Protecting Fate (Serve #6)
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Author: Katee Robert
Release Date: March 17, 2015

He’ll keep her safe…but who will protect her from him?

Fixer Sara Reaver is in serious trouble. She’s stepped on the wrong toes, and now her uncle is sending her out of the city in an effort to keep her safe—and he’s assigning her a glorified babysitter. The last person she expects to show up is the gorgeous Z, or for him to tempt her and then reject her in the space of a single night. Twice. Now she’s out to prove to him just how good they’d fit up together in every way imaginable.

Mercenary Z Loreto hates protection jobs, but he’s willing to make an exception for his best friend’s little sister. The only problem is she calls up things he’s been doing his damnedest to keep under wraps for the last seven years. But when she pushes him too far, it all comes rushing to the fore, and the fact she’s willing to submit to his every desire only makes the loss of control sweeter.

Sara and Z have a boatload of issues between them, but they’re sure they can make things work if they take it one day at a time… Right up until things spiral beyond their control. Now Z’s playing for keeps in a big way, and Sara’s got to decide if a chance at true happiness is worth the risk of repeating history.

Review4 stars

If there was one woman on this earth off limits, it was Little Sara Reaver. And she was the one woman he wanted more than his next breath.

Ever since we first met Sara Reaver as the smart mouthed best friend of Ridley and younger sister of Garrett and Will in Mistaken by Fate, I just knew her story will have to be a good one. With two overprotective Dom brothers; 1 in the military, and 1 a successful business owner, Sara is no pushover herself. She’s a fixer and there’s no job that she can’t get done…until she pushes too far and her uncle sends her away with a protection detail no less.

Sara, much like her two brothers, has been scarred by her mother’s abrupt departure from her life. She’s not looking for a happily ever after any time soon, but she’s certainly not willing to give up her orgasms in the meantime either. This is a woman that owns her sexuality without any qualms. I actually really enjoyed that about her. Usually there’s a fine line for me between brazen and brash, but Sara was always on the right line of things for me. She’s smart mouthed and knows what she wants. She also isn’t shy about going after what she wants. And when she goes to Serve to enjoy her last night of “freedom” and comes face to face with her ‘protection detail’, a night with a Dom to pacify her needs just won’t do. The dark and broody Z enthralls her. And the fact that he seems to thwart her advances intrigues her.

Z was definitely one sexy sexy man. A true military man, and he likes control both in the field and in the bedroom. While the gorgeous blonde certainly calls to the Dom in him, the fact that she’s his charge and his friend’s younger sister puts a big hands-off sign on her. But there’s only so long that Z can control his urges for, especially when Sara makes it her mission to seduce him.

This was another super sexy addition to the Serve series and one I definitely enjoyed quite a bit. The pace of Sara and Z’s relationship seemed almost unrealistically quick, but then again, it is what it is. It did have a great epilogue which was the perfect cherry on the cake. I found this to be a little less BDSM-y (yes, I’m making that a word) than the last book, but no less hot. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this one.

This time, all bets are off…

Penelope Carson loves to steal clients from Will Reaver. Yet something in her business nemesis’s icy blue eyes makes Penelope…nervous. It certainly doesn’t help that the man is the living embodiment of a Norse god. A controlled, powerful Norse god. Which she really should have remembered before she made a bet with him—because losing means becoming Will’s personal submissive for a week. There’s nothing Will would like more than to have Penelope kneeling before him in complicit submission, her fiery dark eyes inviting him in. Challenging him. But their bet takes Will and Penelope deeper than either of them have ever been. Where control is an illusion, and boundaries are pushed aside. And where hearts become the stakes in a game that neither Dominant nor submissive can win…

Who do you belong to?” He stood, lifted her hips, and shoved into her. “Tell me, Penelope. Now.
“You.”
“Say my name.”

Ho-ly shit. This. Book. Was. Freaking. HAWT. I’ll admit, being the Brazen junky that I am, I’ve read my fair share…and I do mean my fair share. So trust me when I tell you that this just may have been the most sizzling and kinky one yet.
We first met Will Reaver as Garrett’s tamer and more reasonable and almost unassuming twin brother in Mistaken by Fate. Ha! Tamer and unassuming my ass!

We also met Penelope Carson, the gorgeous and sassy pain in Will’s ass…better known as his competition in business. Both Will and Penelope like to be at the top, and that certainly goes for everything else beside business. Their fierce competition definitely has a very hot undercurrent of chemistry, but they both refuse to admit the glaringly obvious attraction. Besides, with Will being a Dom and Penelope not being submissive, they couldn’t have less in common…or so they think…

When they realize that they’re both going after the same client again, Will proposes that they make things interesting. Whoever loses, has to submit to the other for a week. Penelope is sure that she has it all in the bag and wants nothing more than Will Reaver on his knees. But then her unexpected loss allows her to experience something that she’s only allowed herself to fantasize about; to truly submit to a man that tempts her like no other. Besides, Penelope isn’t just a domme, she’s a switch. And boy do things start to get sizzling

Being an avid reader of BDSM romance, I can tell you that I’ve read my fair share of contemporary authors ‘tip-toeing around this genre. You know what I’m talking about; when you have a hero with some bondage and spanky preferences that also likes to boss the chick around in the bedroom is all of a sudden a Dom. Yeah…no. I was VERY pleasantly surprised with Katee’s portrayal of Will, because will was most definitely a Dom in every sense of the word. He was demanding, slightly domineering, and when the man gets down to business? No ovaries in an 8 mile radius will be safe.

So what did this book have?
A whole lot of sexy time, is what!
It also had one sizzling hot MFM threesome, that was actually very tastefully done. You know, if there’s really such a thing with a threesome.

But aside from all the kinky sexy times, it actually had a really great story on top. Both Pen and Will are terrified of commitment in their own right and it was really entertaining seeing them fall for each other even if Will did fight it more than necessary. Given both their histories, I could understand their hesitations.

Penelope was a great heroine. She was smart mouthed, independent, take charge type of woman. But when it came to Will, she had no problem giving into her more submissive nature.

I loved that none of the scenes felt forced like they have in other contemporary books for me. If you’re not a fan of the genre, it’s just light enough to still appeal to you. Don’t get me wrong, their sex is ANYTHING but vanilla, but it wasn’t exactly hard core BDSM. But for those of us that run on the more…uhem…kinkier tastes, it’s just enough to satisfy.

I also really loved the inclusion of Penelope’s best friend Addison from Meeting His Match.

If you’re looking for a scorching hot and kinky read, look no further than Will Reaver. Although part of a series, you may still easily read this as a standalone. Though I found the series to be fantastic, so I’d definitely recommend reading the previous 3 books too. Can’t wait for next installment and to see who will be the man to rein in Sara, Garret and Will’s younger sister.

…Stop trying to impress me.
“I don’t have to impress you. I’m going to be inside you before the night’s out.”

Holy hell but does Katee Robert know how to write one hot as all hell Dom. And I’m talking Dom, ladies. None of that water-downed I’m-dominant-because-I-like -to-tie-you-up-and-have-controlling-tendencies “Doms”. I’m talking a deliciously dirty talking, totally takes control, uber sexy Dom. And if BDSM is not quite your cuppa, not to worry. Katee gives you just enough kink here to simply dip your feet in the pool. And if you’re a fan of BDSM but tired of the water downed Doms you’ve been reading lately, you’ll be happy to know that this book will give you just enough kink to whet your appetite.

While this is book 3 in the series, this is Katee Roberts first addition to it. If you haven’t read the previous two books (written by Tessa Bailey), you can still read this as a standalone as the one thing they have in common is the BDSM club, Serve. Though I still highly recommend reading the first 2 because they’re deliciously dirty (and fantastic) books.
Mistaken by Fate has a little of everything; mistaken identity, lovers reunited, and a whole lot of sexy kinky and panty melting love scenes.

Do you know how crazy you make me? I’m so fucking desperate for a taste of you, I’d do damn near anything for it.
Anything, Ridley. I’m on my goddamn knees for you.

Eight years ago, Ridley Ethridge fell for her best friend’s brother…only to have him break her heart right before he shipped out to join the military. The few times that they’ve had an awkward run in through the years that followed were enough to convince Ridley that she had her heart set on the wrong man. Why pine after bad boy Garrett when his twin brother Will is a much more stable option…right?

So with seduction in her sights, she decides to set the scene with the perfect scenario; her. Naked. And waiting for Will at a room at Serve…too bad Garrett is the one that shows up.

I love a good jilted lovers reunited story, and this definitely hit the spot for me. Garrett was the perfect combination of dominant and vulnerable. Ridley, although standoffish at first, really grew on me practically right away too. And the two of them together? Absolutely sizzling.

There was a little bit of angst and a whole lot of sexy which made for the perfect afternoon read.

If you haven’t started this series, you don’t know what you’re missing. I can’t wait to see what’s up next. Though I’d happily settle for any of the Reaver siblings. I got to admit that Will definitely has me the most intrigued especially with a certain female business competitor that was introduced here. That already sounds right up my alley.

A satisfying category romance from Entangled’s brand new Lovestruck imprint…

When New York matchmaker Addison St. Claire is tasked with matching her best friend’s new brother-in-law, she almost refuses. But the sexy southern CEO turns out to be a challenge she can’t resist, because if anyone needs to meet his soul mate, it’s this man. And if matching him with someone else removes the temptation of being near him? Even better.

The last thing Caine McNeill needs is a matchmaker—especially a gorgeous redhead who spouts nonsense about soul mates, critiques what he drives and how he dresses, buys him a dog, and pesters him about a million little things he couldn’t care less about. It’s a crying shame he has to keep his hands off because chemistry like what’s flaring between them ought to be explored. Thoroughly.

And so the battle begins. Addison is determined to stick to her plan of setting him up on dates with other women, and Caine is equally determined to ignore these women and seduce her.

She’d gone and thrown away every single one of her rules for him

Remember Brock from Seducing the Bridesmaid? Well this time it’s Brock’s sexy older brother’s turn at a HEA. And who better to match him with than a matchmaker that also happens to be Regan’s friend?

Addison St. Claire is a successful New York matchmaker. What she may lack in her own love life, she makes up for with her clients. So when Addison’s friend Regan asks for a favor in matching her workaholic brother-in-law, Caine, she only struggles with it for a few minutes before saying yes. The problem? Convincing the man that he actually needs her help. But she’s determined, even if it means moving into his Tenessee mansion and dogging his every step.

Unfortunately it’s a little difficult to match a client when all he’s focused on is seducing you into his bed. And Caine? Well let’s just say he’s very convincing, in and out of the boardroom. It doesn’t take too long for the chemistry between them to be too much to deny.

I wasn’t quite sure why, but I struggled to form a connection with the 2 characters from the very beginning. Technically this is usually the recipe that never fails to entice me. However it never quite happened here. While i did enjoy parts of this book, other parts had me raging and wanting to pull my hair out. Why? One word, Addison

She drove me out of my mind batty with her “one soul-mate per lifetime” business. Caine made his intentions clear from the get go, but the way Addison behaved reminded me more of a confused and hormonal teenager than a woman in her late 20s. Her constant back and forth made me want to reach through my kindle and just shake some sense into her.

Could I understand the why’s of it? Sure. Was it enough to make me look past her at times just plain hurtful treatment of Caine? Not even close.

I felt like SHE should have been the one to fight for Caine and not the other way around. So sadly, this managed to really diminish my enjoyment of the story.

I did love catching up with Brock and Regan and the epilogue was super cute as well. But unfortunately when I dislike a heroine or just can’t connect with her, it will never really bring a book any higher than 3 stars for me. Such was the case here.

But please don’t let this deter you from reading the book. It was a great installment in what looks to be a very promising series. While I didn’t love it, I can’t say I hated it. It was a like for me. But I will gladly read the next book in the series. I do enjoy Katee Robert’s writing, but sadly you can’t please everyone, and I do tend to be picky when I don’t like a heroine.

ARC Review: ☆Seducing the Bridesmaid☆ by @katee_robert

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

Regan Wakefield is a headhunter in both name and personality: driven, motivated, and unafraid to pursue what—and who—she wants. Naturally, she’s thrilled when her friend’s wedding offers her an opportunity to score Logan McCade, the practically perfect best man. Unfortunately, groomsman Brock McNeil keeps getting in her way, riling her up in the most delicious of ways. But Brock’s smooth southern charm isn’t part of the plan…so how exactly did they end up having searing-hot sex?

Regan may pretend the erotic electricity sparking between them is merely a distraction, but Brock knows better. She refuses to see beyond the devil-may-care façade he presents to the world, while he sees straight through hers. Changing her mind—and getting under her skin—is a challenge he can’t resist. And when he wins, Brock will do whatever it takes to convince Regan that the best man for her is him.

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

This book had to have had some of the best banter I’ve read in a while. That whole ‘I should hate you but still lust you’ thing Brock and Regan had going on? Let’s just say I likey verra much.

Regan Wakefield is a take-no-shit New York headhunter. She’s confident, she’s outspoken, and she has no issues knowing what she wants and going after it…or at least she THINKS she knows what she wants. She has a plan after all, and that plan is to snag the very eligible Logan McCade at her friend’s wedding. On paper he’s everything she wants; driven, motivated, and successful. So why is that when she sees the extreme opposite of what she wants Brock McNeil…

How did that happen? Well, it’s certainly not easy to resists Brock’s southern charm, and when he lay it on her, he really LAYS it on her. Pun most definitely intended.

But Brock isn’t exactly the entitled rich boy that Regan thinks that he is. Too bad it takes her a bit to figure it out.

I absolutely LOVED the banter between these two. Regan definitely didn’t mince words and she had no problems cutting Brock down to size.

It’s okay if you’re intimidated by my overwhelig masculinity. I promise to take good care of you.”
“How sweet of you. But let’s be honest. I’d ruin you for other women, and I’m just too nice to do that to an adorable thing like you.”

Brock certainly didn’t disappoint with giving as good as he got. And as hard as Regan was on him at times, she really deserved that and more

Why, Scarlett, are you calling me difficult? I seem to remember you making irrational claims about my not being as mean as I acted.”
“God, no. I’m just pointing out that you have a mammoth stick up your ass.” He reached for his drink, effectively removing her hand from his arm. “Since I’m petitioning for saintly status, I’m willing to help you remove it.”

As much as I enjoyed their banter, there were definitely times I wanted to throttle Regan for being as tough on Brock as she was. There’s a fine line between confident and brash, and Regan was tip toening right on it most of the time.

She did have her endearing moments. I liked how terrified she was of the outdoors. Logical fear?

Except she was scared of squirrels. Her quirky fear never failed to put a smile on my face.

And of course with sparks like that between them, their sexual chemistry between them was combustible and certainly didn’t disappoint. This book was STEAMY.

I loved Brock. I just wish it hadn’t taken Regan as long as it did to finally get her head out of her ass.

I absolutely love how the authors tied in each book in this series, it really just made each book that much more enjoyable for me. I highly recommend reading all of them in order.

Review: ☆His To Keep☆ by Katee Robert

He’s always wanted her. Now’s his chance to claim what’s his.

School teacher Marceline Bellini gave up everything—men, sex, anything resembling a social life—to raise her young daughter. To be the perfect parent. But when she attends an engagement party in her standard stick-in-the-mud mode, her friends begin plying Marcy with shots. Just enough to convince her that a little fun doesn’t sound like a bad idea… and having some naughty fun is an even better one.

Like finding herself deliciously pressed against a dark alley wall by the very familiar and very hot body of her best friend’s older brother.

After years of waiting in painful silence, police officer Aaron Robinson finally has Marcy’s attention. And man, does he have it. But nothing could have prepared either of them for the rush of fiery lust between them. So he’ll just have to convince Marcy he’s for real. And that a rainy, lust-fuelled romp is the first step to a lifetime of completely imperfect happiness…

He’s always wanted her. Now’s his chance to what’s his.

If you’re looking for a quick and steamy little read look no further than this novella.

This was a shortie but boy did it pack a steamy punch. It was a tad fluffy, a lot steamy, and great little appetizer to tide you over until the next Out of Uniform book (hopefully Drew’s)

After one too many shot’s at her friend Bri’s engagement party (you’ll remember Bri from In Bed with Mr. Wrong), Marcy decides to leave her pent up little existence for a night of decadence with the one man she never expected to giver her a second glance. She’s had a huge crush on the older Robinson brother since her teens, but when he rejected her back in high school, the last thing she expects is for him to proposition her years later.

Little does Marcy know that Aaron has always wanted her. She may be his little sister’s best friend, and she may have been too young for her back in the day, but she’s all woman now.

So in a haze of alcohol induced passion, they give into the inevitable…but now Aaron wants more.

Aaron wasn’t going to let this fade into memory and move on with his life. No, he had every intention of pushing his way into her life, though God alone knew what role he expected to play.

The last thing Marcy wants or needs is a man in her life right now. All she wants to consentrate on is her daughter. But Aaran has no trouble with trying to convince Marcy he’s the one for her, any means necessary…

There’s a whole lot of wall sex here. Outside the bar wall sex, inside a broom closet wall sex. There’s sex galore. I guess what I’m trying to say here, is this book had some verra hot sex.

And you’ll be getting no complaints from this girl.

Marcy did have her moments of stubborn bitchiness where I wanted to smack her for not seeing sense and being as callous as she was to Aaron at times. But Aaron managed to take my mind off of that most times.

Although nothing I see myself going back and re-reading, I did enjoy this one. It was quick, steamy, easy little read. The perfect filler for those in-between book times.

ARC Review: In Bed With Mr. Wrong by Katee Robert

The blind date from hell is about to get hotter…

Brianne Nave is never doing her friends a favor again. When they begged her to go on a blind date, she didn’t expect someone so perfectly gorgeous. She’s a mousy librarian—totally not in this man’s league. And judging by his odd reaction when she opens the door, he knows it, too.

Air Force Pararescuer Ryan Flannery avoids his hometown at all costs. He’s not thrilled about the date until he’s shocked silent by the prickly little librarian’s sweet curves and kissable lips…and her smart mouth. But then an argument leads to a kiss that spirals out of control. How can two people have so little chemistry outside the bedroom when they fit together so perfectly in it?

When their friends strand them in a cabin to “work things out,” Bri’s not sure whether to kill him or put the industrial-sized box of condoms they find to use. Bottom line—Ryan’s career military and hates the tiny town she loves. He’ll leave, just like everyone else in her life. And if she’s foolish enough to give him her heart, he’ll take it with him.

They didn’t like each other. Couldn’t carry on a conversation without snipping at each other, and couldn’t snipe at each other without ending up in compromising positions.
This book is exactly why I’m an obsessive Brazen junky. It was the perfect recipe to a deliciously spicy little read for me. I loved it!
Now let me start with saying that I happen to have a type…for my books that is. There is nothing more that I love more than an enemies to lover trope. Something about the snarky comments, insults, and barbs flying back and forth with an thick undercurrent of lust that never ceases to just do it for me. And if that happens to be your type too, then look no further than this book.
Ryan and Bri set the pages on fire, and I loved every fiery and passionate moment of it.
When Brianne Nave agrees on a blind date as a favor to her friend, she’s not expecting much. She doesn’t exactly date much. She’s a little mousy, a little shy, and knows she’s not prime male fantasy material. But when Ryan Flannery shows up on her doorstop, she’s speechless. Until he makes it evident that she’s clearly not what he expected. And this is when the insults start flying.
Bri and Ryan couldn’t have less in common. Bri is a librarian that dreamed of living in the small town where everyone knows you and your business. Ryan is an Air Force Pararescuer, that wanted nothing more but to escape the town and leave it in the past along with his infamous reputation of being the son of the town drunk and the boy that burned the high school down.
To say that these two start off on the wrong foot would be a gross understatement. The snarky comments and insults start flying right off the bat. And let me just tell you. It is
Bri might be a mousy librarian, but she is certainly no push over. If anything I felt her to be a little harsh on Ryan at times. She never really thought twice about throwing his past in his face, even though she knew barely anything about it.
Now Ryan on the other hand was absolutely swoon worthy. I have a soft spot for military men in my books, and he was no exception. While Bri may have been running scared from their sexual chemistry, Ryan faced it head on.

One thing was certain—she thought this was over and done with between them. Well, he damn well didn’t. He wanted to know which was the real Bri—the snarling harpy from their date or the sweet, sexy thing from the porch—and the only way to do that was to see her again. They were going to talk this out, even if he had to lock her in a room to do it.

I loved the banter between these two.

You’re staring at me like you’re thinking—” She blushed and frowned harder. “Knock it off.”
“You’re projecting. I wonder why?” Could it be that you recently had your mind blown?”
“Shut up. We’re in public.”
“That didn’t bother you the last time we were together.”
“Oh my God, will you stop talking?”
“It’s not my fault someone has their panties in a twist.”
She leaned in, kissably close. “Don’t think for a second that you had more than a passing effect on my panties.”

And then when the banter would stop, the clothes would start flying. And let me just tell you, the chemistry between them? SCORCHING

A quick paced, sexy story about two very different people who find out they may have more in common than they thought. A first in a series that is already looking to be an auto-buy for me. I cannot wait to get my greedy little hands on the towns bachelor/sheriff and Ryan’s brother Drew. Would it be possible that Avery might be the girl for him? Not sure. But a girl can hope 🙂

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first novel by Katee Robert, and it certainly will not be my last. It wasn’t quite the amazing 5 star book for me (I tend to be stingy with my 5 stars). But it is a book I wouldn’t think twice about re-reading, and I definitely liked it a whole heck of a lot.

If you’re a fan of witty banter, swoon worthy military heroes, sassy and sharp tongued heroines, and a steamy story that will be sure to get your own panties in a twist then this book is definitely for you. Gotta love that Brazen yumminess!
