The legacy of the Black Dagger Brotherhood continues in a spin-off series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author…

Paradise, blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor, is ready to break free from the restrictive life of an aristocratic female. Her strategy? Join the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training center program and learn to fight for herself, think for herself…be herself. It’s a good plan, until everything goes wrong. The schooling is unfathomably difficult, the other recruits feel more like enemies than allies, and it’s very clear that the Brother in charge, Butch O’Neal, a.k.a. the Dhestroyer, is having serious problems in his own life.

And that’s before she falls in love with a fellow classmate. Craeg, a common civilian, is nothing her father would ever want for her, but everything she could ask for in a male. As an act of violence threatens to tear apart the entire program, and the erotic pull between them grows irresistible, Paradise is tested in ways she never anticipated—and left wondering whether she’s strong enough to claim her own power…on the field, and off.

Do you like playing with fire, girl?” he growled. Because if you keep looking at me like that, I’m going to burn you to the ground.”

The BDB series is sentimental for me. It’s the series that got me into reading in the first place. It began what was to become what I refer to as my PNR binge of 2009. I was obsessed with that series…until I hit book 6. Then it slowly but surely began to lose some of its luster for me. By book 11 I had given up. It became too muddied with too many secondary POVs that the romance began to wane in the background. I missed the original brothers, the romance, the true BDB, true? So when I heard that JR Ward plans to come out with a new series that will be back to what the first few BDB books started off as with the original brothers; Wrath, Z, Butch, V, Rhage? Well, let’s just say I knew I’d part with an ovary to get my grubby little hands on it.

I’ll start my review by answering two questions first:

Is Blood Kiss like the BDB used to be?
Almost. It was probably the best Ward book I’ve read since BDB book 8, and that’s saying a lot.

Is this a true spin off?
Yes and no. Black Dagger Legacy focuses on a whole new slew of characters in the form of BDB trainees. But all the original brothers are also front and center. While the author does a good sum-up of important details, readers that haven’t read the BDB series (or at least the first 5 books) would not enjoy it as much. It’s set heavily in the BDB world, and you don’t get much detail about the world building. The original BDB is what sets that up, so I highly recommend reading that first. So let’s call it a quasi spin-off.
Blood Kiss follows two couple story lines; Butch and Marissa and Paradise and Craeg. I’d estimate it to be about 60/40 with no additional POVs to be found. Just the four. I’ll give you a moment to contain your shock…
The two story lines run flawlessly together and drive the story line for the other. I, of course would never complain about getting more Butch considering he’s one of my favorite brothers.

Paradise is a fully blooded daughter of the king’s First Advisor who also happens to be one of the Founding Families of the glymera. She’s expected to follow the protocol of the females of the glymera, but she wants nothing to do with it. Instead, she joins the BDB training program, to learn how to protect herself and her race. While growing up sheltered in the aristocratic society, I was happy to see that Paradise wasn’t the stuffy, formally speaking heroine I anticipated her to be. She knows her own mind and while she may be sheltered on some things, she can kick some ass in her own right. And she definitely proves that when she’s tested to her limits in the rigorous and and intense training program. Her one distraction comes in the form of the one male that should be hands off for her; a civilian.

Craeg is a nobody that came from nothing. After a brutal tragedy leaves him with nothing but thoughts of ahvenging it, he joins the BDB training program. Having handed his application to Paradise when first applying, he thinks that she’s just a simple secretary. But he still knows that he’s not good enough for the likes of her. He has nothing to offer and so no matter how enticing the female may be, he does his damnedest to push her away…even as he lusts for her at the same time.

If I kiss you,” he growled, “there’s no going back. I might not fuck you right here, right now, but I’ll have you on your back the instant I get the goddamn chance.”

In the midst of this story line you get Butch and Marissa who are dealing with issues of their own. Butch continues to put Marissa on a pedestal that she doesn’t want to be on. After the glymera turned her back on her, her sole focus has been the Safe Place and her hellren. But there’s a piece of Butch that he’s still keeping hidden from her and she’s determined to find out what that is.

I absolutely loved getting more Marissa and Butch. Their story line felt like a natural progression of their relationship without feeling like drama was being contrived. Butch’s issues and Marissa’s unresolved feelings with her estranged brother were bound to hit, and they hit here. I think I liked Marissa even more in this book than I did in her own. She truly grew into her own and became a strong heroine. As for Butch? What can I say about my favorite Southie? The man never fails to get my ovaries to flutter.

I have to admit I was a lot more invested in the developing storyline between Marissa and Butch than I was with Paradise and Craeg. Paradise and Craig’s relationship was a tad too stretched out for my particular tastes and I was just itching for them both to get on with things. That being said, I did like them as individual characters. They just didn’t quite have the intensity as a couple as some of the original BDB ones did for me. That’s not to say it was bad, but I’d say that Marissa and Butch were the glue that held the story together.

The suspense story line came in the shape of a bad guy that wasn’t a lesser for once. Admittedly I was a bit underwhelmed by this as well, as I had figured out who it was pretty early in the story. It was a bit too predictable and I wished for a little bit more on that end. I also didn’t quite form a connection to any of the secondary characters that were introduced as new trainees here. They all had their uniqueness but none drew me like the original brothers did. But then again, it is hard to live up to the greatness that was the first 5 books so I may be judging unfairly.

I was happy to have a book with just four solid POVs that finally felt like the PNR it started out as originally. While it didn’t quite blow me away, it was a great beginning to a series that I’m hoping will stay with the same formula and get even better with the next installment.

She was a killer with blood on her hands, but she wanted to give her heart away.

You know what I love about this series? The fact that sixteen books into it, each book continues to be just as good if not even better than the last. Kresley Cole continuously delivers with badass, sassy and snarky heroines, and tortured and oh so sexy heroes. That’s not to mention the addicting story line that’s guaranteed to keep you reading well into the night. Truth be told I was hoping to see a certain lykae twin finally be getting his book and I was a little thrown when I saw the character names in the synopsis and had not the slightest idea who they were. As a die hard IAD fan, even my puny brain memory manages to hold on to every detail of this series. I was a little afraid that the book may be filler, in order to really stretch out the fans’ want of the previously introduced characters. I should have never doubted the genius that is this author, however. And once you read the book, you’ll see exactly why. Kresley stays true to her characters’ world and everything that’s going on around them, and the story of Josephine and Rune is yet another puzzle piece that builds up to a larger picture. But let’s move onto the actual book here, shall we?

You come by your trailing name honestly.”
Rune the Insatiable. He buffed his black claws. “Wringing orgasms and breaking hearts for eons.”

As an avid lover of the manwhores, I’ve read my fair share. And I can easily say that Rune the Baneblood is quite possibly the biggest manwhore I’ve read to date. Rune is a powerful warrior, half dark fey and half demon. His blood is as poisonous as his kiss, which is how he’s come to be the deadliest assassin for the Møriør. He’ll seduce the secrets out of his enemies, only to kill them in the blink of an eye soon after. He’s as skilled with his cock as he is with his bow and arrow. His past has ensured that his heart is as cold as the rest of him and not even a romp in the bed with a nymph so much as spikes his blood pressure…until a mysterious beauty turns his world on it’s axis…

Anything you think you might miss? I’d make up for it with size.”
She gave him a light squeeze, then withdrew her hand-
“Some cavemen carry big sticks. Doesn’t mean I want to get clubbed with it.”

At only 25 years old, Josephine knows how to look out for number one. There’s only one person she’ll ever put first, and that’s her beloved younger brother that she was forced to give up in order to give him a better future. If the name Thaddeus rings a bell, it should. Thaddeus is the young boy with he mysterious unknown powers we met earlier in the series. Josephine is an orphan of unknown decent and powers that she doesn’t understand. Growing up in the mortal world but with no interaction with the “other” beings that occupy it, she has no idea who she is or where she came from. All she knows is that she kicks ass. She also yearns for love. For another person to share her life with. To say that her first meeting with Rune is interesting would be an understatement, but even a naive girl like her knows a manwhore when she sees one. So why does his scent make her mouth water?

His grin, he well knew, was as crooked as his morals, and held a hint of snide; females creamed when they saw it.

Kresley Cole has a signature formula that she doesn’t waver from and I can’t get enough of. Her heroines are sassy and snarky as hell. I absolutely love it! Josephine may be young, but what she lacks for in years she more than makes up for in sass. And she definitely gives Rune the Insatiable a run for his money. Rune is as tortured as they come, and as more of his history comes to light, you begin to understand more and more about why he is the way he is. The chemistry between them is absolutely undeniable. If possible, I swear this series just gets hotter with each new book. And Sweet Ruin was practically scorching!
Sweet Ruin teaser-DGRI devoured this book and couldn’t put it down for even a second. It was action packed, sexy, and everything I’ve come to love about this series. I loved Rune even if I wanted to beat him over the head with a blunt object for his utter stupidity at times. I also loved that we got that additional puzzle piece behind the mystery of Thaddeus and what it could mean for the Accession. There was a number of secondary characters introduced that I’m already salivating for a story for. Especially Orion. This series continues to be an addiction for me and I never want it to end. Can’t wait to see what’s in store next.

BOOK TRAILER

Excerpt

With no more than a flash of thought, he was inside the man’s room and standing at the foot of a large bed.Locks. Such a useless human defense.

He cocked his head to the side and examined the book splayed open on the man’s naked chest. It looked as though it had fallen there when he’d drifted off to sleep, his fingers still resting against the glossy cover.

Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the Greek Myths.

Now that is an unlikely coincidence.

A sinister smile morphed Alasdair’s lips, and he touched the tip of his tongue to the fangs elongating from his upper gums. The familiar surge of adrenaline caused his skin to come alive with awareness as his body prepared itself to do what it had been created for.

Raising his hand, he flicked his wrist and the covers whisked back. The man beneath was no more aware of the action than a slight shift in the air as a low sigh escaped him and he stretched his body, turning his head on the pillow.

The sight that greeted Alasdair made the hours he’d spent tracking well worth the time. When the human took a breath, the knotted drawstring tie of his linen lounge pants caught his attention. Fuck, that made him want to indulge his carnal side first.

Maybe this was the root of his current obsession. In fact, that thought was followed by one truer to his perverse nature. How long would it take to have him clutching those covers from lust if I wanted it? And as Alasdair continued to observe the human, he realized just how much he wanted it.

The chest where the book was lying was covered in a light dusting of blond hair. It trailed a path along the center of the man’s sternum to his stomach, which looked as hard as his own. However, unlike his own abdomen, this man’s skin would be warm to the touch.

Perhaps he could take a moment or two and… No, he didn’t have the time, and that really was a shame. A meeting had been called this evening, and he was due at the Assembly Hall soon. The last thing he wanted to do was piss off the Ancients by being late.

So, with the speed and the stealth only his kind possessed, he was on the bed and stretched out above the man, and his mouth hovered over the ear closest to him.

He threw the book, which landed with a loud thump on the floor, and couldn’t stop himself from slipping one of his hands beneath those thin pants to curl his fingers around the flaccid cock he found inside. When a soft groan left the human, Alasdair used his other hand to capture his captive’s wrists like iron shackles and pin them above his head. Before the man had a chance to wake, he delved inside his head and projected an image of where this hunt would finally end.

Alasdair-Teaser 3

Review4.5 starsAlasdair-DGR

A lot can happen when he sun dips down and the moon comes out to play…

Ella Frank is a chameleon of genres. The woman is a damn genius is what she is. Whether it be contemporary, MM, Urban Fantasy, and now PNR, it seems like she really cannot do any wrong. I had no idea what to expect when I picked this book up, but I knew two things for sure:
1. Ovary survival was not guaranteed
2. I was gonna enjoy the hell of out it.

Alasdair is part 1 of what’s planned to be a series of three books and boy does it lure the reader in. Greek mythology, vampires, and sizzling hot sex. Intrigued? As you should be.
Truth be told, I’m always hesitant with the first book in a PNR series because almost always it will suffer what I refer to as a case of the firsts. What I mean is, between the introduction of all the characters, the world building, and everything in between, I often find myself taking a while to get into the story and wrap my mind around everything. I was beyond thrilled and not a little surprised that that wasn’t the case here. I was sucked into the book immediately. The character development, the rich world building, the unbelievably sizzling sexual tension is what made this book the unputdownable read that it was.

You get a perverse kind of pleasure out of this, don’t you?”
“Out of?”
“My confusion. My fear. It turns you on, right? What kind of sick fuck are you?”
“Is that a trick question? I’m not a person, Leonidas. I’m vampire. That’s the kind of sick fuck I am.”

Alasdair is a first sired; one of the most powerful vampires in existence second only to his sire; Vasilios. Ruthless, unapologetic, and with a magnetic sexual appeal there’s not much in life that Alasdair doesn’t have. His face has lured plenty a human to their death while experiencing a pleasure unlike any they’ve ever experienced. But he’s also a vampire of particular tastes. Being alive for centuries has ensured that not just anyone experiences the pleasure of receiving his carnal attentions. But then one human changes everything…
Alasdair teaser-DGRLeonidas Chapel is thrust in a world unlike any he’s ever imagined existed. But worst of all? He’s inexplicably drawn to his captor. Alasdair stirs not only his blood but there’s clearly a connection between them that raises quite a few questions.

There’s quite a few fascinating secondary characters that are introduced here that I can’t wait to find out more about; Isadora, Elias, Vasilios, Thanos. I was also captivated by the greek mythology that seems to wrap around this particular take on vampires.

What I really loved about this book was the way that Ella managed to maintain the focus on the couple while building a world of intriguing secondary characters around them all without ever having it be too much. You get a little more of their world piece by piece but it happens as the connection between Alasdair and Leo takes place. I loved the dynamic of that. Having read quite a few PNR series in my day, I can tell you that it rarely happens when a first in a series sucks me in the way this book did.

Fair warning though, this book will put your ovaries through the ringer. Ella gives the term sexual tension new meaning, I swears. The burn! The burn! It hurt so good. Even when I felt like I might implode if they don’t do it soon. It only served to stoke the fire even higher when it did happen. There’s nothing better for me in romance than the burn of sexual tension leading up to the main event and boy does it burn in this one. I didn’t know whether to cry, rage, or ice my ovaries? But damn if I didn’t love every agonizing second of it.

Book two will focus on a different character while continuing to build on the story and mystery that began in this one. I’m well and truly hooked, so bring it on Miss Frank. Bring. It. On.

Review4 starsSpiral Of Need- DGR

His hunger for her wasn’t soft or tame or romantic. It was vicious, sharp edged, and biting. It was raw desperation that had teeth and claws, and it had him in a tight grip.

Spiral of Need is the spin off series from Suzanne Wright’s Phoenix Pack series. And while it’s book 1 in this new series, I’d highly recommend starting with Phoenix Pack first because there’s a lot of interconnecting characters and readers coming into this without having read the other series first may find themselves lost. Although there is plenty of background given on the story, reading Phoenix Pack first will simply give a much needed background on certain situations in the story and the characters that take place here.

I’ve been a huge fan of this author since I first read Feral Sins, and while none of the other books have lived up to the greatness of the first, I still find myself gravitating towards them when I’m craving a fun and super sexy PNR book.

Ally Marshall is a wolf shifter and a seer. Her kind isn’t exactly revered in the shifter community, but her current predicament with her pack has less to do with that and more to do with a psychotic mate of her ex boyfriend. Calling in a favor, Ally finds herself under the protection of the Mercury Pack, where she seems to be even less welcome for her seer abilities, though without a psycho female determined to drive her crazy at every corner.

Derren Hudson despises her kind, and with good reason too. A seer once cost him everything. But a favor to a friend finds him protecting her while realizing that the burning lust he feels whenever he’s near her won’t go ignored for long.

Spiral of Need is nothing new that I haven’t read from this author before, but no less entertaining. You have yourself a sassy, kick-ass heroine and a domineering male. A whole lot of fun banter and all the favorites from the previous books making an appearance.

She likes to see me in pain. She’s a sadist.”
“My daughter is NOT a sadist.” Shay took her daughter with a playful huff.
“She shoved a breadstick up Greta’s nose.”
“Because she senses evil.”
Darren blinked. “I can’t argue with that.”

The one thing that did intrigue me quite a bit here was the introduction of a few secondary characters that I’m really hoping will be getting their own book soon. ESPECIALLY one particular sociopath. What can I say? I love me the crazy ones.

Full of action, snarky banter, and sizzling steam, Spiral of Need definitely hit the spot and I can’t wait for more in this series.

Review: ★Piercing Ecstasy★ by Setta Jay

Piercing Ecstasy
Author: Setta Jay
Genre: Erotic, Paranormal Romance
Release Date: January 31, 2015

After a hellish month of searching, Immortal warrior Jax and his brethren, the Guardians of the Realms, are nowhere near finding the sleeping God who was stolen by their enemy. As if that isn’t problem enough, after millennia, other Guardians are dropping like flies to the mating frenzy. Jax never dreamed he could be next. After all, he’s too flawed, his sexual appetite too insatiable to ever be completely fulfilled by one being. Could a lone female even handle his needs let alone quench his never ending desire?

Ileana lives a solitary life in the shadows, a ghost thirsting for vengeance. A warrior Ailouros, half cat, whose sheer existence has been kept secret by a special ability no one can know exists, she is closed off and trusts no one. After thousands of years spent in near isolation while hunting her prey, she has finally found a clue leading to the location of her enemy. Revenge is at hand.

When a fantastically hot Guardian unknowingly puts himself in the middle of a deadly intrigue, nearly ruining her careful plans, Ileana is forced to make a choice. Her one chance at finding vengeance will hinge on hurling them both into piercing ecstasy.

Warning: This book is intended for an adult audience. There are dirty talking Guardians with bad language, some violence, and explicit scenes hot enough to give you cat scratch fever

They may not know each other, but that would change. Soon. She was his. That may scare the shit out of her, but not him. The minute she touched him their fate was sealed.

Alright look, I want to tell you that what drew me to this series initially was the intricate world building and the fantastic characters, but I’d be flat out lying. Truthfully what did it was the super dirty, incredibly erotic, and always pant inducing sex. Yes. I’m deep like that (that’s what she said)

Being 5 books into this series though, I can tell you that it’s so much more than just super sexy. I’m addicted to the story and the characters. I’m practically salivating for the next book every time I finish a new one and I’ve become a huge fan of Setta Jay and this amazing world of The Guardians that she’s created.

She gives you those possessive uber alphas but then she pairs them with strong witted and sassy heroines that never fails to make for one entertaining and sizzling read. I can happily say that Piercing Ecstasy was no exception. Don’t let the sexy ass cover fool you. These books are a lot deeper (that’s what she said) than they imply. The characters and story are well developed and while the sex is super hot, it’s not what drives the story. While each book may technically be read as a standalone, I’d highly recommend reading this series in order to truly enjoy it as the story arc continues throughout the book and the characters get introduced early on before their own individual books. You would have a much better understanding and appreciation of them if you read the books in order. Setta likes to give a sneak peek into each character at the end of the previous book, and the first true peek we got of Jax was in Tempting Ecstasy

His dick had always ruled his life. He was used to that.

At the end of Tempting Ecstasy, Dacia’s sister, Mia is the confused she-wolf that thought that Jax was her mate. I wasn’t sure how to take Jax’s almost callous dismissal of her and his implication that he could never be faithful because one woman or man would never be enough for him. Luckily all it took was him finding his true mate for him to sing a whole different tune entirely.

Ileana is exactly the type of heroine I’ve come to expect from this author. Tough, take no prisoners attitude, but of course unable to fight the allure of her mate and alpha. For years Ileana has been a ghost. Bent on revenge against the beings that killed her parents and left her an orphan, she’s accustomed to hiding in the shadows. Not having a scent helps her immensely. And hardening her heart has helped her even more.

Her mind was her own. Her body, hers to give as she wanted. Her heart a hardened shell that allowed nothing in. She was a warrior.

While on an information gathering mission, she stumbles onto the intoxicating scent of her mate, she discovers that her heart may not be quite as hardened as she thought when it comes to one determined alpha. And soon their relationship begins to grow into something much more than just mating frenzy.

You’re really starting to piss me off with hat shit, and trust me, you don’t want that. You. Are. Mine. This is for fucking eternity, and I take that shit seriously.”

Piercing Ecstasy was a quick paced and action packed read. There’s quite a bit happening here, along with more development in Brianne and Vane’s situation. Then there’s crazy Elizabeth and her quest to release her even crazier lover, Apollo. And of course there’s that tantalizing little peak into Drake, the one guardian that I’m absolutely dying to find out more about. I always had a feeling that I knew who his mate was, but then Setta goes and throws that mother of a plot cliff here that my mind is still reeling from.

I can’t recommend this series enough to any lover of sizzling hot PNR. I love everything about it; the writing, the characters, the story….the sex. Ha! If you haven’t discovered this dirty little world of The Guardians, I suggest you get acquainted. Your ovaries will thank you. Trust me.

On a side note…

It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness that’s intoxicating…and deeply annoying.

When Marcus wanted something, he would hunt it down until it was his. And he wanted Roni Axton in his bed…

As disappointed as I was with Carnal Secrets I was equal parts dreading and anticipating this book. I knew if I didn’t like this one, it may be the end of the road for me with this series. That’s not to say that I didn’t dive into it immediately upon having it land on my kindle. Something about this series will just always be a guilty pleasure for me. It’s the combination of great PNR, humor and super hot sex. It just does it for me. Though with the wait between each book I managed to completely forget who Marcus was. But then again, my puny brain has the memory span of a month at most, so this may have most likely been just me.

I’m so happy that this book was definitely MUCH better than Carnal Secrets. Though it wasn’t as good as the first book for me (Feral Sins will forever be my favorite).

Roni is Nick’s sister and enforcer in her pack. She’s a total badass bitch.

She’s also a tomboy that struggles to see her own appeal. So when the super sexy Marcus begins to hit on her mercilessly and pursue her with a single minded intent, she has a hard time believing that he’s truly interested in her.

Marcus is a bit of a manwhore, but he has his reasons. His past pretty much ensures that he not want to find his mate. But Roni draws him to her like a magnet. There’s just something about her and he knows that he won’t be satisfied until he has her underneath him…or on top, side, standing up…he’s not picky.

I gotta say that Marcus and Roni were definitely very well matched. They’re both sharp with the wit and have equal standing in their packs since Marcus is also an enforcer. I loved watching him wear Roni down. When the man sets his mind to it, he definitely sets him mind to it.

I’m not sure if my inner pervert has gotten super picky lately or what, but I didn’t find the sex quite as hot as it was in the previous books. I did like the story quite a bit, however. There was a little bit of everything; suspense, action, and lots of sexy times. Of course what would this series be without the rabid grandma and her insults? All the rest of our favorite characters are back too.

As much as I enjoyed the story, it just didn’t managed to completely grip me as the first 2 books did. I had no issues setting it down and coming back to it. That’s not to say it wasn’t a great read, it just wasn’t one of those can’t-put-it-down ones for me. There’s a lot that’s going on here not only with Roni and Marcus, but Marcus’s past and their packs. I did find that everything else that was happening at times took away from the romance of the story, though not immensely.

Fans of this series will definitely enjoy this one. And if you’re like me and didn’t fully enjoy the 3rd book, this one is much better. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this series.

I’d fight for you, Danni. Right to the fuckin’ end. I’d never stop. No matter what shit was put up against us, I’d keep fighting.

This book was everything I love about PNR. Having read and loved Take, I was super excited to get my hands on more of the Scars. But where Take read more like a standalone and had the romance be the predominant element, Stygian had a lot more PNR elements that I couldn’t get enough of. Having read Take first, I couldn’t help thinking that I was missing a lot of the backbone of the story behind the Scars. Don’t get me wrong, there was plenty of back story and world building in that book. But it still took me a while to wrap my mind around everything. There was even a glossary of terms in the beginning. I really think that Nashoda should have began this series with this book, because it managed to do what Take couldn’t. It totally and completely sucked you into the world building element of the story. It truly fed you every bit of detail piece by piece where you’ll never feel lost (no glossary required). If anything, I’d recommend starting with this book first before you read Take, for no other reason than this book will absolutely hook you on this series.

Danni spent horrific days in captivity at the hands of a sadistic monster that got off on her pain, but she doesn’t remember it. Bits and pieces will randomly slam into her mind, but she can’t put them together. All she knows is that she was taken, and then she wasn’t. The nightmarish flashbacks torture her even more because she doesn’t know if they’re real or not.

But nothing haunts her more than a pair of captivating green eyes and the ruthlessly handsome face that’s attached to it. So much so, that she’s been obsessively painting the man for the two years after her captivity not knowing if he’s a memory or just a figment of her imagination.

Inside, I was a tornado of emotions- tearing, pushing and pulling in every direction. I couldn’t figure out what the hell was wrong with me.

Balen is a Scar that sold his soul to the devil in order to stop Danni’s pain. Having to watch her torture day in and day out while being completely powerless to help her ate away at him until finally he made a decision that would very well cost him his life. If the vampire blood he consumed won’t kill him, the Deaconry and The Wraiths will since it goes against their every rule. But he’d do it again if he had the choice. What he can’t seem to do now, is get the woman out of his mind. Inexplicably drawn to her, he gravitates to her like a magnet even though his presence is dangerous to them both.

I loved getting more history on The Scars here. You truly get a grasp for their world, especially with additional POVs with a few integral secondary characters. Adding additional POVs to a story on top of the MCs can be tricky, since sometimes they may just complicate things. Fortunately, Nashoda Rose pulls this off seamlessly. I really felt like the secondary POVs only added to the story without ever being confusing.

I absolutely LOVED Danni and Balen not only together but as individual characters. Danni has this tough shell, but inside there’s this incredibly endearing vulnerability to her. It was also such a refreshing change to get a hero like Balen. While he manages to have this air of ruthlessness to him, he’s so soft and caring with Danni. You can truly feel the connection between them, and not just on the sexual level. Though let me tell you, that sexual level was hot as hell!

I was completely enraptured with this story. It sucked me in from the very beginning and I couldn’t seem to put it down until the end. Between the romance for Danni and Balen, there was so much else going on.

My only quibble is that I couldn’t help but feel there was supposed to be a book before them, one for Anstice and Keir. There was a lot of reference to what happened between them, as well as what happened between Anstice and Balen. Now while it does get explained in more detail towards the end, I feel like maybe it should have been addressed earlier in the book.

Aside from that, there was really nothing else that I didn’t love. I was practically salivating for any and all additional details between Waleron and Delara. Man oh man does their story sound like it’s bound to be a juicy one. I was already captivated by them in this book and they were just secondary characters.

Stygian was action packed, steamy, and filled with intricate world building. Not many authors can pull of switching between contemporary and PNR, but Nashoda definitely pulls it off and pulls it off well. PNR is my first love, and to say that I’m picky about it would definitely be a gross understatement. While I wasn’t quite sold on the series after Take (I just loved that story as a whole), this one absolutely sealed the deal for me.

Then of course there was the teaser for Kilter’s book. Now if there’s anything that this author does extremely well, that’s write one hell of a sexy asshole. Kilter? Sweet baby jebus, I’m not even sure if my ovaries will survive him. But what a way to go! The set up for his book sounds absolutely amazing!

Nashoda is incapable of writing a book that I don’t completely devour, and this was no exception. If you’re a fan of steamy PNR, then you definitely don’t want to miss this book. I’d suggest starting with Stygian first and then reading Take. You’d enjoy it a heck of a lot more 😉

MAX

Feelings are a luxury I can’t afford. Hidden behind a shield of quiet placidity, I keep my secret safe from those who’d use it against me. Until him—the tatted up, self-centered Scar assassin hired to protect me.

He takes pleasure in tormenting me, chipping away at my defenses as if I’m a toy to be played with. I hate that he continuously reminds me that I’m nothing more than a job. I hate that my body responds to his touch. I hate him.

JASPER

I’m not a good guy and I don’t pretend to be. Condemn me if you want, I don’t give a fuck. You’re nothing to me. No one is … except her—Max. She’s my target. And I was hired to do a hell of a lot more than protect her … I was hired to kill her.

It should’ve been simple, but it was complicated as hell.

…we were all a product of our past; it was just how we lived with what we experienced that shaped us into who we became.

Having read Nashoda’s entire back list, it’s safe to say that she has this incredible ability to completely suck you into her stories in just one short chapter. And then she’ll keep you glued to the pages, at the edge of your seat, with a quick paced plot that’s as sexy as it is entertaining. When I found out that she’ll be releasing a new PNR book, I jumped at the chance to read it, because let’s be honest, I’ll read anything she writes. But I also love PNR; it was the genre that first got me into reading, so I hold a special place in my heart for it. In her other books, Nashoda has given us her dark and gritty effortlessly, and now she can safely scratch PNR off her list, because she has a new fan in me.
The final pieces of me burned into ash then scattered into the sky- disintegrating. Disappearing.
I stared up at the bright stars and they twinkled as if they were laughing at me.
I closed my eyes. Then coldness descended and sank into my heart.

You really don’t get eased into the story at all. Nope. You get thrown right into the deep end. And good luck putting it down after that.
Jasper Kyelin is an asshole. He’s also a ruthless assassin Scar known for his ability to kill first and ask questions later. His past makes sure he drowns out any feeling that may tie him down, and his present is filled with meaningless women and violence.
Max is hiding; hiding from an evil that turned her life upside down when she was just 10 years old and forever left a scar on her body and soul. She’s also hiding behind a shield of placidity. But she’s not quite the shy little mouse that she comes across as being. Beneath her indestructible shield is a woman that has a fierce heart and backbone to boot. Neither one of them know what hit them when Jasper is hired to protect Max from an evil force that’s after her…

I was good at reading people, knowing what they’d do before they did it. Jasper was a broken puzzle piece, one second sexy and flirty, the next dark and scary…

One of the biggest things that will differentiate a great PNR series from a mediocre one is world building. And Scars of Wraith introduces the reader to an incredibly unique word with a rich and vivid world building. At first I felt like I was jumping into a book that read like it should have had a predecessor. I was wondering if perhaps I missed a novella or something that had first introduced us to the Scars. I later learned that this was originally a series that is no longer published and has since been re-written. However, I can tell you that by the end of the book every loose end and question is explained.
Now there’s one thing Nashoda knows how to do, and that’s give us a super sexy asshole. Because let me tell you, Jasper was that in spades. I couldn’t get enough of him. He was mercurial, cocky, and you didn’t know whether he’d insult you one moment or come onto you the next. Gawd. It was delicious.

Looked like I’d have to work a little to sink between her legs. Because that was what this was. A lusty obsession with a girl I shouldn’t take, but I was good at doing the wrong thing. Had done the wrong thing my entire life, now I just accepted it and didn’t make excuses for who I was.

The sexual tension between Jasper and Max was so hot it was almost unbearable. The author really makes it stretch and burn. So that when the two of them come together? It was an explosion of nuclear proportions.

I’m not nice, Max.”
She raised her chin a bit. “I know.”
I looked away for a second and said quietly, “Don’t hate me in the morning.”
I loved the constant banter between Jasper and Max. Max, although with demons of her own, still managed to give as good as she got. She really made Jasper work for it at times. Their relationship was definitely no smooth sailing with the hidden secrets they both had. But it certainly made for one action packed read.
I loved that both of the MC were strong characters but with an endearing vulnerability to them. It just made me fall for them all the more.
The world of the Scars is definitely unlike anything I’ve read before, and I’m so hooked. I loved it from start to finish. It made me laugh, it made me swoon, it made me pant, and it made my heart pound. It was everything I love about a great PNR series and I sincerely hope we’ll get more books in it soon. Especially for Xamien and Guise.
You’re the stars that burn away the darkness, Max. That’s what it feels like when I’m with you. Like I’m all lit up inside with brilliant specks of light. And when I touch you, it’s like I’ve grabbed one out of the sky and I’m holding it in my hand. Flawless. Bright. And fuckin’ beautiful.

If you’re a fan of sexy PNR, then you definitely don’t want to miss out on this one. And if you’ve loved Nashoda’s previous books, then you’ll definitely enjoy this one. I can’t recommend it enough. It was a perfect combination of rich world building, sexy romance, and action.

Love, itself, is a beast that can make a man crazy with lust and insane with jealousy.
I know. I felt it once. And I swore I’d never put myself through it again.

PNR fans, if you haven’t yet discovered this series, I’m not sure what rock you’ve been living under. What I do know is, you need to crawl out from under there and discover the incredible talent that is Keri Lake and her Sons of Wrath series. Trust me. Three books in and it just continues to get better and better. I would not advise reading these books out of order and the story develops throughout the series, and even though the author does a great job of reiterating the important details without sounding redundant, it’s still better experienced read in order. With that said…let’s move on to the review
Gavin is the oldest brother, and the one I’ve been incredibly curious about since the very beginning. While he seems to be the most balanced of the the Wrath brothers, he still obviously battles demons of his own (pun intended). After the events from book two and the trickery of a certain woman, he finds himself sentenced to the worst kind of torture in Obsidian…for the second time in his life. Worst of all, his sentence is for a crime he had no idea he was committing, but this is one sentence that just may result in his death…
Sabelle is a succubus unlike any of her kind; she hasn’t taken a soul in her entire existence. She’s a loving mother, a caring sister, and a hard worker that soon finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place. Or in other words stuck between her what she’s forced to do as a succubus and what she truly yearns for; freedom. When she sees a dangerous opportunity that just may give her the answer that she seeks, she’s forced to call in her marker. When she saved Logan’s life at the request of Gavin, she also gets to call a marker of her choosing at the time that she needs. And there’s no better favor to be owed than one from a Wrath demon.

Gavin is plucked out of Obsidian in exchange for enslaving himself to Sabelle…but all she wants from him is his protection. Too bad that passion between them soon becomes too hot to resist…

For you, I would commit the vilest sins and revel in the flames of hell, if that would grant you some happiness.

This is no fluffy PNR book. Hell no! It’s gritty, sexy, action packed and fast paced. It’s also filled with so many twists and turns you will never know up from down. At over 500+ pages, it’s long, and it’s also completely unputdownable.

Keri has this talent for writing these broken, slightly tortured, and yet incredibly endearing characters. She also is able to effortlessly weave in a few secondary characters POVs without it ever taking away from the story. I was practically foaming at the mouth for the little insight that we got into Zayne in this book.

As for the rest? You’ll have to read to find out 😉

But what I can say is this may have been Keri’s sexiest book yet. Sabelle is such a strong and persevering heroine. You simply can’t help but root for her. I liked her in the previous book, but she was truly a force to be reckoned with in this one. The things that she goes through were at times almost heart breaking to read. And the author manages to write it in such a way that it paints the picture in your mind while it hits you right in the feels.

Gaving was absolute perfection. I have nothing more to say on that. I adored him in this book.

I will side with the devil himself and gladly hand over my soul to keep you safe.

He was this combination of sweet, romantic, caring and yet with this edge of sexy that just made all the more rugged.

The story with the Sang and the rest of the supes hierarchy continues to get more and more interesting and I can’t even imagine how much more crazy it will get. All I know is that I want front row tickets to the show!

The tease in the epilogue about what the next book may bring? FUCKING KILLER! Keri you evil genius, you. You tease us so. There’s also the set up for Zayne’s book which will pretty much leave you begging for his book next.

I am absolutely, positively, irrevocably hooked on this series.

You may have enslaved my soul, Sabelle, but you’ve irrevocably freed my heart. For that, I will always be in your debt.

Review: ☆Tempting Ecstasy☆ by @SETTAJAY_

*Erotic Paranormal Romance*Conn had spent the millennia of his life fighting alongside his brethren as a Guardian of the Four Realms. He’d never allowed himself to imagine that he would be gifted a mate but her scent was inside him now. The intoxicating lure incited his wolf to track her and claim her in a sexual frenzy she could never deny. He refused to repeat the mistakes his brothers had made in their unions, instead he planned to fight the demands of his beast and tempt his female.

Dacia had spent the years of her life as a guardian of her family’s secrets. Her days were consumed with helping her siblings search for the Immortals who had escaped the God Apollo’s brutal training camps with her parents thousands of years ago. They were the only hope of finding answers to questions about their lives. Questions her parents hadn’t resolved before their deaths.

Not in her wildest of dreams would Dacia have imagined the answers would instead find her. Or what form those answers would take. The breathtaking male who stepped out of the night and into her life was certainly not one of the hidden Immortals her parents had told of, he was so much more. Wielding both immense power and thrilling strength he aroused not only her body but the wolf hidden within.

Dacia needed to find a way to trust her seductive Guardian, not only with herself, but with her family as well. But how long could she hold out against both the intensity of the mating frenzy that demanded sexual release, and the wickedly sexy male who was tempting not just her body… but also her heart?

4.5 My Ovaries will never be the same again Stars

The things you do to me. Fuck. I’m going to destroy you princess. I’ll toy with you, tempt you, and give you everything you never new to ask for.

This book is intended for an adult audience. It contains explicit sex; voyeurism; dirty talking males with bad language.

I am NOT kidding here, people. Read this series at your own risk. Even my steel ovaries get overheated while reading this. I swear it’s like Setta Jay sits down after she finishes each book and then thinks to herself, I wonder how I can make my next dirty talking alpha even DIRTIER. Then she finishes the next book and thinks

Because OH MY GAWD but this series just continues to get hotter and hotter.

First meet Conn

The tatted and pierced lycos of The Guardians. I loved that Conn never fought his mating when he learned he had a mate. His courting of her was both sweet and a practice in sexual frustration. He knew that if they touched each other they would go into full mating heat, and he didn’t want Dacia to feel like her lust forced her decision. What takes place is the most sexually frustrating experience of my life. And no I’m not exaggerating here.

See Dacia needs to make up her mind that she’s not coerced into the mating by getting to know Conn. So while the sexual chemistry between the two of them was so damn hot I thought I’d get scorched, they may eye fuck the fuck out of each other

Between their lusty little dancing around each other, Conn’s dirty talking ways, and the undercurrent of the hottest sexual chemistry ever, I thought I’d die if they didn’t bang each others brains out soon

I can’t wait until you’re coming on my lips. I’ll lap up your juices and bury my face in your hot cunt. After drinking my fill I’ll slide my tongue over the nerves of your tiny ass. There isn’t an inch of you that won’t feel my mouth, princess. I promise.

What? Don’t you judge me here. The man was a dirty talking god…pun intended.

As always in the midst of all this mating heat, Setta Jay continues to weave an intricate plot with her unique world building and side characters. I enjoyed that this book didn’t have a secondary story as I felt it would have been too much. As it was we get a sizzling hot romance and the plot of the bad guys thicken. I’m totally and completely sucked into the world of The Guardians of the Realms and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Did I mention that it’s fucking HOT?

I think the thing that I really loved the most, is that Conn and Dacia didn’t have to solidify their union by him sharing her with his brother Guardians. As hot as it was in the other books, it still wasn’t my favorite since it came immediately after the mating ceremony and it kind of fizzled it for me. Though obviously not enough for me to not enjoy it. But I am glad that we didn’t have that here.

If you’re a fan of SUPER erotic PNR I have no idea why you haven’t read this series yet. While most information from the past books gets reiterated in each new book without ever sounding redundant, I’d still recommend reading this series in order. The world building builds off of each book and there is a continuing story line with the bad guys that continues throughout the series. You’d enjoy the books much more reading them in order.

As for me? I’m off to ice my ovaries now…

Don’t miss the first 3 books in the series!
