God, this man. He’s a Bermuda Triangle of my life and I got lost there, never to be found.

I’ve been waiting with bated breath for the conclusion of this story since the cliffhanger in Manwhore. Katy Evans seems to be my frug of choice whenever I need a good dose of a magnetic and all encompassing alpha. And let me just tell you, Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint is certainly a mouthful, in more ways than one. *waggles eyebrows*
Manwhore+1-DGR2
The story picks up practically right after Manwhore ended. Rachel is pining after Malcolm after her betrayal of his trust. Unbeknownst to her, her rival from the magazine ran the story that she was supposed to but no longer had the heart to; ultimately shattering Sin’s trust in her. Talk about the worst way to find out that the woman you were falling her was basically a reporter undercover working on the ultimate story; you. Rachel no longer cares about anything but getting Malcolm back. She’s put her heart on the line with the article she printed but Malcolm is definitely slow to thaw…

I wanted to know everything. I wanted to breathe him. Live him.

When four weeks after their falling out Sin calls her to his office to talk, the last thing she expects is for him to offer her a job. She doesn’t want to work for him, she wants his heart and his forgiveness. But she knows that she’ll have to work with it. But there’s outside forces at work too and the failing magazine she works at may now fall into the clutches of Malcolm’s father. What’s a girl to do?

I just walked into the eye of the most powerful storm of my life. No. Not a storm. A hurricane.

I have to say that while I enjoyed this book, I definitely enjoyed the first one more. Rachel was like a walking hormone throughout the entire story. You hear how hot Sin is, how much she wants him, lusty thoughts, lusty thoughts, lusty thoughts. There was A LOT of lusty thoughts.
There was also a lot of Sin husking things. He husks practically every sentence he utters. Not that I’ll complain about that since he was my favorite part of the book.

Do you think of me sometimes when you don’t want to…do you need me…do you still feel me?”
“I feel you everywhere.”

One thing I did love about this book was the romance…and Malcolm. Lawd did I love me some Malcolm. There are just some alphas that will stick with you for the long haul, and Sin is that alpha for me.
Manwhore1-DGR3
I found parts of the book to be dragging and skimmed quite a bit. But this may also be my book ADD kicking in. I’m not really a reader that enjoys reading about the same couple for more than one book, unless I find that the second or third books feel truly necessary to the story. While I can see why it was split in two books and I enjoyed it, I think I could have done with this one being more of a novella. I just didn’t find that the story had that much meat to it. It was an entertaining and sinfully sexy read, but just not the all encompassing one I was hoping for.

While it may not have been perfect, it was still a great conclusion to the story. I adored the epilogue and I really did love Malcolm and the walking hormone Rachel together. A highly satisfying conclusion to a fantastic story and one I’d recommend to all fans of this wonderful author.

“I can’t breathe when you’re near, but I can’t live without you.”

Series must be read in order

Armed with two years’ worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin. Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn’t let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it’s because he saved her life, or maybe it’s because he’s completely different from everything she’s left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn’t the kind of guy she’d want to catch.

Chasing River-DGR

So…Where’d you meet this guy?”
“At the park one day. He kind of…ran into me.”
“Sounds romantic.”
“It was, in a way.” If pipe bombs could be called romantic.

I’m not sure why I didn’t realize from reading the synopsis that Amber Welles is the twin sister of Jesse Welles from Burying Water. Although I was hoping this book would have one of the 2 characters that were introduced in the previous one, I have to say I was excited when realized out who Amber was. Always the good girl to her troublemaking twin brother, I couldn’t wait to find out what her story will bring. I have to say,
while I enjoyed this book, comparing to the first two it was probably my least favorite in the series. That’s not to say it wasn’t good, because it really was. I adore KA Tucker’s writing style and her ability to bring her words to life. With the previous two books being in Oregon, it was a great change of pace to get the beauty of Ireland in this one.

Amber Welles is coming off a break up. She’s always been the good girl, the good daughter, popular girl and all around perfect. She has a great job as a nurse, she has great friends (or so she thinks), but she’s yearning for more. So she makes herself a bucket travel lists and sets off for sights unseen. But when she gets lost in Dublin, a run in with a guy with piercing green eyes leaves her rattled in more ways than one.

River Delaney has been on the wrong side of the law before, mostly thanks to his criminal older brother and his ties to the IRA. He’s not looking to be caught there again. When he follows his recently out of prison brother and catches him laying a pipe bomb in the middle of St. Stephen’s Green, he’s not exactly shocked. But when he sees a lost American tourist about to run right into the bomb’s path, he knows he has to do something. So he saves her and takes off before he can be tied to anything.

Amber can’t seem to get the man that saved her life out of her mind and when she’s able to track him down to his family’s pub, she knows that she needs to get to know him. He affects her like no other man has in her life. He’s also the exact opposite of any man she’s ever dated, and yet she’s inexplicably drawn to him.

Although I wasn’t sure what to expect from Amber with her good girl thought process, she really pleasantly surprised me. I really enjoyed her character and the way she chased River even though it wasn’t in her comfort zone. River was a hero that I liked straight away. He’s sweet and caring but with a little edge to him. I loved the relationship he had with his brother Rowen. Though I was shocked at the development between Ivy and Rowen. (Wonder if this book is the last we’ve seen of him?)

So why not more stars? I felt that for the type of reader I am there was a little too much concentration on history and suspense than the romance. While that may work very well for other readers, I found it added a certain disconnect for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was interesting to read about but not something I would typically turn to, if that even makes sense. This series isn’t too heavy on the romance and it’s not the HEA endings I usually like. It’s suspenseful and gives the reader a very satisfying HFN. I just found the previous two books to be a little more enjoyable. The Burying Water series isn’t heavy on romance or steam. If I had to rate the steam on a scale of 1-10, I’d say it’s a 3. That’s not why I read this series, though. It offers something different from the usual mainstream romance you’d find. It has suspense and mystery with the added element of romance. I just felt a slight disconnect with this one for reason I can’t quite put my finger one. That being said, I’d definitely recommend this book for fans of the series.

I like that while the characters are interconnected, the books can easily be read as standalones. So if you haven’t read the previous two books, you wouldn’t be even a little lost jumping right into this one. I would recommend the other two books simply because they were fantastic and it does give the reader a better understanding of some of the secondary characters that make an appearance.

#NewRelease & Review: ★To Tempt a SEAL★ by Sara Jane Stone

To Tempt a Seal
Author: Sara Jane Stone
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 30, 2015

For the first time in her life, social worker Lucia Lewis is ready to live. And the masquerade ball in Las Vegas is just the place to find a ridiculously hot guy to complete her wicked to-do list. The only rule? Her elegant Venetian mask—which conceals the scars that have always held her back from the life she deserves—stays on.

Navy SEAL Cade Daniels heads to Vegas on a mission to keep his best friend’s little sister out of trouble. Except the woman he’s sent to find is all heat and flame…and perfectly capable of handling herself. And him. But the moment Lucia’s mask slips, the need to heal her, body and soul, is complete and absolute temptation.

But revealing himself could cost him the one thing he isn’t willing to risk…his heart.

Cade,” she moaned.
“Hold on tight, gorgeous. We’re just getting started.”

Sara Jane Stone is a new to me author and one I didn’t know what to expect from when I started reading this book. All I knew is the title had “SEAL” in it so I was sold. What? I never said I wasn’t easy. After finishing it I can definitely tell that this author is definitely one I would read in the future and this series has fully sucked me in and I can’t wait for more.

I love a romance that is a bit outside of the norm with it’s story line. Although the set up is not unlike ones I’ve read in the past, I loved that the heroine wasn’t your typical beauty. Scarred by her foster father as a young girl, Lucia has never seen herself as beautiful. She’s never been the one to get any attention besides the uncomfortable stares that her facial scars induced. After losing weight and donning a masquerade mask, Lucia hopes that this bit of anonymity while at a party in Vegas will give her exactly what she needs; a night of scorching hot sex with a man that will cross off all 3 points on her sexual to-do list. And the best part about it is she wouldn’t have to lose her mask throughout the entire process.

In his world, relationships were like quicksand. Even if they could keep their heads above the surface, what would happen when she found out he’d been sent here to find her?

Navy SEAL Cade Daniels notices the striking beauty in the gorgeous dress right away. He’s drawn to her in a way he’s never been before. But as much as he wants to give into the obviously crackling chemistry that sizzles between them, he’s also on a mission. His best friend and Lucia’s older sister, Natalie, sent him there specifically to ensure that Lucia doesn’t accomplish hers. A little distraction goes a long way, but before Cade knows what hit him, the attraction between them proves too much and when he gives into the inevitable and falls into bed with the woman, he knows that only one time won’t do.

He’d been on covert missions that dialed the adrenaline up to one hundred, but this feel like the biggest thrill of his life.

Cade has seen first hand through his parents and fellow SEALs what a relationship with a military can do and he wants to part of it. But even knowing that all he can offer Lucia is temporary, he can still give her the best few nights of her life. Things don’t always go according to plan though and it’s not long before Natalie finds out what happens and keeping his true identity from Lucia becomes harder and harder.

This was a super steamy read and while I found the characters had quite a bit of depth for the type of story it was, I also craved something a little deeper. (No pun intended) While their chemistry was off the charts, I found their primary connection to be more on the physical then emotional sense. I suppose that I just needed something a little bit more on that end. Also I found the way it resolved to be just a little too easy and perfect. Considering how everything took place and Cade’s lies by omission, I wanted him to work a little harder for his forgiveness. Lucia forgave him way too easily in my opinion. Overall, this was a sweet and sexy romance and one I’d definitely recommend to readers that enjoy a story about a sexy SEAL and the woman that brings him to his knees.

I want to take you any and every way you can imagine. In public or hidden away, if it turns you on, I want to try it. And one way or the other, we’ll end with you screaming my name.

Amazon / iBooks / B&N / Kobo

Despite the many steps it had taken her to wind up sitting and waiting for membership at Serve, nothing would now deter her from the path she’d chosen.

It was time.

Time she truly moved on. Time she admitted what she wanted. Time to go after it.
The moment her lungs filled with oxygen on a heavy inhale, the door opened and a tall, muscled man walked in, flipping through what looked to be her extensive questionnaire.

“Ava Webber?” he asked, eyes fused to the paper.

“Yes.”

He kicked the door shut with his foot, flipped to another page, and frowned. He still hadn’t met her eyes yet, which was a shame, because even in the low light, she could tell his eyes were not only the iciest blue she’d ever seen, they were intense. Power and strength radiated from him as he took his seat behind the desk. His big body settled into the chair, and all his muscles flexed beneath the thin black T-shirt he wore.

Her mouth watered. Just the way he moved was hypnotizing.

“There’s a problem with your application,” he said, and now he looked at her. But the sound of his voice and the finality in his tone made a rise of panic swell in her gut.

“What? No, that can’t be. I read through the entire handbook, and I’m confident I meet every requirement.”

His eyebrows furrowed. He leaned forward and placed his hands on the desk. Which did crazy amazing things to those impressive biceps of his.

“You didn’t fill out section three completely,” he said, flipping to the page in question and sliding it in front of her.

“For preference in a partner, you put male.”

“Is that a problem?”

He tossed her a lethal grin, and she suddenly felt a little giddy. Whoever this man was, he knew how to work a room—likely a woman, too—and had a special kind of swagger that was gifted from god and well-honed over the years. He glowed with confidence and an alpha intensity that matched the gleam of the laid-back charm in his eyes.

Male is a good start. Narrows the attendees down by half. But usually I’m given more to work with. Like body type, hair color, eye color—”

“I don’t care about any of that.” Her response seemed to take him off guard, but it was the truth.

“All I care about is that it’s anonymous sex.”

He looked at her for a long moment. “That’s a problem. Because see on section five? Sexual preferences, boundaries, hard limits, personal wants and desires?”

She nodded, looking at the section in question. “What’s your point?”

“You put any.”

“I’m aware.”

“As am I. Which is why I’m concerned.”

Ava took a deep breath. Hottie McSexyGrin was grilling her. He was the last step before she could participate in this club. She absently gripped her ring finger. Even with the discarded ring sitting in a drawer at home, she still felt its weight.

She couldn’t lose this chance. She needed a place like Serve. Needed to feel alive again and needed this man to stop blocking her from the path she’d discovered. A path that would finally let her be free.

“I don’t understand your concern.” She tapped the paper. “I’m open to any experience, hence the word.”

He raised an eyebrow. “Yes, I can read, sweetheart. But I’m not sure you understand all Serve has to offer. If you leave yourself open to anything, I can assure you, you just may get that.”

“I see we finally understand each other.”

He sat back in his chair and looked at her with amusement. “In the spirit of understanding each other, let’s go through a list.”

“List?”

He shrugged. “Yeah, you seem to be open to anything, but I need to be clear on your desires, so we’ll start with your pussy.”

“Excuse me?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, did I offend you? Or are you not sitting in the middle of a sex club and claiming to be open to anything?”Great, not only was this guy sex on a stick, he was a smartass
trying to call her bluff. Fine, she could play.

“What is it you’d like to know?”

“Several things,” he admitted with a heat in his eyes that made her thighs tingle. “Do you like your pussy to be sucked? Fucked? Made love to?”

She held her posture as still as possible. “All of the above.”

“And what about your man? Assuming I assign you one. What do you want to do to him?”

“Whatever he wants.”

He tsked. “Oh sweetheart, that is the best and worst answer you could give.”

“I don’t see how me wanting to please the man you will assign me is a bad thing.”

He grinned, obviously picking up on her determination that she wasn’t leaving without what she’d come for.

“Not bad, just trying to keep your expectations in check. He may decide to fuck your mouth for a while before touching you otherwise.”

“Sounds great.” And it really did. There was something about sucking a man that really turned her on. Not that she was going to go into details about that since the guy on the other side of the desk was baiting her as it was.

He shook his head. “I don’t think you know what you’re asking for.”

That’s where he was wrong. She’d thought about this more than he could know, and she knew exactly what she was asking for. Time he understood she was confident in her choice.

“I want to touch him however he’ll let me, and he can have me however he wants. I don’t know how to be more clear than that. Unless you’d like to run through every single scenario?”

The sarcasm in her voice made his amusement fire into something a little more lusty. His shoulders stiffened. She was wearing him down, showing she could handle what she was asking for, and slinging him back a taste of his own medicine.

But Nolan wants more. More than Ava is willing to give. And as long as the blindfold stays on, she’ll never discover that the two men she’s falling for are one and the same…

This was what being consumed felt like.

After ending a relationship with a man that took too much of her in his controlling ways, Ava Webber is not looking to go back to being the woman she once was. She has a successful career and she takes care of her own self, thank you very much. She doesn’t need a man to validate or take care of her. She may not want a man to consume her life again, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t want that in the bedroom…no strings attached. And what better place to get that than in Serve; an exclusive sex club that caters to people with needs just like hers.

Nolan Hart ensures that Serve’s clients get what they want, how they want it. He’s responsible for matching up subs with a Dom and making fantasies happen. After a disastrous match at his previous club caused a sub to be pushed too far by a Dom that didn’t listen to her limits he takes his job very seriously. And when the gorgeous Ava comes in saying that she wants a night of anonymous sex with a man and willing to try ‘anything’, he knows he’s that man for her and no other will do.

In the spirit of understanding each other, let’s go through a list.”
“List?”
He shrugged. “Yeah, you seem to be open to anything, but I need to be clear on your desires, so we’ll start with your pussy.”
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. Did I offend you? Or are you not sitting in the middle of a sex club and claiming to be open to anything?”

But one night proves to be no enough and what starts off as a night of anonymous pleasure soon begins to turn into something more than either one of them every expected.

He was all over her, in her, in every way. She couldn’t breathe. Didn’t want to.

I’ve been a huge fan of this series since book 1 and I’ve loved the different author contributions to it by both Katee Robert and Tessa Bailey. Having loved Joya Ryan’s other Brazen series, Chasing Love, I couldn’t wait to see what she’ll have to bring to the mix.

While I did enjoy this book as a whole, it was also missing that edge that the rest of the books in the series had. The rest of the Serve series really played into that BDSM element. It was always that perfect mix of BDSM and romance without pushing too many boundaries. Rules of Seduction was missing that for me. Aside from the sex taking place inside Serve and involving some light bondage there was none of that here. It could have been a great book as a standalone, but as part of this particular series, it didn’t quite fit…at least for me.

I also struggled to form any sort of connection with either one of the characters. Ava, I never could develop a liking to. She was just too cold for my tastes. There was also not enough backstory on the characters for me either and no real physical descriptions. You know the hair and eye colors and you know their individual bad past experience but nothing else.

Nolan knew her and what she wanted better than she did. She was sliding down a slope that wasn’t just slippery, it was fucking terrifying, and it led to a cliff. One where she’d fly over and crash into a deep chasm.

I suppose I just needed something a little bit more here.

If you haven’t read the rest of this series, you may enjoy this one more than I did. I had high hopes for this book that it unfortunately just didn’t live up to. It was an enjoyable read albeit just an OK one. I still love Joya Ryan’s writing and look forward to more from her in the future and of course more in this series too.

Don’t miss the rest of this sizzling hot series!

Review: ★The Marriage Contract★ by Katee Robert

The Marriage Contract
Author: Katee Robert
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 2, 2015

25253481-2-2

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katee Robert begins a smoking hot new series about the O’Malley family-wealthy, powerful, dangerous and seething with scandal.

Teague O’Malley hates pretty much everything associated with his family’s name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a “business” alliance, Teague’s ready to tell his dad exactly where he can stuff his millions. But then Teague actually meets his new fiancée, sees the bruises on her neck and the fight still left in her big blue eyes, and vows he will do everything in his power to protect her.

Everyone knows the O’Malleys have a dangerous reputation. But Callie wasn’t aware just what that meant until she saw Teague, the embodiment of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch sizzles through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they’re in. Because Callie’s keeping a dark secret-and what Teague doesn’t know could get him killed.

Whatever she’d expected from this kiss, it certainly hadn’t been desire. Though DESIRE was too tame a word. She’d felt desire before, and this wasn’t it. This was…need. All-consuming need that devoured everything in its path, leaving only destruction in its wake.

Having loved every Brazen book of Katee’s I’ve ever read, when i saw that she’s releasing this brand new series that’s grittier and has a mob story line? I was hooked. Line and sinker. Reading it was an absolute no brainer.

The set up was extremely intriguing. Callista “Callie” Sheridan is the daughter of one of the prominent Boston mafia families. In the hopes of uniting themselves with an even more powerful one, her father arranges her to marry the eldest son of the Halloran family. Unfortunately he’s also known as more ruthless with his women than he is with his business. When he also turns up dead a few days before the engagement announcement her father doesn’t spare a moment before promising her to Teague O’Malley.

Teague is the son of a powerful Irish Boston mafia family and he also wants absolutely nothing to do with the family business. But when his eldest brother comes to him with this “business alliance”, the last thing he expects is to be inexplicably drawn to the delicate beauty that’s now his “fiance”. As much as Teague longs to be away from this life, he can’t leave his siblings. Being incredibly attracted to Callie certainly doesn’t hurt things either. Unfortunately it’s not all smooth sailing when their engagement leads to a deadly mafia war started by the Halloran family.

There’s a lot that happens in this book aside from the central romance. There’s numerous POVs and several characters introduced, including all of Teague’s siblings and the Halloran brothers. Because of this it took me quite a bit to truly wrap my mind around everything and really get into the story. While each character added to the story, it was also a lot to keep track of at first. This may very well be a case of the “series firsts”. This book definitely had a much grittier feel to it than any of Katee’s previous books, which was great. So what didn’t work for me? The romance.

Now I’ll say this; considering both Teague and Callie’s personalities, their romance fit them. I just didn’t feel like it fit the story. It was just too saccharine sweet. I’m not a fan of insta-love and this was a very solid case of this. They basically fall for each other at first sight. Katee pulls it off because, again, she makes it fit the characters. But I just needed something…more. The amount of time Teague called her “angel” almost drove me up the wall crazy. 59 times to be exact and yes I counted because I was just that irritated by it.

Sadly I’m one of those reader that if I don’t connect to the main couple, it won’t matter how great the rest of the book and story is. And the story itself was great. The set up for the next book with James Holloran sounds like it will be right up my alley as a matter of fact. Unfortunately with this book, it just fell a bit flat. I wanted a more gritty feel to it considering the story line and I just didn’t get that. Readers that haven’t read much mafia romance will definitely enjoy this. I like my mafia books with a little more of an edge, so this one just fell a romance shy of that for me.

I’m definitely hooked on the series and absolutely cannot wait until the next book. ESPECIALLY after that preview that we got in this book. Can’t hurt that I had a mental visual of Charlie Hunnam after reading James Holloran’s description. Nope. Didn’t hurt one tiny bit.

The saving grace in her own life has been Dean West, the only man who can make her burn with desire and help her through her burdens. But when a shocking discovery turns her life upside-down, even being wrapped in Dean’s arms might not be enough to keep her out of harm’s way…

I have to say, for an 80 page novella, I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of it. After reading Burn For Me, I wasn’t exactly sold on the couple in that book but I was definitely hooked on the suspense arc of it. So of course I dove straight into Break For Me to see all the secrets unravel.

Twelve years ago the Bell siblings lost their mother and they have also spent twelve years wondering what happened to her. While the older brother, Tate, always blamed their father for her disappearance and withdrew into himself and his hatred until a woman opened his eyes, his sisters always knew otherwise. They knew that their father had nothing to do with it, but the mystery behind her disappearance ate away at them just the same. Each sister took their own focus and Jensen turned to law enforcement.

Now a take-no-prisoners (ha! see what I did there?) cop, the bane of her existence becomes the too sexy for his own good and cocky ADA, Dean West. Dean has always wanted Jensen, but her hands off attitude never gave him the invite he needed. But then one night that all changes and the passion between them finally ignites and burns.

This is a short, quick paced and very sexy novella that I finished in one sitting. To be honest, considering just how short it was I was surprised that I was able to connect to the couple as much as I did. I loved reading about the further unveiling of the missing mother, and boy does the set up for the next book look to be a juicy one.

Burn For Me, Break For Me and Long For Me are all part of the same story arc but introduces a different couple in each book. Next is Guy and Christina’s story, and I just know it’s going to be a good one. The set up sounds like one angsty and emotional read which is exactly right up my alley.

Though it wasn’t a story that completely blew me away, it was a very solid 3.5 star read that I’d recommend for anyone looking for a sexy and suspenseful story to spend an afternoon with.

Adored - coverA man who gave up on love

Mitch Bradford is an intimidating man. In his professional life, he has a reputation for demolishing his opponents in the courtroom. At the exclusive BDSM club Sanctum, he prefers disciplining pretty submissives with no strings attached. In his line of work, there’s no time for a healthy relationship. After a few failed attempts, he knows he’s not good for any woman—especially not his best friend’s sister.

A woman who always gets what she wants

Laurel Daley knows what she wants, and her sights are set on Mitch. He’s smart and sexy, and it doesn’t matter that he’s a few years older and has a couple of bitter ex-wives. Watching him in action at work and at play, she knows he just needs a little polish to make some woman the perfect lover. She intends to be that woman, but first she has to show him how good it could be.

A killer lurking in the shadows

When an unexpected turn of events throws the two together, Mitch and Laurel are confronted with the perfect opportunity to explore their mutual desire. Night after night of being close breaks down Mitch’s defenses. The more he sees of Laurel, the more he knows he wants her. Unfortunately, someone else has their eyes on Laurel and they have murder in mind.

He was in deep and he was fairly certain that this time he would drown

I love this series. Lexi Blake never fails to deliver a sexy and suspenseful romance in her Masters and Mercenaries series. Though these novellas are a part of the series, they’re slightly different from the actual books. The characters in each novella are not predominant characters in the series story arc. They’re secondary characters that mainly stand on their own, so you can easily read these novellas out of order even if you haven’t read the rest of the series. As a matter of fact, you’re better off reading the novellas in order as those are closer tied together than they are to the full length books, if that makes sense.

Adored is the story of Mitch and Laurel. Laurel Daley is the younger sister of Will from Cherished and Mitch is his best friend. Now I love me that falling for the older brother’s best friend trope, so I was really looking forward to this. And while it may not have packed the same punch as the full length books for me, it still gave me my fix of the M&M series.

Laurel has been in love with Mitch for years, but unfortunately for her, Mitch doesn’t see her that way. She’s too young for him and he’s too jaded. Two failed marriages under his belt, he’s not looking to add another one. He can’t give Laurel what she needs, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t tempt him. So one night where the passion between them burns too hot to resist, they give into the temptation. Only for Mitch to completely go back into his jaded shelf immediately after and forcing Laurel to completely give up hope on any sort of future with him.

But not everything is so simple. When an unexpected turn of events after their one night of passion forces them together, it allows them to further explore the passion between them.

Of course it wouldn’t be a M&M book without an appearance by some of my favorite characters (cough Ian cough). But this really focused more on the romance with a side of suspense. I really enjoyed this story, though it was missing that extra oomph that Lexi Blake’s books usually carry for me. But this is mainly because I’m not a big novella fan. They are just too fact paced and short for me to truly get invested in the characters. But I can never pass up a book by this author, so I couldn’t miss this one. So while it may not have a blow me away kind of read, it was a very enjoyable one. Quick, steamy, suspenseful. The perfect book to spend a sexy evening with.

It didn’t seem fair that a week could do that much damage to her. That his touch had become a phantom tattoo with all the permanence that entailed.

Can you lose your heart to someone after spending just one week with them? One incredibly passionate, unforgettable week is all it took for Isabella to fall head over heels for the broody rockstar, Logan. What is it about Logan that made her fall as hard as she did?

That may have been it. But really it was his all encompassing presence that completely drew her in. But then he shattered her heart when he left her. But what Izzy doesn’t know, is it broke Logan even more to do it. In order to protect her from his deranged stalker that fancies herself in love with him, he had to sever all ties with her. That doesn’t mean he’s let her go…not in his heart and definitely not from his mind.

It’s been six months since that whirlwind week they spent together. Izzy is getting more and more successful business and tries to loose herself in the constant travel. When she notices someone watching her and figures out that Logan hasn’t stopped thinking of her either, she’s determined not to let him run anymore. Especially when she figures out the depth of his feelings.

He lived for the pain and the pleasure. And in the dark, where there was nothing but a tiny line of firelight in his room, he loved her with all that he had and finally felt alive.

As she slowly begins to unravel his secrets and Logan begins to open up to her more and more, the imminent danger draws near until it finally hits with a strike so devastating, you’ll never see it coming. All I know is thank gawd that i have book 3 already because if I had to wait for it after that cliffhanger, I’m pretty sure I may have cut a bitch. True story.

Bulletproof Weeks was just as sexy as book one, but for me it also fell into that middle-book-of-a-trilogy-itis syndrome. What I mean is, there were certain parts of it that felts stretched out and slow going for me. I tend to prefer my stories with just a little more meat, which is why for some reason this happens to me with pretty much any middle book of a trilogy that I read. But that just may be my book ADD kicking in too.

While I want to say that it could have been done in 2 books, I can also see why their story needed this one. It was like the calm before the storm. It gave the reader a little more depth into both characters and to truly get invested in their romance. It may have been slow paced and stretched out at times, but let me tell you, that cliffhanger will leave you begging for the next book. Guaranteed.

Review3.5 stars

When Marcus wanted something, he would hunt it down until it was his. And he wanted Roni Axton in his bed…

As disappointed as I was with Carnal Secrets I was equal parts dreading and anticipating this book. I knew if I didn’t like this one, it may be the end of the road for me with this series. That’s not to say that I didn’t dive into it immediately upon having it land on my kindle. Something about this series will just always be a guilty pleasure for me. It’s the combination of great PNR, humor and super hot sex. It just does it for me. Though with the wait between each book I managed to completely forget who Marcus was. But then again, my puny brain has the memory span of a month at most, so this may have most likely been just me.

I’m so happy that this book was definitely MUCH better than Carnal Secrets. Though it wasn’t as good as the first book for me (Feral Sins will forever be my favorite).

Roni is Nick’s sister and enforcer in her pack. She’s a total badass bitch.

She’s also a tomboy that struggles to see her own appeal. So when the super sexy Marcus begins to hit on her mercilessly and pursue her with a single minded intent, she has a hard time believing that he’s truly interested in her.

Marcus is a bit of a manwhore, but he has his reasons. His past pretty much ensures that he not want to find his mate. But Roni draws him to her like a magnet. There’s just something about her and he knows that he won’t be satisfied until he has her underneath him…or on top, side, standing up…he’s not picky.

I gotta say that Marcus and Roni were definitely very well matched. They’re both sharp with the wit and have equal standing in their packs since Marcus is also an enforcer. I loved watching him wear Roni down. When the man sets his mind to it, he definitely sets him mind to it.

I’m not sure if my inner pervert has gotten super picky lately or what, but I didn’t find the sex quite as hot as it was in the previous books. I did like the story quite a bit, however. There was a little bit of everything; suspense, action, and lots of sexy times. Of course what would this series be without the rabid grandma and her insults? All the rest of our favorite characters are back too.

As much as I enjoyed the story, it just didn’t managed to completely grip me as the first 2 books did. I had no issues setting it down and coming back to it. That’s not to say it wasn’t a great read, it just wasn’t one of those can’t-put-it-down ones for me. There’s a lot that’s going on here not only with Roni and Marcus, but Marcus’s past and their packs. I did find that everything else that was happening at times took away from the romance of the story, though not immensely.

Fans of this series will definitely enjoy this one. And if you’re like me and didn’t fully enjoy the 3rd book, this one is much better. I’m really looking forward to the next installment in this series.
