Review: Masked Innocence (Innocence, # 2) by Alessandra Torre

The man was sinful. It wasn’t just the looks that made him dangerous, it was the cocky confidence that dominated every move, every touch. And the frustrating yet ecstatic fact about the whole package was that he could back it all up…

Julia Campbell never knows what to expect with win-at-all-costs Brad De Luca. And she’s starting to like it that way. She gave up safe, conventional relationships when she let the elite divorce attorney seduce her into his world. Now that he’s determined to strip her naked of every inhibition, she’s in danger of falling too deep and too fast.

But their affair begins to feel even more dangerous when a murder leaves a trail of suspicion that points straight to the mob…and Brad. Trusting a man with a bad reputation and a past full of secrets seems like a mistake. But when she’s forced to make a choice, the consequences will take her further than she could ever have imagined.

4.5 Not so Innocent anymore Stars

I fell for the feisty, smart-ass Julia that calls me on my shit. But I’m owned by the vixen that you become behind closed doors.

If you haven’t yet read Blindfolded Innocence, do not read my review. There’s no spoilers for this book, but there will be spoilers of book 1. You’ve been warned 😉

Masked Innocence starts immediately where Blindfolded Innocence ends. Julia and Brad are together, but keeping the relationship a secret. Brad has taken Julia completely out of her comfort zone in her sexuality, but she’s reveling in it. She’s finding out that she’s not quite the good girl she thought herself to be.

I should have felt like a slut, a dirty whore. But instead I felt liberated, aroused. It was an interesting discovery, to know that I liked being dirty. I wanted to be stared at, pointed to, to have men lining up to fuck me. Inside, I felt a release of some tie, some leash undone, and I knew my descent into sexual awareness was just now starting.

Good thing, Julia, since Brad’s kink is to swing.

While this book had a good share of it’s steamy moments, it was a much different feel in comparison to book one. With the murder of one the law firm’s partner, we get a sense of intrigue and suspense. Julia has the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time and asking too many questions, and now her life hangs in the balance. Who is threatening her life? And just who is Brad De Luca?

The man I had turned to was the one I should have run from. I didn’t know what bothered me more, the new danger facing my body or the risk I had brought to my heart.

Brad is determined to protect Julia at all cost, even his own life. But that certainly doesn’t stop him from having her anywhere he can. There was kitchen sex, masked party menage sex, office sex…

Well you get the idea here…

Julia and Brad’s relationship continues to evolve into something deeper. Brad finds himself doing something that he never imagined himself doing; falling for her. And you know what they say? The bigger they are…

I did’t want a relationship! Didn’t want to (view spoiler)[fall in love (hide spoiler)] or be committed, or be required to share the intimate details of my life! But I’m here- with you, a curse of a woman who has taken all my fucking walls and shredded them like fucking tissue paper in your tiny little hands!

As much as I love Brad, I really love Julia’s sassy personality. I found her to be his perfect match. She really gave as good as she got

To the most wonderful woman I have ever met. May we spend the rest of our lives together.
“That’s your toast?”
“You don’t approve?”
As I’m sure you have figured out by now, I have a very healthy self-esteem, bordering on egotism.”
“Bordering on?”
“Shut up. Regardless, you have been with a disgusting amount of women, and will be with a hundred more before you die. For me to be the ‘most wonderful’ woman you have ever met, and you toasting to ‘spending the rest of your life’ with me rings a little…”
“Fake?”
“Bullshitty.”

The book leaves off in a HFN-ish type ending, but there is still danger looming in the future. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of Julia and Brad’s story and seeing what the future has in store for them.

When Cash Mayson was forced to choose between the love of his life and his unborn child, he knew exactly what he had to do. No matter how broken it left him.

When Lilly Donovan was forced to accept that the guy she loved wasn’t who she thought he was and became a single mother, she knew exactly what she had to do. Proving just how strong she was.

What happens when years later you find out that everything you thought you knew was a lie?

Can two people who once loved each other overcome the obstacles that are thrown at them and fall in love all over again?

Cash Mayson had forgotten how it felt to be loved Until Lilly came back into his life. And now that he remembers, he will do everything within his power to keep not only the woman that he loves, but also his children.

The power of love is a beautiful thing.

“Is that what you do? I mean do you often try to hit on women in coffee shops by buying coffee for them?”

“I can tell you with one hundred percent truthfulness that I have never done that before.”

“Never.” A look passes over his face I don’t know what It means but I don’t like it.”

“Do you date a lot?” I ask quietly wondering if he thinks I will be some kind of conquest.”

“I haven’t dated.”

“You haven’t dated?” I look him over again he must think I am stupid guys who look like him must date a lot.

“I have never had to date.”

“What does that mean?”

“If I want to sleep with someone I don’t need to date them.”

“What?” I breathe that is not at all what I expected him to say. “You’re the guy that can get any girl he wants without ever putting any kind of effort into it.” He shrugs the gesture making me feel sick at the same time I want to kick him in the nuts. Maybe the red hair does make me have a temper.

“I never lead anyone on or tell them things they want to hear.”

“So that makes it okay?”

“I don’t know if it makes it okay but it’s who I am.”

“Well I am glad that this is coming to light now rather than later.”

“Oh no,” He shakes his head. “This thing with you is something completely different.”

“Yeah I know.” I tell him crossing my arms over my chest. “Its different because I will not be sleeping with you.” I lean forward. “EVER.”

“Well I guess we answered the question about red heads and their tempers didn’t we.” He smiles showing off both dimples. “But trust me when I tell you I would not have driven almost three hours to sleep with you that’s not what I am looking for.”

I’m going to make you fall in love with me again.

Now I have a confession to make here.
*whispers* I didn’t like book 1.
*Ducks for flying tomatoes*
Now now, don’t get all judgy with me here. I loved the set up and idea behind the book. I just wasn’t big on the delivery. As in, the heroine drove me slightly batty. The 2nd book was better, but there was still something missing for me.

Now you’re probably sitting there and thinking to yourself, why is this crazy bitch reading book 3 when she wasn’t thrilled about the first 2? Well because I knew that the first two books the author was still coming into her own as a writer, but I loved where the series was heading. Possessive, slightly domineering, sexy as hell alpha male brothers?

Well after writing this book, I’m pretty sure the author thought

Because everything that bothered me in the first two books was nowhere to be found here. I LOVED IT.

I’m a sucker for a second chance romance, and this one delivered it in spades!

Four years ago Lilly and Cash met by chance at a coffee shop. And as in true Mayson brothers fashion, that’s all the time Cash needed to know that Lilly is his “one”. They date and finally share an amazing night together…only for things to fall apart the very next day.

Cash is head over heals for Lilly, but when his crazy ex (hookup, fuck buddy?) comes back with the news that she’s pregnant he has no other choice but to do the right thing and be there for his baby. So he makes the ultimate sacrifice, breaking not only his own heart but Lilly’s in the process.

When Lilly receives Cash’s cold text message that it’s over between them, it’s the last thing she expects. The fact that she is now pregnant and Cash is not at all the man she though he was is not an easy pill to swallow. But she knows what she has to do for her unborn baby, and that’s stay strong and move on, raising her baby as a single mom.

Now years later when their paths cross again, can Cash win Lilly’s heart once more or is the damage he did between them irreparable?

The one thing I really love about Aurora’s alpha males, is when they see the woman they want they go after her with all the grace of a speeding train. Nothing gets in their way. They know what they want, and they will have it. Cash knows that he will stop at nothing to win Lilly back, he just needs to prove to her that he’s not the man she thinks he is.

And I forgive you, Cash. I definitely approve of your methods in making up for lost time.

But it wasn’t all hot sexy loving. (Which I will never have too much of in these books) I absolutely loved seeing the romance grow between Lilly and Cash. Cash was this perfect combination of dirty talking alpha male and sweet.

There was also the added element of Cash’s psycho ex to keep things interesting. And let me tell you…Jules?

Talk about your crazy bitches. Good lord. The things that she did had me screaming at my kindle in the middle of an empty room.

You know how sometimes there are these characters that just make you want to take off your earrings, put on your ass kicking boots, take out a baseball bat, jump into your kindle and beat the ever loving hell out of them? Well, Jules was that character for me.

I wish that Lilly had stood up to her, but that never really happened. Luckily Cash and his family really came through in that.

But gah! Jules!

Let me end this before I go off on another Jules tangent here. I adored this book. The second chance love story, the added element of their kids together, catching up with the rest of the Mason brothers, it was fantastic.

You get your scorching hot sex scenes with a great story and I for one cannot wait for Nico’s book…especially after the teaser in this one.

If you liked the first two books, you will love this one. And if you’re like me and the first two books weren’t that great for you, then read this one and you will change your mind about the series. Aurora Rose Reynolds is definitely an auto buy author for me after this one.

I know that this is just one day. A day when winter and summer collide. I know I won’t see you again. We go our seperate ways. But we have this now, let’s not waste it.”

Whenever I’m in a book slump, picking up a Barbara Elsborg book is a no brainer for me. I have yet to find a book by her that I did’t love. It’s always this perfect combination of angst, scorching hot sex, broken yet endearingly quirky characters, scorching hot sex, and some more angst. It’s my favorite book recipe. Seriously. DELICIOUS

Jai Winter is famous model that is stuck in his own living hell. Blackmailed into being pretty much a sex slave, he doesn’t see any other way out but one.

He hates himself, he hates his situation, and more than that he hates the 2 people that are forcing him to do this for the last 10 years. Protecting a secret that he believes would destroy his family, Jai is forced to go along with whatever kinky and filthy thing may be demanded of him. The only thing that makes it bearable, is losing himself in a haze of drugs and alcohol.

But then one chance meeting in an airport changes everything…

Summer Dey is a meteorologist coming back from an 18 month researching trip to South America, where she ran to escape a tragic accident. When she arrives at the airport, she’s shocked to discovered that someone has placed illegal drugs in her suitcase. She’s terrified of the repercussions that are sure to follow. Does she get rid of them and chance whoever wants them coming after them? Or does she take them with and chance being arrested? And then she meets Jai…

I don’t want to give anything away, and saying much more would definitely be a spoiler. This is one of those books you simply have to read to find out on your own.

What I’ve come to love in Barbara Elsborg’s books, is this trademark quirky humor that all her characters seem to have.

I want to take care of you,” he whispered. “I don’t want anyone to ever hurt you.”
“I can fight my own battles.”
“I want to fight alongside you.”
“Will you show me your sword?”
He narrowed his eyes. “Later.”
“I hear it’s a big one.”
“Nothing you can’t handle.”

Both Jai and Summer are broken characters, but they’re each dealing with a different darkness. Jai from his present, and Summer from her past.

I adored Summer and at the same time my heart broke for her and what she’s been through. Her own family treats her like a social leper for something that wasn’t her fault. There were times I wanted to reach through my kindle and throttle her mother and sister.

Jai’s situation was absolutely gut wrenching. The things that he’s forced to do, and the way that he attempts to deal with it was incredibly difficult to read. He’s basically a puppet on the strings of 2 evil and immoral puppeteers. I have never wished for 2 characters to be killed off more that these two.

But the way that Jai and Summer help each other heal was lovely.

I’m not typically of insta-love, insta-lust, or insta anything. And while it may not have been insta-love here, it was pretty close. But in the case of this book, it just worked. You can completely understand how these 2 characters are drawn to one another and need each other. The connections between them was beautiful. I loved how each helped mend a painful emotional hole in the other.

At the end of everything, this was about a beautiful love story between two broken people in the midst of impossible circumstances.

I love you.”
“I am lovely,” she whispered.
“Yeah, you are. You’re my light, my warmth, the summer in my life, the sun in my world. You helped me see possibilities when everything seemed black and hopeless. You brought my heart back to life.”

If you’ve read Strangers, both Kate and Charlie make an appearance in this book. I loved catching up with them and seeing where they are a few years after. I liked how Miss Elsborg managed to fit them into the story.

Review: ★Dungeon Royale★ by Lexi Blake

Broken by betrayal, one woman holds the secret to his redemption…

An agent broken

MI6 agent Damon Knight prided himself on always being in control. His missions were executed with cold, calculating precision. His club, The Garden, was run with an equally ordered and detached decadence. But his perfect world was shattered by one bullet, fired from the gun of his former partner. That betrayal almost cost him his life and ruined his career. His handlers want him to retire, threatening to revoke his license to kill if he doesn’t drop his obsession with a shadowy organization called The Collective. To earn their trust, he has to prove himself on a unique assignment with an equally unusual partner.

A woman tempted
Penelope Cash has spent her whole life wanting more. More passion. More adventure. But duty has forced her to live a quiet life. Her only excitement is watching the agents of MI6 as they save England and the world. Despite her training, she’s only an analyst. The closest she is allowed to danger and intrigue is in her dreams, which are often filled with one Damon Knight. But everything changes when the woman assigned to pose as Damon’s submissive on his latest mission is incapacitated. Penny is suddenly faced with a decision. Stay in her safe little world or risk her life and her heart for Queen and country.

An enemy revealed

With the McKay-Taggart team at their side, Damon and Penny hunt an international terrorist across the great cities of Northern Europe. Playing the part of her Master, Damon begins to learn that under Penny’s mousy exterior is a passionate submissive, one who just might lay claim to his cold heart. But when Damon’s true enemy is brought out of the shadows, it might be Penny who pays the ultimate price.

Review
4 stars

Sex isn’t polite, Penelope. Sex is dirty and nasty and raw. I want you rough. I’m a bloody man and you’re going to treat me like one. And I’m going to show you just how much of a woman you are.

This series has been a go to of mine whenever I need a hot BDSM read with a great plot and some action and suspense thrown into the mix. And it seems to only get better and better with each new book.

Dungeon Royale starts off immediately where Love and Let Die ended, with Damon being betrayed by his long time partner in MI6 and shot twice. Barely surviving the attack, months later Damon is still recuperating. He wants back into the field, but his superiors are questioning his medical reports. So when his boss presents to him an opportunity to prove that he can still perform despite his injuries, he jumps at the chance. There’s just one thing he needs for the mission, a female partner and submissive, and the mousy company translator seems the perfect fit for the job.

But there’s also another thing standing in his way; he has to convince her.

Penelope Cash has spent her life taking care of others and letting people stomp all over her. She’s shy, awkward, and hasn’t had the best of luck with men…if you can even count the one relationship she had as an experience. She has always been attracted to the sexy as sin Damon Knight, but she knows that he would never go for a woman like her. That doesn’t stop her from wanting more from her life. A dangerous mission may just be the answer, if only Damon could convince her.

She’s scared out of her mind, Nige, and I rather think it isn’t about taking a bullet. She knows I’ll keep her safe. So that makes me really wonder what really frightens her. I think she’s a prudish chit and she’s worried I’ll get her knickers off.”
“Did you ever stop to wonder if perhaps I’m simply not interested in even pretending to sleep with you?”
“No. Not once.”
“Maybe I don’t like men, Mr. Knight.”
“Oh you like men, love. And you like me.”

I was a little afraid at first that Penny might irritate me. I’m not a big fan of the super shy and mousy heroines. But I shouldn’t have been concerned, since this is a Lexi Blake book. Penny was an amazing heroine, she’s not at all what she first appears to me. I loved watching her personal growth and seeing her come into her own as the story progressed. She was the perfect match to Damon.

The action and suspense in the story was none stop. It was quick paced and entertaining as hell. Then there was all the characters from the previous books that I’ve loved that made an appearance in this one. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of Ian.

I’m not retiring and I’m not managing an office for you.”
“Come on, Knight, I promise to send someone to assassinate you at least once a month. It’ll keep your adrenaline up. It’s not so bad, man. Hell, I’m lying. It’s horrible. You get to sit around and listen to everyone whine constantly. ‘I need time off. My wife is giving birth. I can’t sleep with that target in oder to get information because I’m a faithful husband.’ God, they constantly whine at me

Then there were the sex scenes. And in this series, there is only one thing that you can expect them to be. SCORCHING.

There was a new character introduced in this book, and I can only hope that he will eventually get his own story. Nothing better than a sexy Aussie accent 🙂

And like with all the rest of the books in the series, the last chapter give you a preview of the next book. All I can say to you Miss Blake is that you are a damn sadist for teasing me this way. As excited as I am to finally get my hands on Simon and Chelsea’s book, I’m pretty sure I may go a little crazy waiting until Aug 19.

But then again, patience has never been a virtue of mine.

This is not a series that I would recommend reading out of order. Although Lexi gives plenty of background about each character in their book, it just wouldn’t be the same. Many of the characters get introduced early in the series and helps you get a stronger feel for them. Damon Knight was first introduced in book 5 and Penelope is a new character. I’ve loved every book in this series, so I definitely recommend reading them all.

Review: ☆Six Sons☆ by Lili St Germain

I have lied.

I have cheated.

I have given my body and my life to the man who destroyed my family and left me for dead.

I have killed, I have sinned, and worst of all, I have enjoyed the misery of others.

I have licked the salty tears of a father mourning his firstborn son, and nothing has ever tasted so sweet.

I have died, and I have been resurrected, a phoenix from the ashes.

I know I’m going to hell. I’ll burn in the fiery pits alongside Dornan and his sons for the things I’ve done, and for the things I’m about to do.

But I don’t care. It will be worth every lick of the devils flames on my guilty flesh to destroy Dornan Ross.

One down, six to go

Review4.5 stars

Well well well, Lilli St. Germain, you evil genius you. Just when I began to question whether or not I’m going to like what happens in book two, you hit me over the head with the two by four of your dark mind brilliance. Touche, madam. Touche. I am utterly hooked, line and sinker on this series and cannot wait to see what you have in store for the next installments.

If you questioned the sanity of Sammi’s plan from the previous book, rest assured because it is all coming together more and more with each book. All the questions you may have had in Seven Sons get addressed in this one.

Six Brothers starts off immediately where Seven Sons left off; with the blowback from Chad’s murder. So what can I tell you about this book without giving anything away?

Sammi is more kick-ass then ever. I gained a deeper understanding for the whys of what she is doing.

Dornan is even an ever crazier, sick and fucked up asshole. But he is also that much closer to being caught up in Sammi’s web of deceit.

I see through his control, into the blackness of his very soul. I see the scars I have left on his cold, dead heart, on the tiny part that has the capacity to care for his own offspring. A primal, human instinct that lives inside of him despite his hatred, despite his abject twistedness.

There is much more that gets revealed about the past and what happened to cause the devastating ripple effect of murder and pain 6 years ago.

Sammi and Jace will pull at your heart string even more

Be prepared to finish this book in one sitting and be left begging for more. Six Brothers grips you by your throat from the first chapter and will keep you at the edge of your seat until the last page.

Now if only I didn’t have to wait until March 30 for book 3.

Review: With or Without Him by Barbara Elsborg

“The most dangerous refuge could be his lover’s arms.”

Everyone has at least one deep-seated fear. For Tyler, it’s being in debt. He’s so desperate to get out and stay out of it, he’ll do almost anything-including selling his body at Saturday night sex parties.

But he refuses to open his mind to anyone, especially the men paying to use him however they want. The only time he’s truly happy is during the week at college, when he can escape into his music.

The moment Haris sees Tyler playing piano at a concert, he falls hard, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make the guy his. Even if it means-for the first time in his life-opening his wallet as wide and desperate as his heart.

20,000 to live with a good-looking guy for four months? How can Tyler resist the chance to ditch the sex party scene for good? But neither man realizes how much they’re risking. And when outside forces close in, ready to destroy them, the trickiest part about the next four months could be just surviving.

Warning: Contains a “for hire” bad boy with a filthy mouth, an awkward guy with a penchant for BDSM, a hypochondriac butler who won’t shut up, a dog called Alcide, and a lot of hot and dirty M/M sex.

4.5 Sweet baby jebus that was HAWT stars

I’m paying for your time, your exclusivity, your undivided attention. I’m a busy guy. I know what I want and I want you.

So what can I tell you after finishing this book?

Is in my pants. Sweet mother of cock but this book was hot. Tyler, Haris, Tyler and Haris

Books like this sometimes make me wish I was a gay man. What? Too much?

But I digress…

Tyler is in debt and is desperate enough to do some extreme things to get out of them. So what if he sells his body to whoever pays to attend the very exclusive Saturday night sex parties if they will help him pay off his school loans? Everyone has a price. But his deep-rooted fear of being in debt dates back to one of his darkest childhood memories, and it keeps him going.

Tyler doesn’t let anyone get close. They may get his body for the night, but never anything else. His focus, emotion, and passion all go towards his one and only love, his music.

When Haris first spots Tyler playing the piano at a concert, he knows he has to have him. So when he follows him after the event and rescues him from a BDSM scene gone bad at one of the parties Tyler attend, he knows just how to hook him. 20,000 plus 10,000 for clothes for his time, his body, and his exclusivity.

Tyler sees a way to get out of his debt and to slake his lust for the gorgeous Haris, so he agrees and then it’s a whole lot of

I love Barbara Elsborg’s writing. I’ve been a fan since my first book by her An Ordinary Girl. Her books are always the perfect mix of suspense, mystery, quirky humor, broken yet endearing characters and lots and lots of super HOT SEX.

And this book was certainly no exception. Just add in a sarcastic and hilarious butler, and it was perfect. I was riveted from the very first chapter. The mystery and suspense sucked me in, and the connection and sexual chemistry between Tyler and Haris just sealed the deal. I didn’t want this book to end.

Of course what’s a Barbara Elsborg book without a little…or a lot of angst and drama. And this book really delivered on that end. I loved the angst for the majority of the book. It’s no secret that I have a soft spot for the assholes, and Haris had his moments. Truthfully, there were times where he would do something that left me feeling a little

You know what they say about assumptions right, Haris? Maybe you should take note. Then you wouldn’t continue doing it again, and again, and again, and AGAIN!

Then there was the last 10% of the book. Holy drama overload, batman. I think I may have reached my quota for drama tolerance at 85%. We had a man out for revenge, someone threatening Tyler’s life, someone coming after Haris, some drama between Haris and Tyler. I think I was at my limit when I hit the last few chapters.

And then Haris just goes and does something and I was PISSED. I mean really pissed. I’m talking

PISSED

But then alls well that ends well. He did make up for it in the end, and I was really satisfied with the way he did it. So if you’re a fan of super steamy, well written MM romance filled with action, mystery and suspense, I highly recommend this book.

Spotlight, Interview & Giveaway: The Billionaire Banker series by Georgia Le Carre

It’s no secret that I’m a self proclaimed book junky and nothing gets my girly bits tingling more than a super steamy book. What? At least I’m honest about it. I read a lot, and truthfully it takes quite a bit for me to pause and think to myself, “Wow, this book is amazing!” So imagine my surprise when I got that from the contemporary debut novel The Billionaire Banker (click on the link to read my review). This book sucked me in from the very first chapter and I was completely enraptured in the story, the characters, everything! Now some of you might look at that title and think to yourself, ‘been there, read that’, right? WRONG! Has this type of trope been done before? Most definitely. But Georgia Le Carre put a fantastic and original spin on it to make it that much better. In short, I can’t recommend theses books enough. (And not only because the awesome heroine shares my name :))

And now with the highly anticipated release of book 2 in the series, Forty 2 Days, I simply had to share this fantastic series with all of you.

Georgia Le Carre also happens to be one the most sweetest, gracious and down to earth authors I have ever had the pleasure of working with. She was nice enough to let little ol’ me convince her into an interview.
What’s your greatest character strength?
I haven’t truly tested it, so don’t quote me later, but I think I’m a forgiving person.
What’s your weakest character trait?
Bone-lazy tendencies.
Why do you write?
Because it is miles easier than working in slaughter-house or a chicken farm.
Who or what influences your writing?
Everything influences my writing.  What I read in the paper tomorrow could totally slant my work next week or next month.
Who or what influenced your writing over the years?
The great names have always had an impact on me.  The beauty of their sentence structure, the purity of their thought processes, and the total clarity of their expression.
What is your greatest strength as a writer?
Speed.
Who do you admire?
The rare person who stands up for what is right no matter what it costs them.
What is your favourite quality about yourself?
My ability to move on quickly when things go pear-shaped.
What is your least favourite quality about yourself?
My inability to stay and fight when things go pear-shaped.
How has your upbringing influenced your writing?
“Give me a child until he is seven and I will show you the man.”
Are your characters real people?
Most of my characters are composites of people I have known or my own fantasies of how people should behave in a given circumstance.  I once met a young lady in a repressed country who told me she would rather jump out of a high window and kill herself than give her virginity to any other than her husband.

So I asked her, ‘But what if it was to save your mother life?’
She shook her head sadly.  ‘My mother would understand and approve of my decision not to give up my virginity in exchange for her life.’

Even though I was very young then, her words did not sit well with me.  In my mind she is Lana expressing the true ideals of love.
Did you learn anything from writing this book and what was it?
Yes, I learned about human frailty.  How easily the human mind is led by another, by that which it perceives to be stronger than it.  We are sheep herded by wolves.
If you could leave your readers with one bit of wisdom, what would you want it to be?
Do not just look, see.
When you end your career, stop writing, and look back on your life, what thoughts would you like to have?
Glad that it is finally over and excited to embrace whatever lies on the other side.
What do you hope your obituary will day about you?
She had fun.
So there you have it, my little dirty birds. A fantastic series and an even more fantastic author. I highly recommend you check it out. And you can connect with Georgia on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/georgia.lecarre

Review: The Billionaire Banker (The Billionaire Banker #1) by Georgia Le Carre

4.5 Completely Captivating Stars

My world is ugly and corrupt.   It only looks good from the outside. When our time is over, I must return you the way I found you, pure and innocent. Let me hide a little while longer in your world.

WOW
I am completely blown away, utterly captivated, and totally sucked in by this story.
Now be honest, you probably took a look at that cover, blurb, and title and thought to yourself that this is yet another mostly unoriginal take on the extremely overdone plot line, right? A rich and jaded hero meets the naive virginal heroine, They have some sex, they face some obstacles, they have some more sex, and then it all gets wrapped up in a pretty little bow. Well that is precisely what I thought going into this. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

There were a few Britishisms that I wasn’t familiar with, and the writing style took some getting used to, but once I did I simply couldn’t put this book down. You know how sometimes you read a book and you just know that this author was meant to write? Georgia was that author for me. She is able to take words and weave them together into an intricate story that almost has a poetic and lyrical feel to it. I was completely enraptured in the story, the writing, and the characters. But enough of my gush mode…

What would you do if you were desperate? If the mother you love more has less than a few weeks to live due to stage 4 cancer? If you knew that all that keeps you from the potential cure with an unorthodox doctor is a few thousand dollars that you just don’t have? Would you sell the only thing you have to barter with, you body? That is precisely what Lana Bloom does.

Having grown up in poverty, luck doesn’t seem to be on her side. Particularly when the first person to court her proposal is a sadistic man with some extremely brutal tastes. But when Lana catches the eye of the very rich and even more jaded Blake, she sees the answer to her problems.

Blake comes from old money. There is nothing and no one that he cannot have, buy, or fuck. Life has left him cold, brutal, and jaded. But when he sees the young beauty at the restaurant he knows that he has to have her…at least until he gets bored with her.

The arrangement? 3 months of having her however, whenever, and wherever he wants. The price? One hundred thousand pounds.

I was afraid that Lana being 19 and innocent, she would grate with me with her naivety. But while she may have been innocent and naive, it was in a very endearing way. I soon found myself forgetting that she was only 19. I found myself growing to like her the more I read. She had a hard time coming to terms with the arrangement, and Blake wasn’t exactly flowery or romantic with his explanations.

I also found myself getting more and more invested in their connection. The pacing was perfect. There was no insta-anything (well maybe insta-lust on Blake’s behalf). Their relationship wasn’t smooth or perfect. The more I read about Lana ad Blake, the more I grew to like them.

The steam level was perfect. It wasn’t overdone but just the perfect amount. And the way it was written was equal parts erotic and beautiful in a very effortless way.

Suddenly like a whip passion curls and races through her body, surprising her with its ferocity. It erupts in a strangled cry that surprises even him. He looks at her possessively, proudly, as if he has branded her. He is the owner of her lust.   In his hands and mouth and body he holds her pleasure. He said he wanted to fuck her senseless and he does. His pace becomes punishingly hard and fast, but she loves the pounding. Something is billowing through her; it feels as though it could bring some kind of release. When it comes it is a riotous, glorious tidal wave that rips through her.   She becomes one with him, one body, one mind, one soul.

Before long feelings begin to enter the equation for Lana. As much as she knows that it’s a dead end and will only lead her to heartbreak, she can’t help but fall for Blake.

What I truly loved is how realistic the turnaround for Blake and his feelings was. He was cold and brutal in the beginning, but ultimately things begin to get complicated when he finds his feelings taking a drastic turn.

This book was so much more than a simple story of billionaire falling for the innocent virgin. It had a dark undercurrent to it which was essentially what fully captured my attention. I spent the whole book waiting for the other shoe to drop…and when it did…WOW.

Was it perfect? No. There were moments where the transitions weren’t clear and I found myself getting confused about who’s POV I was currently reading. But this was a small speck that I soon found myself completely forgetting. It’s not often that I find a book that keeps me up all night, unable to put it down until I know what happens next.

I am blown away that this is Georgia’s debut contemporary romance novel.

Was it steamy? Hell yes.
Was it overdone and oversexed? Not even close.
Is it a book I’d re-read? In a heartbeat
Was there a cliffhanger? Yes. But luckily book 2 comes out Jan 24, and the author has let me know we can expect a HEA for Blake and Lana there.

This book took me out of my 2 week book slump. I simply cannot recommend it enough. Georgia, dear, I am kicking myself for not reading this sooner. I will be stalking your upcoming releases and you have completely won me over my jaded little heart.

Now I am done with my fangirling episode. All I can say is read this book! Read it! Hopefully you’ll love it as much as I did. And I thank you

Review: ★Broken Dove★ by Kristen Ashley

Far too young, Apollo Ulfr lost Ilsa, his wife, the love of his life and the mother of his two children. The grief of her loss does not settle in his soul, it solders to it. But when he discovers there is a parallel universe where his wife may have a twin, he feels there’s hope and sets about bringing her to his world so he can have her back.

But Ilsa Ulfr of our world is married to the parallel universe’s twin, Pol, who is not a good man. Not in any way. She’s on the run from him and the last thing she wants is to be transported to a fantastical world and be forced to take his side as his wife, even if he is not Pol. And Apollo finds the broken, bitter Ilsa nothing like his beloved and he further wants nothing to do with her.

But darkness is looming and evil is amassing. Apollo must protect his land and keep his family safe, including the new Ilsa.
Review-DGR4.5 stars
All my life, I’ve never been happy. So I never imagined even being that way. Until now.

Now THAT is what a Kristen Ashley book is supposed to be like. Are you taking notes Forever? Because you should.

Know everything that you love about KA books? Oh you know what I’m talking about; the descriptiveness, the sexual tension, the super hot Alphas, the sassy and quirky heroines, the action, the steam, the writing, the inability to put it down even though it’s crazy long. Ringing a bell? Yea, that. All of which have been missing in her recent releases through her publisher for me.

I was ready to give up after Kaleidoscope ended up being a 2 star read for me. I began to think that maybe one of my all time favorite authors may be starting to lose her touch. Then I read this book, and I realized it truly is her publisher that seems to be dimming my enjoyment of her books for me.

I loved it. While The Golden Dynasty continues to be my favorite book in this series, this book still hit the spot.

For those that are like me and have been anticipating this book hoping it lives up to the promise, rest easy, kick back, and be ready to enjoy KA at her finest.

Maddie, look at me and listen.
“Come closer,” I begged.
“I need to gag you and tie you to the bed,” he declared.
Oh God.
Awesome
“Yes,” I breathed, pressing closer to him again.

Got your attention now, didn’t I? Good.

So what can I tell you about Apollo?

8127919._SX540_Seems to sum it up quite nicely. He was the perfect combination of asshole, sweet, possessive, protective, dirty talking sex on a stick.

The one thing that I’ve grown to love in Kristen Ashley books is that level of hate/sexual tensions between the hero in heroine tend to have in the beginning. It was no smooth sailing for these two, not even close.
Apollo is still getting over the death of his wife. Ilsa is running from a past she never wants to repeat. Together they had to work through quite a bit to find their common ground.

Ilsa was such a great heroine. She was quirky, funny, endearing, and just a little bit broken.

When Apollo finally gets his head out of his ass and begins to work on their relationship…well let’s just say he did it WELL.

Why not 5 stars then? Well, I wasn’t as enthralled with this book as I was with Golden Dynasty. It was still fantastic, don’t get me wrong. Just not quite 5 star material.

Would I re-read it? Maybe…certain parts MOST DEFINITELY.

I can’t wait to get my greedy little hands on Pol’s book now. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for more of KA’s self published awesomeness.
