present was a lie and he didn’t know what his future held. One moment it seemed possible and the next a distant dream. His biggest worry was that if he stopped running, he’d die.
What is it about an MM romance by Barbara Elsborg that just does it for me? Every. Single. Time. I’m pretty sure it’s the perfect combination of incredibly erotic sex scenes with a dry wit, snark, and humor along with some suspense that all adds up to be exactly what I need it to be. If you’ve read
If you enjoy your MM with two very distinctly ALPHA males, this is not a book that you’ll want to miss. That was quite possibly one of my favorite parts about this. The fact that both the MCs are very much alpha and have a power struggle on who will bottom. Damn but it was delicious. But beyond that, Barbara Elsborg has once again managed to deliver and emotional and erotic story about two very broken people that find strength in each other and heal.
While recovering from an injury that almost paralyzed him and may not have been quite the accident that everyone else believed it to be. he’s sequesters himself to a house on the lake to go through the physical therapy he needs to finally gain his strength back. The last thing he expects to do is save a random drowning surfer.
Barbara Elsborg has become an auto-buy author for me and this book is a perfect example of why. I only hope that there may be more books in this series, but if I’m being honest, it doesn’t even matter because whatever this woman writes, I’ll read. Without a doubt.

So let’s see here; we have friends-to-lovers, second chance romance and GFY all mixed in with sizzling chemistry and humor. If that’s not enough to justify my 5 star rating, I dunno what is. Maybe I haven’t read an MM in a while, maybe I was exactly in the mood for a feel good and sexy MM romance? Whatever the reason may be, I loved this book to pieces. There was not one part of it I read where I didn’t either have a goofy grin on my face or felt like I needed to ice my ovaries. It was fabulous!
Ryan was such a fantastic hero as well. He’s such a tender heart, but it totally works for him. Together they just made a certain kind of sense. These are two guys that you’ll be rooting for from beginning to finish. I absolutely loved the way that Ryan is with his family and their quirkiness. Considering the cold detachment of Wes’s family, it was wonderful to have such a warm family dynamic on the other end.

How many times can a heart break before there’s nothing left to mend.
