MARCO

I have loved Rosa since I met her in high school English, even though the odds have always been stacked against us. She is the child of criminals, resigned to a bleak future. I’m the heir to a successful construction company and am not afraid to go after what I want.

And I want Rosa. Always and forever.

ROSA

I broke the law to make sure Marco got custody of our daughter, and I paid the price. But now that I’m out of jail, I’m terrified my ugly past might bleed into our daughter’s future.

The only way to ensure that doesn’t happen is staying far away from both of them.

But Marco isn’t letting me run from him. Not again.

A stand-alone, contemporary romance.

He looked at me across the room and slowly shook his head. “I don’t want to love you,” he said.“I know.”

“Half the time I hate you.”

“I know.”

He looked away from me, his hands in fists, and I could feel the tension across the room, the fragile control he had on himself. How he was barely holding on. And I knew that he would never hurt me. The thing he was trying to stop himself from doing was touch me.

“I’m leaving,” he said and crossed the room in three angry steps. Everything in me told me to get out of the way. To let him go. But I didn’t. I stood right in front of the door in my gold vest and hot pants.

His face was flushed. “Get out of my way,” he said, and my mouth was full, my throat closed, and I shook my head. “Don’t make me,” he said. “Don’t make me touch you.”

It was exactly what I was doing, because I would take his touch any way I could get it.

“Fuck, Rosa,” he groaned. “Fuck you.”

And he put his hands around my arms and pulled me up and into his body so my breasts touched his chest, and between my legs I felt the hard pressure of him. I gasped and he turned. I expected him to let me go. I expected him to shove me away but he didn’t. Oh god, he didn’t. He lifted me off my feet and took two steps forward, pushing me against the wall. Not gently. But not rough. And then he leaned against me, his entire body against mine. And I was electrified. Every inch of my skin burned where it touched his.

I burned so hot I burned right through all the years. All the pain fell away and it was just us. Marco and me and the desire so pure it kept changing the course of both our lives.

He held himself so still, so carefully, and he was going to walk away. I knew he was. He would walk away and this moment would never happen again.

“Please,” I begged, because it was all I had left. No more pride. No more distance. I was only need.

What do you want?” she asked, like she honestly didn’t know.
“What I’ve always wanted. What I’ll want for the rest of my life,” I told her with the same intensity I’d used to say my vows four years ago. “You.”

Man, but Molly O’Keefe know how to serve up some feels. This was another heartfelt standalone in the same world as The Debt series If you’ve read and remember the pregnant teenager that the group met in their foster home, than you’re already familiar with the heroine. And if you haven’t read that series yet (I highly recommend it), no worries, because this is definitely written as a standalone. But if you’re like me and binge read that series and salivating for more Bates, this will definitely deliver. Because OMG Bates!!! But I digress. Let’s focus on the story here.

Once upon a time she’d send a glance my way and I knew exactly what she wanted for lunch. Or that she didn’t like the person she was talking to. I could read her feelings in the set of her jaw. Yeah. Now? Not so much. She wasn’t a mystery, she was a stone wall.

Marco and Rosa’s story is certainly a tearjerker. My heart broke for Rosa and everything that she goes through. This woman is a survivor and I loved her endearing combination of strength and vulnerability. Rosa made the necessary sacrifice to protect the love of her life and future baby by risking everything and going to jail. This is a woman that has always had all the odds stacked against her. A violent neo-nazi father and brother that threaten everything she loves and forcing her into a life of petty crime that she can’t escape. Pregnant at 16 and living in foster care with a terrible man and his wife. Rosa makes the choice to sacrifice her freedom in order for Marco to get custody of their baby and after serving a four year sentence the only thing cemented in her mind is that she doesn’t deserve anything good in life, especially not Marco and their beautiful daughter. Not when her family still threaten everything.

Marco is so angry with Rosa at first. He doesn’t understand why she stayed away all this time since getting out. But soon the resentment turns into determination and he wants nothing more than his wife back.

I loved the angsty and highly emotional thread between these two. I liked the the story is clearly broken up in past and present and doesn’t have the usual flashback song and dance. It was more impactful this way. I also loved Marco’s quiet intensity and the way he fights for Rosa and her self-sacrificing.

This was such a satisfying romance with plenty of feels and a dash of sizzle. Of course I was salving for more Bates and I’m damn near ravenous after the additional peek we get of him here. If I don’t get his book next, I’m pretty sure I’ll be shaking in a dark corner somewhere.

Review: Jock Road by Sara Ney

JOCK ROAD
Series: Jock Hard #3
Genre: New Adult, Sports Romance
Author: Sara Ney
Release Date: September 5, 2019

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras . His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Repeat.

Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.

Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

AMAZON

She stands there, unmoving, letting the simple kiss simmer, tattooing my mouth forever with the imprint of hers.
It burns.
Singes.
Electrifies me.

This was So. Stinking. Cute.

Like seriously cute. With a splash of feels and Sara Ney’s signature humor to lighten things up.

Now cute isn’t typically my thing. I love my NA steamy and angsty. But there’s something about this book that just worked for me. Maybe it was the completely refreshing hero that was JJ. Here you have a handsome wide receiver that is top in his country and headed for the draft, and the man is basically the antithesis for the stereotypical college athlete in books. He’s the furthest thing from a player, completely focused on school and football, and the most endearing touch of awkward. I fell head over ovaries for his adorable brand of awkward right away. There’s just something about him that you can’t help but love and want to hug and protect at the same time.

The romance is definitely a slow burn and I LOVED the build up between JJ and Charlie. When JJ steals Charlie’s sandwich at lunch their antagonistic enemies with an undercurrent of sexual tension begins. I loved their hilarious meet cute and their other run ins. Charlie is a straight shooter that doesn’t mince words and she definitely gives it good to JJ. But when she comes to see that he’s not the stereotypical jock she thought him to be, a friendship forms that soon builds into something more.

I absolutely loved the build up of the romance. But when the build up had a deliciously slow pacing, it then took a turn and went breakneck speeds. Everything just wrapped up so quickly at the end that I couldn’t help but want more. There were some plot lines that felt slightly unfinished (like JJ’s family) but ultimately it was just the sudden shift from slow to such quick wrap up that played against it for me.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed the heck out of this story and read it cover to cover in practically one sitting. If you’re looking for a sweet, lighthearted and sexy NA romance, you can’t go wrong with this one.

She’s a beautiful woman, who’s smart and private and doesn’t want a damn thing to do with me. Apparently, that’s the recipe for my downfall. Who fucking knew?

Crackalicious! That’s the only way to describe this book. Pure, intense alpha male crack. The way only Meghan March knows how to deliver. It doesn’t matter how many books I read by this woman. She never fails to suck me right back into her fictional word and keep me riveted to her words until the very last page. Her books are binge reads. Completely unputdownable until the jaw dropping finish. And if you’ve read her books in the past, you already know the woman is also the queen of cliff hangers. Her twists will have you crying for your mama and wine. In that order. But I digress.

If you’ve read Deal with the Devil, then you may recall Cannon. But boy, does Cannon have so much more than meets the eye. The man is intense with a capitol I. He’s everything I’ve come to expect from March’s alphas and so much more. He’s utterly delicious.

Then there’s Drew. You know what I love most about Meghan’s books? The fact that she writes these fascinating, multilayered and strong heroines that I can’t get enough of. And Drew was no exception. She’s mysterious. She’s stunning. She’s also hiding some big secrets in her quest for revenge and answers. Unfortunately the one man that may hold the answers is also the man that tempts her like no other. Thus beginning a dangerous game where neither player knows all the rules and that’s guaranteed to burn both of them.

The story was deliciously enrapturing. It was a page turner and thrilling from beginning to end. It’s quick paced, sizzling, and completely addicting. I need, no I’m desperate for my next fix. My #MarchMadness is real here, people. My need for the next book is damn near rabid!

Making the jump from corporate lawyer to romance author was a leap of faith that New York Times, #1 Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Meghan March will never regret. I couldn’t shake the sense she’d let me fuck her until she couldn’t walk right, but then she’d rip one of my kidneys out and keep it as a trophy.

Ummm….Kate Canterbary, where have you been all my life? How is this the first book I’ve read by you? HOW, I ask you? Because both of my ovaries are currently giving you a standing ovation. Lady boner, party of one? PRESENT! Sweet mother of FIRE this was hot!

Now if you follow my reviews or know me even a little, than you know that enemies to lovers is my jam? And this book CHECKED. EVERY. SINGLE. BOX.

It’s so great that you have opinions,” she mused. “Even better that I don’t give a single fuck what you think.” She leaned forward, folded her arms on the edge of the bar. “Then again, I can’t give a single fuck because I don’t have any. Literally. I have no fucks because you cockblocked me.”

Now I love me a strong heroine, but Brooke was so much more than that. This is a female after my own heart. She’s a strong, independent woman that’s ridiculously successful. She’s beautiful and she owns it. She knows how to get things done in her world and she takes no prisoners while doing it. She’s a take-charge sort but what I loved most about her is that she’s totally sexually uninhibited. This is a woman that enjoys sex for sex’s sake and doesn’t make excuses or think less of herself. We need more female characters like this. I’m so over the almost 30 year old virgins that spend their adult lives pining after a man that may be out of reach to them or waiting for the right time. Not Brooke. No, ma’am. This woman is in her mid-thirtys and she’s not afraid to live. She also doesn’t mince words.

When she finds herself back in the small town she grew up in and couldn’t get farther away from, the struggle is real. She’s there to take care of her ailing father, but her sex life is now suffering. Because it’s tough to pick up a one night stand when you grew up with practically the entire male population of the town.

JJ is the sexy tavern owner and bartender that she has entirely too much history with to even consider. But he’s determined to block her game at ever corner, and it doesn’t take long before their sexually charged banter soon turns into something neither of them really saw coming.

Brooke.”
I couldn’t stop staring at his cock. I hadn’t looked away since it’d appeared. “Mmhmm?”
“Close your mouth, sweetheart, unless that’s where you want me putting this.”
I glanced up as he joined me on the bed. “Could you talk less? Your cock looks bigger when you’re quiet.”

JJ.
*dreamy sigh*
Has a more perfect male character ever been written? I think NOT. This man was everything. EVERYTHING I tells ya. He dishes as hard as he takes, and let me tell you, friends, Brooke doesn’t spare any punches for him. Their chemistry was incendiary. Absolutely incendiary.

What the hell do you want?”
I glanced down at his jeans. “Take off your pants.”
His brows pinched together. “Come again?”
“I’d love to, but I’m going to need you to drop those jeans first.” I ducked under his arm and stepped into his home. “I trust you have a condom or two.”

The pacing was perfect, though I did feel like the back and forth these two shared was a touch longer than I would have liked. But at the same time, the tension and chemistry was so delicious, that ultimately I just didn’t care.

The ending was absolutely perfect and the epilogue even better. I loved this book to pieces and am an instant fan of Kate’s. She’s going straight to my auto-buy list and I’ve already went on a one0clicking binge of her entire backlist. If you’re looking for a fun and sexy enemies to lovers romance, you need this book in your life.

Kate Canterbary doesn’t have it all figured out, but this is what she knows for sure: spicy-ass salsa and tequila solve most problems, living on the ocean–Pacific or Atlantic–is the closest place to perfection, and writing smart, smutty stories is a better than any amount of chocolate. She started out reporting for an indie arts and entertainment newspaper back when people still read newspapers, and she has been writing and surreptitiously interviewing people—be careful sitting down next to her on an airplane—ever since.

Kate lives on the water in New England with Mr. Canterbary and the Little Baby Canterbary, and when she isn’t writing sexy architects, she’s scheduling her days around the region’s best food trucks.

Spotlight, Excerpt & Giveaway: Butterfly In Frost by Sylvia Day

BUTTERFLY IN FROST
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Author: Sylvia Day
Release Date: August 27, 2019
Publisher: Montlake Romance

Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.

Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.

He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.

And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.

Roxy bounces on her feet with excitement. “Les and Marge sold their house.”I blink. “I didn’t know they were selling.”

She laughs and heads toward the front door. “That’s the thing. They weren’t.”

“Wait, what?” I hurry after her as she steps outside.

I look to the right at my home, a lovingly restored butterfly-roofed midcentury, then on to the traditional house just beyond it that belongs—belonged—to Les and Marge. Including Roxy’s, all three of our homes have unique lots set between the homes that line the street and the Sound, affording us unhindered views of the water as well as exceptional privacy—all within a twenty-minute drive of the airport.

Roxy shortens the length of her stride to allow me to catch up, then glances over at me. “The day after you flew to New York, a Range Rover pulled into their driveway, and the guy inside offered them cash to close—and move out—in fourteen days.”

My step falters, and Minnie gets momentarily tangled in her leash. The dog shoots me what I would describe as an irritated look, then keeps trotting forward. “That’s crazy.”

“Isn’t it? Les wouldn’t say how much the offer was, but I’m thinking it was huge.”

We march up the inclined driveway, my head tilted back to take in the houses scaling the hillside. Designed with big windows to maximize the view, the homes have a look of wide-eyed wonder. Our little stretch of the Sound used to be a secret, but with the housing boom taking over Seattle and Tacoma, we’ve been discovered. Many residences are undergoing major renovation to suit the tastes of new owners.

Reaching the road, we turn left. To the right is a dead end.

“Well, if they’re happy,” I say, “I’m happy for them.”

“They’re overwhelmed. It was a lot to happen all at once, but I think they’re happy with their decision.” Roxanne stops when Bella does, and we wait as the two dogs mark one of their usual spots on the gravel edging the asphalt. There are no curbs on the streets in our neighborhood and no sidewalks. Just beautiful lawns and a profusion of flowering shrubs.

“We all tried prying information out of them,” she goes on, “but they weren’t sharing anything about the sale.” She gives me a sidelong glance. “But they did share a bit about the buyer.”

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Because Mike and I both think the buyer is someone famous. A film director maybe. Or an artist. Can you imagine? First Emily, a bestselling author. Then you, a reality-TV surgeon. Now this guy! Maybe we’re sitting on the new Malibu—beachside living without wildfires or state income tax!”

The mention of Roxy’s husband, Mike, coaxes an inner smile. A New York transplant like me, he adds a welcome touch of the life I left behind to the reality I’ve since created for myself—a reality that’s just been rocked by the loss of neighbors I like.

“What are the clues you’re working with?” I ask, deciding to play along. If I’ve learned anything the past year, it’s to accept the things I cannot change. A tough task for a control freak like me.

“Les pointed out to this guy that he hadn’t even seen the inside of the house. The guy said he didn’t need to. He knew already that ‘the light is perfect.’ I mean, who would say that? Gotta be someone who’s in visual arts, right?”

“Maybe,” I agree tentatively, disquieted by the unexpected conversation. The road rises sharply before us, the incline steep enough to put a little burn in my thighs. “Doesn’t mean he’s famous, though.”

“That’s the thing.” Her words carry a note of breathlessness. “Les wouldn’t give numbers, but he did say it was crazy the guy didn’t just buy that huge compound at the end of the street. That house is listed for three and a half million!”

My mind staggers at the thought. Les and Marge have—had—a beautiful home, but it’s not worth anywhere near that much.

“I think I saw the buyer once through that big arched window in the living room,” Roxy goes on. “The blonde with him was a looker. Supermodel skinny with legs for days.”

I’m panting when we reach the top; Roxy, who hits a gym most days of the week, is not.

A quarter mile farther, there’s a street to the right leading to Dash Point. Beyond that and straight ahead, the road slopes back down and around until it’s at water level. Redondo Beach is there, as is Salty’s, a restaurant on stilts in the water with expansive views of Poverty Bay and beyond. I’m about to wax poetic about Salty’s seafood chowder when a runner dashes around the corner at a full sprint. His sudden appearance rattles me. A closer look makes me freeze midstride. My breath locks in my lungs.

There are too many things to register at once, so my mind attempts to absorb the whole man. Dressed only in black shorts and shoes, he is a visual feast of deeply tanned skin, intricate sleeves of tattooed art, and sweat-slicked, flexing musculature.

And his face. Sculpted. Square-jawed. Brutally, breathlessly handsome.

Roxy, now a few feet in front of me, gives a low whistle. “Hot damn.”

AMAZON

She’s all there is. This is all there is, this powerful thing that lives between us, this fierce and elemental force I’m no more able to control than I could control gravity.

It’s a rare dang occasion when I enjoyed the second book in a trilogy even more than the first, but man. I devoured this one!

I’ve been utterly antsy to get my hands on the second installment of this trilogy ever since the jaw dropping cliffhanger in book one. Naz and Eva completely stole my heart in the last book, but it was nothing compared to what I experienced with their story in this one.

Eva was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the man she loves, even willingly hand herself back to the devil again. But just as she’s determined to protect Naz, he’s just as determined to protect her. But in order to protect the woman he’s fallen so hard for, he needs to find her. And it’s extremely hard to find someone when they go through a lot of trouble to ensure that they can’t be found.

I don’t want to give too much away about the plot in this book, so I won’t say anything about it. What I will tell you is that there’s a secondary character that was introduced here that I’m fairly certain I’d give an ovary to get a book for. Talk about your enigmatic and mysterious characters, because OMG! I NEED.

Eva and Naz are just as potent together. Their cute joking insults and their undying devotion for each other is captivating. You can’t help but fall for these two. They are both so fiercely protective of each other. I love that Eva is no one’s victim. This woman is a survivor and a fighter where Naz is a natural protector. And together, they’re absolutely incendiary.

I’m in love. I’m so fucking in love. If I lose her, it will end me.

I devoured this book in one sitting! I couldn’t put it down. And twist after delicious twist, it continued to own me until the very last page. Now if I could just survive the unbearable wait until the conclusion.

Review: So Steady by Eve Dangerfield

SO STEADY
Series:
Silver Daughters Ink #2
Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Author: Eve Dangerfield
Release Date: August 14, 2019

Nicole DaSilva keeps her mind on the future. That’s where her perfect life is. At least it will be if she can sort out her broken engagement, get her tattoo removed, control her wayward sisters and catch the person stealing from their business…but that’s easier said than done. Especially when there’s a huge, strangely attractive tattooist in her way…

Noah Newcomb keeps his mind on the past. It’s where the demons come loose. He trusts no one and his only plans are for a vasectomy. He and Nicole make as much sense together as, well, an ex-con and a former school captain, but he’s never been one to turn down a rebound thing. Especially not with a girl as Type A hot as her.

It’s your standard ‘say anything to my sisters and I’ll call the Australian Tax Office and tell them there’s $500,000 in cash under your bed’ affair, but as Nicole and Noah hook up it’s clear they’re falling for each other. Can they meet in the present? Do they have a shot at something steady?

AMAZON

Kissing her wasn’t like kissing anyone else. It was like returning to a place you loved. The beach. The forests. His heart was thumping in his ears, his chest; every inch of his skin. This girl, this fucking girl.”

Ummm….I would like to have a moment of silence for my ovaries, please. They put up a good fight, but they just couldn’t hold up against the potency of Noah Newcomb. The man didn’t just destroy them, he obliterated them without so much as batting a grumpy and silent eye. Not that eyes could be grumpy….or silent…But whatever! You get what I’m saying here. This book was SPICCCEEEY!!!

Nicole and Noah immediately caught my attention in the previous book. Eve introduced us to the sometimes quirky but mostly manic DaSilva sisters. Nicole was the steady and normal one to the sheer craziness that was her crazy younger sister, Tabby, and tatted up twin, Sam. She also seemed to be somewhat of a black sheep of her quirky and hipster family. But when her family’s tattoo shop is in trouble and money is going missing, Nikki puts her life on hold and travels back to help. That’s also when things implode around her. Her father has disappeared, her douchbag of a finance has broken up with her after giving her the ultimatum of choosing him or her family, and her sisters are as crazy as always. Then there’s also the silent and broody complication in the form of one giant and tatted from head to foot man.

Noah is Nicole’s opposite. She goes for the nice and proper men, and Noah is everything but. He’s mysterious with an almost deadly aura to him, and yet she’s inexplicably drawn to him. And what do you get when two opposites attract? INCENDIARY CHEMISTRY.

If you love your men tatted and with a filthy mouth, Noah is right up your alley. The man is FILTHY with a capital F. I’m talking FILTHY here people. Like make your ovaries blush sort of filthy. But he’s also incredibly layered. He’s so much more than just tattoos and a grumpy disposition. This is a complicated man with some hidden pain and some dark secrets. And this girl? LOVED HIM.

I adored this story. I’m talking everything about it. It was sexy and fun and oh so delicious! Definitely a must read for all Eve Dangerfield fans.

Are you looking for the perfect light-hearted summer read? Well look no further, friends, because it seriously doesn’t get any better then this book. Think My Big Fat Greek Wedding but with one side being a crazy and quirky Indian family and all of it set on the stunning and vivid backdrop of Greeke isles. Intrigued yet? Add into all that Leylah Attar’s colorful and magical story telling skill and what you’ve got is one unforgettable romance. Seriously. This was not just a romance, it was an experience. One where the story unravels like a stunning movie reel before your eyes and leaves you incapable of setting it down for even a setting.

There’s a magic formula between making your characters downright crazy and the perfect brand of eccentric. And Leylah Attar has found the secret sauce, because Moti and her family are something else. And oh my word, I loved it.

Some people will tell you that hunger is a sensation. Lies. Hunger is the mother of all emotions. Angry? Check how long it’s been since you last ate. Tired? You probably didn’t have enough to eat. Bored? You’re eating the same thing—same place, same time. Pretty much every disaster in human history can be traced back to the lack of a burrito.

Moti has spent almost all of her life trying to live up to her mother’s expectations of her. And the woman has some…interesting quirks to say the least. And when Moti finally meets a unicorn of a man at her cousin’s wedding, she thinks she’s finally got the key to freedom. Unfortunately for Moti, not everything goes according to plans.

Beyond the crazy families being stuck on a chartered yacht and Moti’s own eccentricities, there’s a bigger problem on board; her attraction to the chef, Alexandros.

I would’ve resented the dimple that formed on his cheek. When I was little, I prayed for dimples. And now I had them. On my ass. Naturally, people with properly-placed dimples irritated me.

I cannot tell you all just how much I adored everything about Moti. It wasn’t just her usual knack for catastrophes when she so much as breathes. Or her fear of water and disappointing her mother. Or her incredibly endearing inner monologue that I couldn’t get enough of. It was simply Moti. This imperfectly perfect character that had a smile on my face whenever she graced the pages. This is a woman that you can’t help but connect with because I think all of us have a little Moti in us.

Then there was Alex. Oh my swoon, this man. Can he BE any better? I think not. Between their sunset swimming lessons and his surprise midnight snacks with notes for Moti, I fell hard and fast for him. He was perfect. OH MY GOD he was perfect.

Moti on the Water was sheer magic set on a stunning backdrop and wrapped around a swoony romance; all of it told in Leylah’s unique voice made for one incredible read. This book is not to be missed and one I recommend for every romance reader out there. It’s easily one of my favorite reads this year!

Somewhere between the quest for a three-thumbed man, a cabin with no window, and a cloudless day on a rocky island, I fell for the chef.

Review: Resist by K. Bromberg

RESIST
Series: Wicked Ways #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Author: K. Bromberg
Release Date: July 30, 2019

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Driven series comes a powerful romance about reaching great heights through low depths.

Who says you have to play by the rules to get what you want?

Agreeing to meet Ryker Lockhart is my first mistake. Rich, handsome, and more than intriguing, he thinks blackmail will bend me to his will.

But he’s wrong.

I may have done a few things that weren’t exactly legal, but I have my own reasons for that. The last thing I’m going to do is let some high-powered divorce attorney come into my life, have my body, and rule my heart. Not to mention ruin everything that I have carefully built in just a short amount of time.

But as much as I try to resist him, and against my better judgment, there is something about him that has me agreeing to his proposal.

I’m putting everything on the line for him. I just hope I won’t lose everything when this is all over.

It won’t be as easy as you think to walk away from the high life. Money is a powerful thing. Once you have it, it’s hard as hell to live without, Vaughn.”I start to protest but then realize he doesn’t get it. He knows how much he is paying me. He sees the expensive clothes and jewelry I have on but has no clue they are from thrift stores and pawnshops.

I’ll walk away.”

The chuckle he emits scrapes over my nerves and irritates them. “No, you won’t. You’re addicted to the power of it. Of knowing you can bring a man to his knees. Of the ability to use your body to get exactly what you want.”

You don’t know a thing about me.”

But the ghost of a smirk that plays at the corner of his mouth makes me fear he just might. “You don’t have to be embarrassed by it, Vaughn. I get off on the same type of power when I’m in court. It’s a high. Something once you have a taste of, you only seem to want more of.”

Don’t paint your experience on my canvas,” I murmur.

Here we are,” he says, pulling my attention to our surroundings instead of to him. We’re standing outside the entrance to The Club, and every part of me deflates a little at the thought of having to go back inside with him.

Of having to play more of the part, when this, me getting to be a little more of myself, has been so unexpected and nice.

Here we are,” I repeat.

We stare at each other, the shadows of the night playing over his face and reminding me I barely know this man and that I do, in fact, want to know him more.

I’d be more than happy to drive you home—”

But—”

He puts a finger to my lips. “But that’s too personal.” He steps into me so that we’re both in the shadows now on the broad sidewalk.

It’s too personal,” I agree as I draw in the scent of him, the feel of his palms as they run up and down my arms. And for the briefest of moments I forget what I’m doing here and that he’s paid me for it because all I can think about is him kissing me. All I want is him to.

Why don’t we go—”

His lips close ever so slowly over mine so that I have no choice but to sink into the kiss. A kiss that’s soft and tender when every other one we’ve shared thus far has been raging with a lascivious desire.

But not this one.

My body heats up nerve by nerve. Muscle by muscle. Sensation by sensation.

Until he leans back so his forehead rests against mine and we breathe in the same air.

Good night, Vaughn.”

What?

My head snaps up as Ryker takes a step back, regret owning every part of his expression, including the desire warring in his eyes.

I don’t understand.” Flummoxed, I stand where I am and just watch him as he takes another step back and points to the taxi pulled up to the curb at my back.

Your cab is here.” His smile is pained.

But . . .”

He lifts a hand in silent goodbye before he turns the corner, leaving me staring after him as the taxi driver ushers me into the cab.

Tears sting my eyes as he pulls away from the curb.

Ryker just gave me exactly what I asked for—no sex—and yet every part of me is confused by it.

Because I want him.

And now I’m not exactly sure what I’m supposed to do about it.

She’s like goddamn lightning—that’s what she is. She strikes without warning and is going to singe every damn part of me no matter what kind of shelter I try to hide under.

This book. OMG y’all!!! This. Book.

*licks every finger*

This was one of the most delicious enemies to lovers books I’ve read in a while. I can’t even. Still can’t even. It was just that satisfying.

I’ve been a long time fan of K. Bromberg, but I never expected her to write THIS level of alphahole. But not only did she, but she made me fall head over ovaries for the man, all logic forgotten.

Now let’s talk about this for a hot second, because I will say that if serious alphaholes aren’t your jam, this book isn’t for you, my friend. But this girl? Devoured it with the type of fangirling glee that this author seems to bring out in me. GAH!

I’m not a fixer. I’m not a man who wants to step in and save the day. Far from it. I’m too goddamn selfish to be that way. So why am I walking into this knowing there’s bound to be complications?

Rycker Lockhart is a devastatingly handsome and incredibly successful divorce attorney. He’s cold, ruthless and all business. He learned early on that women are a complication that he doesn’t need beyond a night. He’s also the demanding client of a secret escort service that caters to the rich and power hungry.

The heroine is the owner of the escort service that’s doing what she needs in order to get something that means the world to her with all the odds stacked against her. She’s tough as nails yet with a core of vulnerability that I couldn’t help but connect to immediately. This is a woman that has no problem being the first to say no to Ryker, who’s none too pleased to hear it. But then he makes her an offer that she’d be insane to turn down.

The story is one big power play in motion and I for one devoured it. The constant push and pull, back and forth, cat and mouse game that these two had going utterly owned and captivated me. I couldn’t get enough of it, no matter how frustrating it got. It was just so delicious. UGH.

Ryker is almost maddening in the games he plays. The man is ruthless with a capital R. This is no knight in shining armor. This is a man with some demons and an ice wall around his heart. I was completely enraptured by him. As much as he frustrated me at times, I still couldn’t get enough of him.

The characters are multilayered and the author peels back their layers page by page, until you’re ravenous for more. They both have so much depth, which I seriously loved. It’s so much more than a power play between a ruthless man and a desperate woman. There’s plenty of secrets and twists that will keep you glued to the pages. And then that ending!!! I. DIE. I need. NEED the next book desperately!!!

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines, and damaged heroes who we love to hate and hate to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs and soccer practices, more often than not with her laptop in tow.

Since publishing her first book in 2013, Kristy has sold over one million copies of her books across sixteen different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over twenty-five times. Her Driven trilogy (Driven, Fueled, and Crashed) is currently being adapted for film by Passionflix with the first movie slated to release in the summer of 2018.

She is currently working on her Everyday Heroes trilogy. This series consists of three complete standalone novels—Cuffed, Combust, and Cockpit (late spring 2018)—and is about three brothers who are emergency responders, the jobs that call to them, and the women who challenge them.

AMAZON

I’ve been trying to find the right words. The proper combination of sounds that would make you forgive me, that would make up for what I said and did. But those words don’t exist.”

Ever since Natasha Anders introduced Grey and Libby in More Than Anything, I’ve been completely enamored and invested in their story. If there’s one thing that I love more than a hero that royally screws up with his woman, it’s watching him grovel to get back into her good graces again. And this book? It’s one long, delicious, and emotional grovel.

Now I love a good alphahole as much as the next girl, but this book didn’t focus on that. You get plenty of Grey’s generally cold disposition in the first book. Enough of it to know that when the man makes a mistake, it’s the biggest mistake of his life. This book focuses on him dealing with the repercussions of that mistake and trying to grovel his way back and somehow make amends. You get flashbacks of what transpired to bring Grey and Libby to the point where they are now. I loved that Libby really grew into herself in this book. She goes from a besotted girl to a woman that’s not afraid to make him work for it. She’s not willing to forgive and forget, nor should she. I mean, the man thought their child was the result of an affair.

The flow is really organic and the pacing is superb. It highlights every bump along their road and twists and turns your heart right along with them. Their journey is painful and emotional and totally enrapturing.

Nothing But This was a painfully beautiful story of second chances. It was sweet, funny, and utterly gut wrenching in parts. It wasn’t an overly angsty read but it was certainly an emotional one. I really loved this book. It was a gripping and charming and hits every single feel.
