Changing the past is an impossibility ex-Marine, Cynthia “Cyn” Arden, understands all too well. Once she believed he’d stand by her side, until he chose his job and his secrets over her. A choice that’s left the scars of the past etched deep on her mind and heart.

“Tag,” his name came out as a warning of my waning patience. My fingers tightened around the phone, and it took an amazing amount of will power to not share my own colorful vocabulary. “You need to tell me what’s going on. Right. Now.” The last two words emerged around gritted teeth.

“It’s about Flash. His killer is out.” His unexpected answer stabbed deep, drawing blood under my skin. Brutal memories boiled up and I almost missed his, “Stay with Kayden, Cyn.”

The drone of a dial tone filled my ear. My world spun. I concentrated on setting the phone back in the cradle. My legs were doing a great impression of spaghetti noodles, so I let them fold under me and sat on the cool tile. Six months, I’d run as hard, as fast and as far as I could, but in a matter of minutes I was right back where I started, trapped in a never-ending nightmare.

You have to wonder which fickle fate decided to dump everything on me at once. If I ever got my hands on her, I’d beat her to a pulp. Damn, damn, and triple damn!

The past surged, breaking through to rise in a swamping wave of ghostly screams and the stench of burnt flesh. I dug my fingers deep into my thigh muscles in a desperate attempt to stave it off. No such luck. Greedy memories sucked me down.

My kitchen disappeared, replaced by a fetid alley behind a dive in Where-the-fuckistan. Sprawled on the ground, my head spinning with dizzying sickness and my leg screaming with agony, all I could do was watch and listen. Watch the spreading pool of blood and brains seep from Ortega, his sightless eyes staring past me. Listen to the snap and crackle of a raging fire hissed through the night while the smell of burning flesh wrapped around me. Behind me, someone screamed, his wail high-pitched and full of hopeless agony.

I knew that broken voice.

Even as excruciating pain beat inside my skull, I turned my head, recognizing the figure in the midst of the hellish scene. Searing loss, rage, and fear rose to a scream. My mouth opened and the stench coiled down my throat, blocking the air in my chest. No, no, no!

The shocking feel of hands against my face snapped my paralysis, bringing a touch of the present into the past. Desperate to escape, ignoring the pain radiating down my leg and through my head. I struck out, my hand connecting with flesh. “Don’t touch me!”

Harsh breathing filled the air around me. It took a few seconds to realize it was coming from me. A few more before the low soothing voice penetrated the layers of the past. “Come on back, Cyn. You’re safe.”

Book Spotlight, Excerpt & #Giveaway: ☆Taking Control☆ by @JenSFred

Title: Taking Control
Author: Jen Frederick
Release Date: September 8, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance
The hotly anticipated sequel to Losing Control.

I thought I needed only one thing in my life–the money and power to crush one man. But the moment I laid eyes on Victoria Corielli, my thirst for revenge was replaced by my craving for her.
No rule would keep me away; no obstacle too large to overcome. Not her will, not our differing social positions, not my infamous past. When she lost everything, I helped her pick up the pieces. When she trusted me with everything, she sealed her fate.
I’ve convinced Victoria she can put her heart in my hands. Now I have to protect it–from her shady stepfather and my business rivals, from enemies known and hidden. I’ll do anything to keep her. And I might have to prove it, because now Victoria’s risking more than her heart to be with me; she’s risking her life.

I want us to get married. Soon. Do you want a big wedding?”

“Married? I mean, I guess I thought you were serious but I figured…I don’t know.” Her voice trails off.

“That my proposal of marriage was somehow insincere? I’ve never wanted anything more. I just didn’t want to pressure you because of all the emotional upheaval you’re experiencing now.” Rolling over so she can see me and judge the sincerity for herself, I declare, “I want you to be my wife. The mother of any children we have. My partner in life. I want that to happen now so that I can introduce you as Mrs. Ian Kerr.”

Her eyes close for a moment and beneath the lids, silent tears leak out. Her words, though, are classic. “Maybe you should take my name. You can be Ian Corielli and I’ll introduce you as Mr. Victoria Corielli.”

“As long as it means you’re mine in the eyes of the world, I’ll be Mr. John Smith.”

She wraps her arms around my neck and clings to me. This time the shudders I’m soothing are from maybe, possibly, hopefully joy for our future. “I’m okay with Victoria Kerr,” she chokes out. “You better give me a big rock and lots of flowers since you’re proposing to me while we’re naked.”

“I proposed to you when I first took you to the house on the Long Island Sound.”

“You didn’t propose. You said that you wanted me to be your wife and fill your big house with lots of little people.”

“That’s a proposal.”

“It was a demand.”

“It was a request couched as a demand.”

Her body is shaking with laughter. “You’ve been in charge for too long. That was no request.”

Pushing to my knees, I reach into the nightstand and retrieve the box I bought before Sophie died. Her eyes grow huge and her hands come up to the cover her mouth. I flip the box lid open, pluck the ring out and toss it aside.

Lifting her shaking hand in mine, I slide the ring down her finger.

“When I was fifteen I made a hundred different stupid vows. I’d avenge my mother. I’d rise to the top of Wall Street and smite everyone down. I’d crush Richard Howe beneath the sole of my boot. I’d win at everything. But I never wished for happiness because I didn’t know what it was until you came into my life. How could I want something I didn’t know was missing? Now, everything I’ve achieved pales in comparison to having you love me. When I say that you’re my heart, my everything, those aren’t just words. They are the only truth in my world. I’d give up money, revenge, success, as long as I could lie down next to you at night and wake up with your face beside mine.

There is no greater achievement in my life than having you fall in love with me and I recognize on some mysterious level that is pure luck. I need you to marry me and be my wife. I need you to be the mother of my children. I need you because without you I am nothing. I am a pile of bones and flesh filled with misery. You bring me to life. Love me, marry me, be with me in this life and into all the ones we live from this point ever after.”

“Well, since you put it like that, I guess I must.” She rises and kisses me. Our mouths sealing the promises we’ve made to another one another.

I make love to her again then, slowly. We barely move. I just slide in and we rock together and allow the strength of our emotions to carry us into the heaven.

However, at the time—ten years ago—she felt her secret needed to stay hidden, even if it broke her heart and the heart of the man she loved. Back then, he was all hers and she was all his, but now things have changed and he isn’t the same guy she knew.

Their second chance to make things right will not come easy, for when one mistake is made an unwelcome consequence soon follows. Someone out there wants to rip them apart and they won’t stop until Matt and Shelby pay the ultimate price … their love.

Amazon / B&N / iTunes

Breathing hard, Shelby opened her eyes and gasped, “What is it? Why did you stop?”

The answer to that question came loud and clear when my sister looked up and finally spotted us. “You have got to be kidding me,” she shrieked. “There is no way in hell I’m getting in that pool now.” Turning on her heel, she hurried back inside, mumbling how disgusting it was to catch her brother having sex.

Shelby sunk down as far into the water as she could go and put her hands over her face. “Oh my God, this is embarrassing.”

“Not as embarrassing as it is for her, trust me. You should’ve seen how red her face got,” I added jokingly.

Shelby moved her hands and sighed, her face as red as could be. “Maybe we should finish this later?” she suggested.

Still hard inside of her, I wanted to finish it then, but couldn’t have her feeling uncomfortable. Sliding out of her, I swam over to our bottoms, which were floating in the water across the pool, and handed hers to her while also slipping mine on. Her bikini top was on the lounge chair, so I reached over the edge of the pool for it and turned her around so I could tie it in the back.

With her back to me, I pushed my cock against her ass and whispered in her ear, “We finish this tonight, angel. As soon as the fight’s over we’re coming right back here and I’m going to fuck you as long and hard as I can. I hope you’re ready for that.”

Chuckling, she smiled at me over her shoulder. “You promise?”

“You better believe it.”

Matthew’s point of view

“Good morning,” she hummed, kissing and nipping my bare chest. “Time to rise and shine.” Her voice was thick and hoarse, and way too seductive.

I had to laugh at her words. My dick was already up. “Becca, if you start this, I’m going to finish it.” My words barely left my lips. I wasn’t even sure what I had said. My head was spinning from my dick being inside her mouth. Fuck! She was making me feel so good. I kept my mouth shut and enjoyed this moment as I watched her.

After yanking off my boxers, her wet tongue slowly glided over my shaft and down, making me quiver in pleasure. Every nerve in my body shot alive. After another lick and suck, she went in deeper and rocked faster. Holy fuck! Dropping my head to my pillow—because that was all I could do—I let her take me…stroke me…lick me…suck me…putting me over the edge. My Becca could do the most amazing things with her mouth.

Feeling the urge to climax, I wrung a fist full of her disarrayed hair and pulled her up to kiss those sultry lips of hers. I wanted to swallow her into me, to take every part of her, because as always, I couldn’t get enough of her. Wanting to eat her up with my tongue, teeth, and lips, I kissed her roughly and intensely.

Becky broke away while her teeth pulled back my bottom lip, leaving me panting like a dog salivating over a piece of steak out of its reach. “What do you want, Matt?” she asked playfully, looking at me with a seductive smile that said “come get me.”

Title: Rival (Fall Away, #2)
Author: Penelope Douglas
Genre: NA | Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 26, 2014
From the New Adult sensation and New York Times bestselling author of Until You

Madoc and Fallon. Two estranged teenagers playing games that push the boundaries between love and war…

She’s back.

For the three years she’s been away at boarding school, there was no word from her. Back when we lived in the same house, she used to cut me down during the day and then leave her door open for me at night.

I was stupid then, but now I’m ready to beat her at her own game…

I’m back.

Three years and I can tell he still wants me, even if he acts like he’s better than me.

But I won’t be scared away. Or pushed down. I’ll call his bluff and fight back. That’s what he wants, right? As long as I keep my guard up, he’ll never know how much he affects me….

Madoc jumped out of the car, not even caring to close the door behind him. “You stole my car?!” he shouted, peering down into the bowl.
With the headlights behind him, the area was well lit, and I tried to breath against the flutter in my chest.
He was here. We were alone. We were angry. Déjà vu.
This is what I wanted. It’s what I’d planned.
But I turned my back on him anyway.
I’d told myself time and again that I didn’t care what he thought of me. I didn’t want his heart after all. It wasn’t part of the equation. He didn’t need to love me or respect me for this to work. I would use him—get what I wanted—without worrying about whatever was in his head. It. Did. Not. Matter.
So why couldn’t I just draw him in like I’d planned? Why did I want to spit back?
“I didn’t steal it. I borrowed it, Princess,” I shot back.
He jumped down into the bowl, his flip flops slapping against the wet cement. “Don’t touch my shit, Fallon!”
“Oh, but you got to come into my room last night and touch me? You don’t get to have everything, Madoc.”
He stopped a few feet from me, and I felt the walls of the bowl close in as he stared. I expected more yelling and insults, but he just stood there, looking like everything that could destroy me without even speaking. Looking like everything that nearly did destroy me.
He was still dressed in only his board shorts and flip flops. No shirt. I guess he would’ve left the house in a hurry if he was coming after me. He’d changed so much in the years I’d been gone. His shoulders and arms were works of art. Madoc always liked to work out, and it paid off. He had a build like a quarterback, and he was tall. I wished I didn’t feel the invisible cord pulling me to him, wanting to touch him again, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. We always want what’s bad for us.
Madoc was hot. He knew it. And he knew everyone else knew it.
But what was underneath the blonde hair, boyish blue eyes, and toned body was bad. He was bad.
And someday, his looks would fade, and his wife would just have someone bad. I had to remind myself of that. There was nothing in him that I should want.
The light rain blew around his face, and he blinked away the water dripping down his face. “You know? Whatever,” he sneered, looking like he was about to turn away. “I’m so over your bullshit, Fallon. I wish I knew what the hell you wanted from me.” His voice got stronger. “You act like everything’s fine around Addie and then you show up to my party dressed to impress down to your underwear around all of my friends, and then you bring up my party two years ago.” He got in my face. “What do you want from me?” His bellow reared up from deep inside of him.
“Nothing!” I shouted, my eyes burning with anger. “I want nothing from you. Nothing ever again!”
He reared back just a little as if I’d surprised him.
“Again? Is that what this is about?” he asked. “Us fucking three years ago?”
Fucking. I averted my eyes.
I’d rather shove a drumstick up my nose than let him see how that hurt. I wiped the water off my forehead and smoothed my hair over the top of my head.
“You know what?” He narrowed his eyes, speaking up before I got a chance. “You can go to hell, Fallon. I was sixteen, too. I was a virgin, same as you. You were all over me, too, and you know it. I didn’t force you! You didn’t have to go and complain to our parents. Jesus Christ!”
Huh?
He breathed hard and kept folding his lips between his teeth. “They treated me like I was pressuring you or some shit!” he shouted, throwing his hand out into the air. “You told them that I was forcing you?”

˃˃˃ “Becky does it again, delivering a searingly hot, emotionally intense and brilliantly written book. I loved it.” – Sarah Alderson (author of Hunting Lila, Fated, The Sound)

So, what’s Tarzan like in the bedroom?’

‘Shan!’

‘Oh come on, I’m bored!’

‘I’d tell you if we had one,’ I say and he whacks my arm and tugs at my hair. ‘Ow! It was just a stupid fling, it’s over, you know that.’

‘So you say, slutty-pants,’

‘I’m serious,’ I laugh.

Shan tuts and goes back to his braiding. I do feel guilty because I don’t want to keep anything from Shan. I’ve almost told him about the immunity charm too, numerous times, but I haven’t. So far no one’s wanted to vote me out, as far as I know. There’s been no more talk of voting Joshua out either, mainly because since the rains came, no one else has had the balls to try and spear for fish or climb for coconuts. But I know things can change in a heartbeat.

Since that night in the cave, Joshua and I have made a conscious effort not to let the others see that we’re involved. I feel like I’m playing a game within a game. I’m pretty sure they all know something’s up, but in daylight hours in a world of cameras, we’re not giving anyone any added reasons to turn against us, or turn us into some trashy commercial break teaser for Deserted. We never touch or conspire; we spend hours apart. We never go anywhere alone. Instead we wait for the night, when everyone else is sleeping. The nights are ours.

‘You say it’s over, but you never talk about Sebastian Moreno,’ Shan says now.

‘Nothing here has anything to do with Sebastian,’ I reply. ‘And anyway, that life isn’t real while we’re here.’

‘Pfft, you tell yourself that, D.G. Just ‘cause you close your eyes doesn’t mean nobody can see you. You’re on the cover of The National Enquirer with your boobies all censored, you know it.’

I cringe. ‘No I’m not!’

‘You’ll make a fortune on celebrity endorsements,’ he carries on, ignoring me. ‘Bikini modeling, book deals, couch store openings… oooh, oooh!’ he pulls on my hair excitedly, ‘you should come on the cruise with me! They’d love you – especially Marty. He’d like… adopt you. He has half a tattoo on his face; the other half got infected, long story, but he’s super nice…’

Shan rambles on about his ‘besticle’ Marty, but my thoughts drift over the past two weeks, waking up at the crack of dawn to run down to the waterfall. When it’s not raining, there’s a space behind the falls on ground level; a turquoise pool with a loud, moving wall of water that drowns out our conversation, and all of what we call ‘our tribal sounds.’ I feel my face flush, just thinking about it. No cameras can reach us there.

‘I love it when you scream for me, Jane,’ Joshua said one morning, gripping my hips from behind as I flattened my hands to the wall, bringing him into me in the water. Just the words coming from his mouth made me tremble in his hands and scream even louder, pressing my face to the rocks, feeling his power consume me. It’s addictive, that feeling. It’s like nothing else!

There’s something about Joshua that’s part of this island, like he belongs here, somehow. When we have sex in the water, on top of leaves, on the sand, sometimes I don’t even feel like myself. It’s weird but I feel like I’m part of him and the universe and nature… like we’ve both turned into animals. I can’t even imagine us on a bed, with pillows and a comforter. I can barely imagine us wearing proper clothes. It’s so weird but I’ve never felt so close to anyone so quickly. But then, I’ve also never met anyone like him.

In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate.

Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse—her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. And the one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who’s bound by an ancient legacy to betray her.

Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn’t mean he can change his fate…no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn’t: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side and Adrian on the other. And nothing but ashes in between…

“What is that?”

Adrian’s voice startled me. For a second, I was disoriented, the dream clinging to me as it always did. Yes, I was in a car, but I wasn’t the unknown woman driving away from her baby. That wasn’t real. The glare Adrian leveled at my chest was, though.

“Is that a mirror?” He sounded horrified.

I looked down. My locket was open, the mirrored side facing me. At some point while I was sleeping, I must’ve opened it. Adrian’s hand shot out, but this time, I was too fast for him.

“Don’t you dare,” I snapped, holding it out of his reach. “It’s the only picture I have of my sister after you left everything I own back at that hotel in Bennington!”

He lunged again, actually letting go of the steering wheel to reach the side of the car where I held it. With a sharp yank, he wrested the locket from my hands. I tried to snatch it back, but he shoved me into my seat with one hand, finally grabbing the steering wheel with the other.

“Are you crazy?” I shrieked. “You could’ve gotten us killed!” If this hadn’t been a lonely stretch of desert road, our careening into the next lane might’ve had permanent consequences.

“You’re going to get yourself killed,” was his chilling response. Then, still pinning me to my chair with that single hand, he held my locket up.

I gasped. Something dark poked out of the small mirror, like a snake made of blackest smoke. It disappeared when Adrian smashed the mirror against the steering wheel, but an eerie wind whistled through the car, ruffling my hair and stinging my nostrils with its acrid scent.

Adrian muttered a word in that unknown language, and I didn’t need a translator to tell me it was a curse.

“What was that?” My voice was hoarse.

He threw me a pitying glance, which frightened me even more. If he wasn’t angry, we must really be screwed.

His next words proved that. “Brace yourself, Ivy. You’re about to meet a demon.”

I Want It That Way

Nadia Conrad has big dreams, and she’s determined to make them come true. But between maintaining her college scholarship and working at the local day care to support herself, dating’s the last thing on her mind. Then she moves into a new apartment and meets the taciturn yet irresistible guy in 1B….

Daniel Tyler has grown up too fast. Becoming a single dad at twenty turned his life upside down—and brought him heartache he can’t risk again. Now, as he raises his four-year-old son while balancing a full-time construction management job and night classes, the last thing he wants is noisy students living in the apartment upstairs. But one night, Nadia’s and Ty’s paths cross, and soon they can’t stay away from each other.

The timing is all wrong—but love happens when it happens. And you can’t know what you truly need until you stand to lose it.

“A tender, sweet, and sexy story about how life—and falling in love—can never be planned.”

—Jennifer L. Armentrout, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Wait for You

“Where are you from?”

Ah, an actual question. That means I can ask one back.

“Nebraska, toward the South Dakota and Wyoming side, if that helps.”

“I’ve never met anyone from there.”

Michigan was a long way from home. “I usually get ‘not in Nebraska anymore’ jokes, and then I have to decide if I’m going to remind them that’s Kansas or play along.”

“What do you usually do?”

“Play along.”

“You don’t like conflict, huh?” He sounded normal tonight, as if talking to me wasn’t an unpleasant chore anymore.

That was a relief since I’d come to look forward to these moments with him so much. More, maybe, than I’d like to admit.Right. Friends. I distracted myself by considering his question. “Not if it can be avoided. I’m not what you’d call pugnacious, no. But I like to think I don’t back off important issues. What about you?”

“No.” His voice was bleak and quiet. “I don’t. Even when I should.”

Wow, that took a dark turn.

If I could’ve jumped onto his patio without breaking an ankle or waking Sam, I’d have been down there like a shot. The distance between us seemed intolerable, and from the knot in my throat, I didn’t see how I could live another second without touching him, finding out if his hair was as soft as it looked or what he smelled like. I wanted him in a way I never had before.

In high school, I had a boyfriend who played basketball, and we broke up when I left the state. It was a rational decision, and I didn’t miss him that much once I was gone. My freshman year, I went out with a lot of different guys, one date here, two dates there, but I never clicked with anyone enough to focus on them. Sometimes there were hookups with no strings, no expectations. Classes, friends and work seemed a lot more important. The intensity of this attraction was foreign and frightening, if exhilarating. I might already be backing off if I had the faintest sense that Ty was jerking me around on purpose.

Wish he didn’t make me feel this way. It’d be so much simpler if I could friend-zone him.

I realized I still hadn’t touched his verbal grenade. “We all have things we’d do differently in hindsight.”

“What is it about you?” he asked in a wondering tone.

“Huh?”

“You make me…better. Calmer.”

“Like a sedative?” I snickered. It was the least sexy thing a guy had ever said to me, including a junior high squeeze who said my face wasn’t actually that bad.

He laughed, too, a sheepish sound. “I didn’t mean it like that. Just…I’m worried pretty much all the time that I’m dropping the ball somewhere, about to face-plant, but when I come out here and hear your voice, everything backs off like ten steps. I can breathe again.”

With each determined step, I made my way over to the man that was beginning to steal my heart … again. Fear and desire coincided within me, but I couldn’t stop. I knew I shouldn’t let him in, but I couldn’t deny the way my heart was beating for this man. It was as if all of my desires, all of the pent up emotions and feelings in my body had me desperate for this man’s touch, Galen’s touch. The man I fell in love with years ago. His eyes grew wider the closer I got, but I knew I wasn’t going to back down. I needed to feel him in every way possible, and I needed it then. In one swift move I crushed my lips to his and wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him tight. His arms engulfed me, protecting me in his embrace, but also unsure of what to do.

“What are you doing?” he groaned, breaking away from the kiss. “I thought you wanted to take things slow.”

A fire so hot burned behind those pale blue eyes of his, and I knew taking things slow wasn’t going to happen. “I don’t think I can,” I breathed against his lips.

“Please don’t say that. I don’t think I can control myself if you let me in. I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you, and it’s already hard enough to keep my distance.”

“I don’t want you to keep your distance.” I sighed. “I need you, Galen, and I need you now.” Those words were all it took for the fire to consume him, to consume us both.

Blog Tour, Excerpt & #Giveaway: ☆Burning Through Gravity☆ by @AddisonMoore

BURNING THROUGH GRAVITY—they soared so high so fast they never expected the fall.

Two beautiful souls.
Two seemingly innocent deceptions.

Once they meet, Stevie and Ford explode into one another in a ball of lust, hotter than a July moon. Ford is assertive, dominate and in control, that is until Stevie brings him to his knees. He thinks she’s the most beautiful woman he’s ever met both inside and out. Stevie thinks he’s sweet, and sort of goofy—of course it doesn’t hurt that he drips sex like honey.

Stevie is starting to fall hard for Ford.
And Ford is all in with Stevie.
She wonders if he could ever forgive her for what she’s about to do.
She wonders if she wants him to.

They say love conquers all.
But love never met two liars like Stevie and Ford.

His lie cost her a few sleepless nights.
Her lie will cost him everything.

(Stevie’s POV)

My shoulders twitch with surprise, and I turn to find Him standing there—a ghost of a smile on his lips. Blue eyes, black hair—a face that demands the attention of every female in the room—he’s gorgeous in a cutting way that slices right through to my bones. My insides squeeze tight—a quick pang sirens through me just being this close to him. Heat radiates off his body like the summer sun off a New York sidewalk, and I’m drawn to his warmth. He’s massive, muscular, solid as sheetrock, and my fingers twitch just aching to confirm this hard-as-granite theory. He glances up at the sky as if he were having this conversation with himself, and I was simply listening in. The reserve of sunlight slices through his eyes giving off a reflective luminosity found in animals of the night. This one is a tiger. He’s got those almond eyes, a full mouth he could devour you with, and I’m sort of hoping he will.

I follow his gaze to the pink puffs staining the blood-red sky.

“Beautiful?” I balk. I can’t remember the last time I was truly impressed with anything or anyone. “I guess it’s beautiful—in the government-is-trying-to-kill-me-chemtrail sort of way.” I withhold the smile from blooming on my lips. Everyone knows that a blood-red sky means trouble, and, if my sexual intuition is right, that’s exactly what he’s about to offer. I take him in with his lean, mean I’m-going-to-eat-you-for-breakfast lewd hint of a grin, and my thighs quiver.

“Whoa.” He connects his silver-blue eyes to mine, and a jolt of electricity spasms through me, quick and viral like the hot lash of a whip. “No need to drag the government into this.” He grins as he says it. “That’s no chemtrail. It’s dragon’s breath—everyone knows that.” A deep comma-like dimple goes off in his cheek. He bears into me a minute too long as that amused look slides from his face.

“Go away.” I turn my back to him and continue to admire the landscape. There’s not a man on this planet who can chase me to bed with one wicked grin.

“Are you always so friendly?”

“Only to people I like.”

He steps into my view, and I turn slightly to annoy him.

“So you like me, then.” More dimples. “I’ll admit I thought it might be an uphill battle.”

“It will be.”
