Blind Faith
Sin Brothers #3
Author: Rebecca Zanetti
Genre: Romantic Suspense
 (January 27, 2015; Forever Mass Market; $8.00)

A betrayal he couldn’t forget…For Nate Dean, love is a four-letter word. As part of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be ruthless soldiers with an expiration date. They were loyal only to one another . . . until Nate laid eyes on the woman who stole his heart and blew his world apart. Now, years later, his family is still paying the price for his mistake. But as time runs out, there’s only one person who can save his family: the very woman Nate swore he’d never trust again.

A love she couldn’t deny…

The moment Audrey Madison spies Nate across a crowded ballroom, she can barely breathe. He’s just as undeniably sexy as she remembers, yet there’s an edge to him now that’s as irresistible as it is dangerous. When he asks for her help, Audrey can’t refuse. But she has secrets of her own-secrets that, if Nate ever discovers them, may cost them both their lives…

Excerpt

Nate studied her, wondering how their very different childhoods had somehow brought them to the same place once again. “Why haven’t you slept with anybody but me?” he asked, surprising himself.

Her head jerked up. Vulnerability flashed across her delicate face to be quickly hidden as she slid her arms into the robe and belted it around her tiny waist. “I haven’t had a lot of time, with being blown up, operated on, and then trying to commit fraud on the US Government on behalf of your sworn enemy.” Sarcastic humor lifted her top lip, but the lightness failed to reach her eyes or flash that devastating dimple. “Sometimes a girl just has to prioritize.”

He’d loved her sense of humor. This one? Not so much. Sarcasm and fatalism didn’t fit with the person deep inside Audrey, the one she’d shoved down to survive. “I understand why you stayed to receive medical attention.” The commander’s medical team and facilities beat any other in the world, without question. If anybody could have saved her leg, it would’ve been them. “But now it’s time to go.” As much as the thought cut through him like a blade, he didn’t trust her enough to send her to his brothers in Montana. But he could find her safety. “Let me help you.”

“I don’t want your help.” Her stance widened slightly as if they faced off under high noon.

Worse yet, absolute truth lived in every word. The woman really didn’t want his help. A surprising hurt compressed his lungs. “Why are you still working with him?” he breathed out. Could her mother’s approval mean that much to her? After everything?

Audrey lifted her chin. “They saved my life and gave me a second chance. It’s the only life I’ve truly known, and I’m doing some good with the senator.”

“Find another life,” Nate ground out.

“No.” Regret filled her sigh. “You’re the one who told me that our childhood shapes us. I’m just doing what I can right now.”

He shook his head. Why did he get the feeling she wasn’t telling him everything? There was enough truth in her statement that he couldn’t find the lie, but a lie was there. He was sure of it. “I’m going to kill him, Aud. Then I’m going to blow up every facility he owns and make sure they never function again. You don’t want to be here for this.”

Awareness pursed her lips as she studied him. Her breath hitched as her chest lifted. Those amazing eyes widened. “Suicide mission?”

“Probably.” Which was yet another reason the previous night had been a one-shot deal. Chances were slim he’d survive the attack he planned after saving his brothers.

She nodded, regret twisting her lip. “Hasn’t that always been your plan?”

“Yes.” Except for the brief time she’d been his. Then his plans had changed dramatically to a future with possible kids and even a fucking picket fence. He’d known better, without a doubt. A bullshit every-day life had never been for him. He’d been created to kill, and through a lucky turn of fate had been given brothers to love—to protect and ultimately save. They were happy, and once the chips were deactivated, they wouldn’t require his skill set any longer.

He wouldn’t be needed, and he needed them so very much. Too much.

“Hmmm.” Pain lived in her eyes, but no give existed in her jaw. “I just realized—I can’t save you.”

“No.” He frowned. What was she talking about? “I don’t expect you to save me.”

“I know.” She tightened the belt, her eyes glimmering with tears. “I’ll get you the codes and any info on Jory, but you need to decide to save yourself. When this is all over, if you and your brothers survive, you need to save yourself. Decide to keep going.”

That was the rub, now wasn’t it? The life he’d been created for, the one he’d excelled at, was over. Where exactly was he supposed to go?

AUTHOR’S TOP FIVE

Top five favorite scenes in the Sin Brothers series

Hello, everyone!  Thanks to the gang here for having me over to talk about my top five favorite scenes in the Sin Brother series.  I just love the first scene of any book when the hero and heroine first are on the page together, so it’s probably not a surprise that four of these are from the first scenes in the books, in the order of the books:
1.     FORGOTTEN SINS:  This is the first scene of the entire series, and it has Josie Dean called down to the hospital because her husband has been attacked and has amnesia.  The thing is that Josie hasn’t seen Shane for two years and didn’t really know him all that well during their brief marriage.  She heads down to the hospital to find him wounded, sexier than ever, with danger on his heels.
2.     SWEET REVENGE:  This one starts out with the oldest brother, Matt Dean, wounded in a back alley.  The heroine, Laney Jacobs, finds him and helps him into her bar.  He’s instantly attracted and intrigued by her, and she’s wary…and soon passes out from the sight of blood.
3.     BLIND FAITH:  This one actually starts with Nate Dean hunting down Audrey Madison, the woman who’d broken his heart years ago.  He finds her in a ballroom in DC, and he immediately squires her away to ask for her help in saving his brothers.  There’s a lot of tension and pent up feelings between the two, and they’re kissing more than talking in record time.
4.     TOTAL SURRENDER:  This one starts with sexy Jory Dean, the youngest brother who’s been missing for two years, held in a cell staring out at the heroine, Piper Oliver, who’s been hired to save his life.  They don’t trust each other, but they have a common goal…and attraction.
5.     There’s a scene in TOTAL SURRENDER where all four brothers are reunited, and that’s one of my absolute favorite scenes in the entire series.

It Started Like This
By Jessie Lane
(A Chelsea Camaron approved message)

Chelsea Camaron and I do a lot of plotting together. In fact, she’s the person I call to help me through my writer’s blocks. For me, the Regulators MC was an idea I thought up shortly after writing Secret Maneuvers. In depth, the Regulators MC is quite a bit different from what I’ve seen concept wise. However, I was intimidated by the idea of stepping into the biker romance arena. So, I put the idea on the back burner although CC said she thought it would totally kick ass.

Time passed, and then I started writing Stripping Her Defenses. This was where I knew the Regulators MC would make an entrance into my writing world. They were always involved in Riley Sullivan’s story line and how he finds his ex-wife after their divorce. But the more I thought about them, the more I loved the idea of them. Still, I didn’t think I could do it on my own. I, admittedly, am not the expert at that sort of alpha man.

Then it hit me. I needed my best friend. She writes an alpha man like nobody’s business!

So I called CC and I laid it all out for her, positively sure I was going to have to beg. And I would have too. I would have begged and pleaded and even shed crocodile tears to talk her into the Regulators MC project. Luckily, she didn’t make me do all that. She immediately started spouting ideas for the series and I asked her if she would marry me and have little author babies with me.

She told me our husband’s probably wouldn’t like that idea but we could totally write those books.

So, I gave up the idea of running away and marrying my bestie and settled for writing the Regulators MC instead. I’m SO glad she said yes. She’s breathed this amazing, unbelievable life into characters in a way I never could have accomplished. I’m a lucky, lucky woman to have a friend who balances me so beautifully. She’s my ying to her yang.

In closing, I can’t wait for everyone to read Ice. It already blows me away and it’s not even done yet. These characters… AHHH I love these characters. I can honestly say I couldn’t have done it without the fabulous, incredible, marvelous (I’m kissing my best friend’s ass here, bear with me) stunning, phenomenal friend. Hopefully, after you read Ice, you’ll love it as much as we both do.

Thanks for having me here today! Happy reading everyone!

Chelsea Camaron was born and raised in Coastal North Carolina. She currently resides in Southern Louisiana with her husband and two children but her heart is always Carolina day dreaming.

Chelsea always wanted to be a writer, but like most of us, let fear of the unknown grab a hold of her dream; she realized that if she was going to tell her daughter to go for her dreams, that it was time to follow her own advice.

Chelsea grew up turning wrenches alongside her father, and from that grew her love for old muscle cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles, which just so happened to inspired her ‘Daddy’s Girls’ series. She is a small town country girl enjoying life and, Chelsea hopes that her readers remember not to take life too seriously and to embrace your inner five year old, because five year olds know how to enjoy the simple things in life and how to always have fun.

☆FINNclub Exclusive Content☆ Guest Post by @DianeAlberts

FL Amazon

Fractured Lines by Jen McLaughlin will be releasing October 14th, but first I have some exclusive content to share. Each week, FINNClub team members will be sharing special details from the book, and series, in order to share their excitement for the new novel.

Today I have an author guest post from Jen McLaughlin explaining why she chose to continue the series by bringing in an adult title.

FL_BonusTeaser1

Finn and Carrie—adult style

When I decided to write another Finn and Carrie book, I knew where I had to pick up the story. At the end of OUT OF MIND, we fast forward seven years. So if I wanted to give the readers what they wanted—which was more Finn and Carrie—that’s where I had to pick up.

To take a NA book and turn it into an adult book is (to my knowledge, anyway) not something that’s been done before. It’s a bit daunting of a prospect, but I knew that it was something I wanted to try anyway! And I have to say, it’s been so much fun to take these NA characters, make them grow up…and put them through hell all over again, so to speak, lol.

I’m hoping that by taking these younger characters and turning them into something new and fun, in a way, it can let people who haven’t experienced these characters as NA characters to enjoy them as adults. And on the flip side, it will let the readers who came along on their earlier journey experience a new side of Finn and Carrie…their mature/adult sides.

What do you think of this concept? Would you like to see other NA characters turned into adult books?

OOL_SeriesBanner
The lines we once crossed so easily have widened and torn us apart…
Once upon a time I thought Finn and I would live happily ever after, but real life doesn’t always have a happy ending. He’s testing my trust, and I’m losing faith in the man I thought I’d spend the rest of my life with, and there’s nothing I do can stop it. He’s the one I trusted to keep me safe, but now he’s the source of my greatest pain…
Forgiveness is fragile, and some fractures never fully heal…
One mistake—a slip in a moment of weakness—might cost me everything I’ve worked so hard for. The thing about trust is that it’s a lot easier to lose than it is to build. Just as I’m about to give up and surrender to the demons from my past, an unexpected threat reminds me what I’m best at: protecting the woman I love. Whether or not she wants me, I will fight for Carrie and our daughter, and I will keep them safe—no matter the cost.
Even if I have to put my life and my heart on the line.

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT
SEAL Undercover by M.L. Buchman
Six-foot-two, eyes of blue, and built like a linebacker. Sure, that’s the perfect choice of the man to go undercover in Somalia to rescue hostages taken by pirates. Isn’t it?
Navy SEAL Lieutenant William Bruce, the hero of Light Up the Night, thinks so. In fact, like the good soldier he is, he fought for the assignment. Of course, he and Somalia have a history, which might be a good thing, but he’s thinking not. His father died in the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu and his young son swore vengeance on a nation. He isn’t stupid enough to take on the entire country, but he is certainly going to take the job. As a SEAL, he is also committed to whatever it takes to protect Americans and American interests. If that means walking into darkest Africa and consorting with pirates, then he’s the man to do it.
His cover is deceiving in its simplicity. A disaffected mercenary, a seasoned fighter, looking for a quick pirate dollar. But…
That was one of the problems of running undercover. You started to believe that you belonged. Even though that psych condition was trained for, it was difficult to avoid.
And Bill believes hard. Right until he runs into someone who believes just as deeply.
Lieutenant Trisha O’Malley of the U.S. Army’s 160th SOAR helicopter regiment is part of an extract team. She’s there to help recover a group of hostages that Billy the SEAL, as she calls him, has done the recon on and is ready to deliver.
Bill would blend back in and continue the mission. Trisha, from her vantage point on high sees that’s not such a good idea.
“Get out of here! You’re screwing me over!”
“There are two technicals coming in from the south and west,” the pilot shouted as she kept the blades at near takeoff, the chopper actually bouncing its skids on the soil.
Okay, he had to admit that didn’t sound good. He jumped onto one of the skids and found a place to hold on.
Trisha cursed the man for eight kinds of an idiot. Now she was out of balance with his additional weight on the right side and barely off the ground as three technicals armed to the teeth roared into the square.
She’d already fired a thousand-odd rounds and a pair of rockets that would make up for a third of his weight. And she’d burned about ten gallons of fuel since the start of the mission at six-plus pounds a piece, which bought her another third. Even with that, he made her overweight and it was a major struggle to compensate. Time to dump some more ammo, which was fine with her.
“Open fire, guns only!” she called to Roland and stamped on the left foot-pedal, which would press Mr. Jerk against the chopper rather than flinging him off. He’d still better hang on.
Two feet off the ground, the chopper spun beneath the rotor like a child’s wooden spinning top. Roland unleashed both M134 mini-guns as they rotated about their central axis. A line of fire three feet above the ground arced outward like a buzz saw. It sliced through everything in its sweeping path.
It chewed up the front walls of houses, hammering a line of holes through each burlap door. She really hoped that if there was anyone home, they were lying down on the ground, as any sensible person would be during a firefight. Anyone standing up was about to be shot.
It also dragged a line of fire across the front of each technical. It shredded radiators, engines, front windshields.
By the second rotation of the Little Bird, people were bailing off the truck beds.
On the third rotation, the two lead technicals exploded in balls of fire and she decided it was high time to be somewhere else, preferably before her engine scooped up chunks of truck shrapnel.

M. L. Buchman has over 25 novels in print. His military romantic suspense books have been named Barnes & Noble and NPR “Top 5 of the year” and Booklist “Top 10 of the Year.” In addition to romance, he also writes contemporaries, thrillers, and fantasy and science fiction.
In among his career as a corporate project manager he has: rebuilt and single-handed a fifty-foot sailboat, both flown and jumped out of airplanes, designed and built two houses, and bicycled solo around the world.
He is now a full-time writer, living on the Oregon Coast with his beloved wife. He is constantly amazed at what you can do with a degree in Geophysics. You may keep up with his writing at www.mlbuchman.com.

Ruthless People
A Novel by J. J. McAvoy
Release Date: July 17, 2014
Ruthless_People_Hi-Res-Cover
To the outside world, they look like American Royalty, giving to charities, feeding the homeless, rebuilding the city. But behind closed doors is a constant battle for dominance between two Bosses, cultures, and hearts.

Ruthless People is a romantic crime fiction set in modern day Chicago, and follows the life and marriage of Melody Giovanni and Liam Callahan—rivals by blood and leaders through fear. Their marriage, arranged by their fathers in hopes to end years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians.
Liam believes he’s getting a simple-minded wife, one he can control, one who bends to his every need . . . the complete opposite of Melody. She knows exactly what type of man he is, and would rather die than give up the power she has spent her life building.
The Mafia of the past has evolved, and with rival bosses gunning for them, Melody and Liam will have to learn to work as one to take down those who stand in their way.

4.5 Ruthlessly Delicious Stars

She would never convert to what I needed her to be. She was a ruthless savage, and if you cannot break a ruthless savage, you need to figure out how to tame them.

When the first line in the book blurb is this:
“Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets the Sopranos…”
A bitch can get wary. I mean, it can’t possibly be THAT delicious of a combination, right? No way will it live up to my expectations of gritty, erotic, amazing banter, with mafia savages that you can’t help but love to hate…and just simply love. Right? RIGHT?! WRONG. Because it really was that perfect combination and so much more.
Rule One: You kill for family. You die for family. Because you can’t trust anyone else
If you’re looking for a book with a heroine that’s almost more ruthless and bloodthirsty than the Irish mob hero, and an all around bad bitch, look no further. Meet Melody Giovanni
The daughter of the biggest Italian mafia boss in Chicago, and soon to be wife of Liam Callahan. Their marriage, arranged by their fathers in hopes to end years of bloodshed between the Irish and the Italians, is also bound to combine two of the biggest mafia families. Too bad Mel is not exactly the docile little mafia princess that Liam has been expecting
…do not ever put your fucking lips on me without my permission.”
“My mother told me never to hit a woman, but you are pushing my limits.”

“Funny, my father told me the same thing. Would you like me to apologize?”

“Third, if you ever interrupt me again, Liam Alec Callahan, may God have mercy on your soul when I send you to meet him.”
The banter between these two was one of my favorite parts of this book. Mel is one cold and ruthless bitch. This is definitely not a book for everybody. But I gobbled it up like a starving junky.
Say you’re sorry and I will free you now, love, and then we can start anew”

He was trying to break me, the fucker.
“Fuck you and the Audi you drove up in.”
This is no ordinary power couple. The things that both of them do is certainly not for the faint of heart. But hey, you’re reading about the 2 heads of powerful mafia families. You didn’t expect kittens and rainbows, did you?
Rule Two: Take no prisoners and have no regrets about it.
I was sucked into the story from the first chapter. The action, the banter, the characters. Everything about this book worked for me. Did I also mention the banter?
Declan leaned into me. “When she wakes up in the morning, the devil curses.”
“We both do,” I muttered.

Rule Three: Just because you sell drugs for a living isn’t an excuse not to dress well.
A couple that tortures together, stays together. And the fact that they’re both gorgeous and burn up the sheets with some of the best angry sex you’ll ever read? Icing on the murder cake.
Rule Four: No bloody divorce.
But with a ruthless powerhouse couple like these two, why would you even think that?
Fucking Jesus, Liam.”

“Not even he can save you from this now.”
Quick paced, action packed, erotic, gritty, and addicting as fuck. There is a cliffhanger, but it wasn’t as bad as most you’ll find in books now. It ended in a satisfying enough way that even my cliffhanger avoiding ass didn’t end up in a tizzy.
Writing Style First person POV (Dual, with a few instances of other POV’s thrown in). I actually really enjoyed the additional POVs. Typically I’d find something like that confusing, but I really felt it added to the story in this case.

So tell us how you got the idea for the book? Also inquiring minds want to know; any news on the release dates for the next 2 books? If Ruthless People were to be made into a movie, who’d be your dream cast?

I’ve been asked this so many times I wish I had a more polished answer. The truth is Ruthless People had been bubbling up in the back of my head for months if not years. I was inspired by a mixture of television shows and books I had either watched or read. However I grew annoyed with never seeing a woman be strong and not in the emotional/family strength type of way. I wanted a kickass heroine. The ones I did find in stories were either never central to the plot or explained in detail. So I listed out all the things I wanted my heroine to be…somehow I got Melody. Ruthless People is sort of centered around her effect on the “family”.
After what happened at the end of Ruthless People…you can only imagine how Melody is going to have to change and adapt. Book 2 and 3 will be just pure chaos. I hope that they will both be out soon, however I have no idea when that will be. Right now in doing some major edits to the second book. But I’m so happy you and everyone is excited for The Untouchables.
My not sure who my dream cast is yet and don’t hold it to me but, I know I like Jaimie Alexander for Melody
and
For Liam either Garret Hedlund or Ian Somerhalder
Wait for Liam–

Review, Guest Post Character Interview & #Giveaway: ☆Until Alex☆ by J. Nathan

On the outside, Hayden is every girl’s living breathing fantasy, brooding and devastatingly gorgeous. He spends his nights losing himself in alcohol and faceless girls, but it’s all just a facade. An elaborate cover for the emotionless shell of a man he is. One who harbors too many secrets and destroys lives the way his was destroyed. It’s the reason he avoids relationships and keeps everyone at arm’s length…

Until Alex

Alex’s life just shattered into a million pieces, leaving her with more grief than she knows what to do with and guilt so deep it’s destroyed the carefree girl she once was. Now she’s hundreds of miles from home, living with an aunt she doesn’t know, finishing senior year at a college she’s never been to, and trying desperately to get through a single day without breaking down. She’s never felt more alone in her life…

Until Hayden

The trouble with Hayden is who he wants to be and who he is are in constant flux. And though he’d die before letting Alex learn the truth about him, he can’t be sure he’s strong enough to let her in…or push her away. She’s the one person who just might see the real him.

Sometimes a book comes along that equal parts takes you by surprise and captivates you. This was one of those books to me. I want everyone to know about the pure awesome that is the writing of J. Nathan, so read below and see for yourself 😉
Review4.5 stars

I never thought that would happen for me. I always thought I deserved what no one else wanted.
Until Alex.

When I finished this book, I had to go back and make sure that I read it right because I couldn’t believe this amazing story was a debut novel. Wow. Just wow. If you’re looking for an incredibly emotional and angsty NA book with endearingly broken characters, a heartbreaking and heart-melting love story, and fantastic writing…You. Need. To. Read. This. Book. You will be hooked from the epilogue alone.

Hayden is the ultimate bad boy. He has the looks and the attitude that attracts women to him like no other. But beneath the surface of the womanizing, brooding and cocky playboy, is a dark secret and a past that plagues his every thought and makes him keep everyone at arms length. He’s not looking for a relationship or anything lasting. Just alcohol and countless of faceless girls that he can lose himself in for a few moments to drown out the memories.

If I learned one thing from my messed up life, it was that you didn’t let people in, and you didn’t let your emotions out. You couldn’t. I wondered if I even had any. Emotions that is. Because if you asked me, life had hardened me beyond repair.

But then she moves in down the hall. A girl who cries quietly every day outside. A girl he has no business paying attention to. Alex.

But just like Hayden, Alex is not what she seems to be beneath the surface. She’s running. Running from a devastating event that forever changed the course of her life. She’s running for the memories and the constant reminders of her pain.

How ironic that the one person that manages to drown out the memories for her is the brooding and mysterious Hayden.

But as much as Alex is determined to get to know Hayden, Hayden is just as determined to keep her at arm’s length.

I hated myself in that moment for not being able to control that part of me. The fucked-up part that kept people at a distance. It was a defense mechanism. My very own alarm system that kicked in when things got too uncomfortable, or in this case, too close to being normal.

The relationship between them is a very slow burn. But it’s also perfectly written, in my opinion, as it gives you the time to truly get invested in both the MCs AND their relationship. It gives you the time to really understand them. It gives you the time to really fall for them.

With each details of Hayden’s past coming to light, your heart just breaks for him all the more. As hard as he tries to stay away from Alex, his fight is already lost the second he lays eyes on her. But don’t get me wrong, this was no insta-love…or insta-anything. Their road to being together is filled with angst filled bumps that will tear at every heart string you have.

I don’t know what this is. This thing between us. But I really need it.

Even at times when Hayden truly fucks up and you want to throttle him for his decisions, you still can’t help but love him.

I will do whatever it takes to make you forget. I’ll say whatever you need me to say. Go wherever you need me to go. And I’ll be whoever you need me to be.

This is definitely more PG13, so don’t expect a lot of steam here. Now typically I am NOT a reader that reads PG13 anything, but the story here just captivated me. The little steam that there was was satisfying while still leaving you wanting more…but in a good way.

He kissed me like he needed me to breathe.

This is not just a NA Romance novel, it’s so much more than that. It’s about second chances, finding your inner strength, and facing your darkest demons. I was glued to my kindle until the very last page. I eagerly anticipate ANY future books by this author. J. Nathan is going straight to my auto-buy list.

MOTIVATION FOR UNTIL ALEX

When I was in my early twenties, I wrote a screenplay. I worked on it relentlessly, confident that if it just got into the right hands, it could go somewhere. Then, somehow, the fates aligned. Drew Barrymore read it! I know, dream come true, right? And wait for it…she actually liked it! Unfortunately, her production company partner, who just so happens to be Jimmy Fallon’s wife, gave me a painful dose of reality and passed on it. Ten years and plenty of rejection letters later, the screenplay remains on a flash drive in my desk drawer.

Needless to say, I lost the motivation to write. It seemed like a losing battle. Too much time and effort spent on something no one would ever see…

Then, a year and a half ago, I had one of the most vivid dreams I’d ever had. It was about a girl who moved in with her aunt after suffering a horrific tragedy. She befriended a standoffish neighbor, who for some reason put her at ease, and they grew close—until others threatened their friendship. That’s when he intentionally hurt her to keep her safe. But, as hard as he tried to stay away, there was an undeniable connection between them, one that could not be ignored. From there, a slow, yet well-deserved romance ensued.

Upon waking up from that dream, I immediately wrote down everything I could remember (while still in bed). I ended up with three pages of sloppy handwritten notes. Throughout the day, I couldn’t stop thinking about those two broken souls and their story, so I added three more pages of notes. If you check out my website under About Self Publishing, you can see them.

Those sloppy notes served as the perfect outline for my first novel. After a year and a half—and many tweaks later—Until Alex was completed. My husband forced me to do something with it so it didn’t end up like my screenplay tucked away in some drawer. Thank goodness for self-publishing because I would have never been able to endure another set of rejection letters!

Tweaks I made to Until Alex worth noting:

Hayden: His original name was Aiden, but having two main characters with a name starting with A, especially when Alex’s name could be a guy’s name, seemed like it could get confusing.

The Title: The not-so-original, original title was Aiden and Alex. I know, I know. Then I got creative and changed it to Alex and Hayden. Yup. I’m very clever. I came up with Until Alex right before I started sending out ARC’s.

The competition: Alex originally tried out for the musical Legally Blonde instead of a singing competition. But it ruined the timeline of the story since play preparations take months, and I didn’t want to jump weeks. I hate stories that do that. I don’t want to miss time with the characters. I want to live every moment with them.

YA versus NA: Initially, this story was about seniors in high school. But because I primarily read new adult novels, I wanted to write something my friends and I would be more apt to read.

The Prologue: Thanks to my wonderful editor Stephanie Elliot, I changed the initial prologue. I only wrote the scene with Hayden’s father a couple months ago. Originally, I had the flashback of what happened in the alley as the prologue (instead of spreading it throughout the first few chapters). But Stephanie pointed out that she hated Hayden in the beginning because of the prologue. I knew I needed to find something that would make people feel compassion for him, understand his distance from others, and love him as much as I did. Hence, the new prologue, which so many readers have noted is what made them read the book. To think it almost didn’t exist…

DREAM CAST

When I read, I don’t really see a character in my mind. It’s more of the idea of them. Their qualities, flaws, maybe their eyes. But usually they’re “faceless.” So trying to cast my characters is really tough.

I love your casting on Goodreads for the leads! Those models definitely fit what I was going for. I particularly like the Hayden with the words “I would’ve given anything…” on it. My fave! Sooo Hayden!

I used to watch E! News religiously. But being a mom to a four year old, a high school English teacher, an avid reader, and a when-I-have-time writer, I’m totally out of the hot actors and actresses under 25 loop. But if I had to choose actors and actresses to bring my characters to life, these are some I may consider (knowing their ages are a little off).

Interview with Hayden

What’s your greatest flaw?

My anger. I normally can’t control it which makes me volatile. My “friends” understand when I go quiet and need to excuse myself from a situation. They don’t know the true cause of it, where it stems from, but they respect my mood swings and my privacy. Remy’s the only one who really gets me.

What do you think others think of you?

Girls want to sleep with me, guys want to be me, and this girl who just moved into my building thinks I’m some kind of miracle worker. For the record, she’s fucking delusional.

Would you consider yourself a lucky guy?

On the outside? Yes. Different girls all the time, a friend who’d stand by me no matter what, my own apartment and truck, good looks—I’m not conceited, but when you hear it enough, you’ve got to believe it, right? But all that shit’s just superficial. If people really knew me, knew the truth about me and what I’d been through, they’d know I have shit for luck. No one, and I mean no one(except Remy of course), looks out for me but me. Anything that happens is because I make it happen. Fuck luck.

You mention you’ve been through some stuff. What in your past would you most want to forget?

All. Of. It.

Do you consider yourself a romantic guy?

(His narrowed eyes and creased forehead answer for him)

I’m sure the ladies are curious; do you have a preference, blondes, redheads, or brunettes?

For a long time, it didn’t matter. If she was a willing female, she was for me. But lately, I’m more into brunettes.

Colors say a lot about a person. Do you have a favorite?

Green. Like the color of tropical fish.

Care to elaborate?

Nope.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?

One word. Jake’s.

If you could be stranded on a deserted island with one person, who would it be and why?

(He considers the question for a long time before answering)

My neighbor Alex. For some strange reason, I want to be the guy she thinks I am. In a situation where I’d normally flip the fuck out, she calms me down. It’s inexplicable, but this girl I barely know brings out the best in me. I would do whatever it took to help her survive and get her off that island.(His brows squished together) Would we have clothes? Because if not, that would make this situation a whole lot more interesting. (His dimples popped)

If someone were to write your life story, what are two things you’d want them to make clear?

I’m not this bad boy people think I am. I got the reputation because I hang with Remy. Now I can’t seem to shake it. I guess I’ve never really done anything to try because it keeps people away.

Some might say I’ve got daddy issues. Damn straight I do. I mean, how could I not? Mine screwed me up beyond repair. But I don’t blame anything I say or do on him. I make my own choices, pave my own path. Yeah, I chose my job which was a dumbass decision, but it was mine to make.

I am who I am. Love me or hate me.

About the Author

I’m an avid reader of all things romance-especially those with alpha males. The more unlikable they are in the beginning, the better. Happy endings are a must. Don’t leave me with an unexpected cliffhanger or someone dying in the end. I’ll mope around and be too embarrassed to explain why. Love triangles and negative people are the bane of my existence. My family, friends, sangria, and watermelon margaritas are the light…

Review, Guest Post, & #Giveaway: ☆To Professor, With Love☆ by @lindakage

*new adult romance*
**explicit scenes and language**

Junior in college. Star athlete. Constant attention from the opposite sex.

On this campus, I’m worshiped. While seven hundred miles away, back in my hometown, I’m still trailer park trash, child of the town tramp, and older sibling to three kids who are counting on me to keep my shit together so I can take them away from the same crappy life I grew up in.

These two opposing sides of myself never mix until one person gets a glimpse of the true me. I never expected to connect with anyone like this or want more beyond one night. This may be the real deal.

Problem is, Dr. Kavanagh’s my literature professor.

If I start anything with a teacher and we’re caught together, I might as well kiss my entire future goodbye, as well as my family’s, and especially Dr. Kavanagh’s. Except sometimes love is worth risking everything. Or at least, it damn well better be because I can only resist so much.

I wanted a perfect ending. Now I’ve learned, the hard way, that some poems don’t rhyme, and some stories don’t have a clear beginning, middle, and end.

Have you ever read a book that you simply couldn’t put down for the life of you? A book that was so wonderfully written, it not only completely drew you into the story…it made you feel? I’m talking made you feel every heart palpitation, pulse pounding, anxious, nail biting, so full of sexual tension you think you might burst moment along with the characters? Because I swear to you, that’s what this book did to me. I devoured it. Me! The girl that lives for my dirty smut and actually does a search for the word “cock” in my books to make sure it’s dirty enough. (What? You don’t do that?) I got so engrossed in this forbidden love story that I forgot about the smut. Well…I mean…not entirely. It IS NA after all, and the sexual chemistry here is just perfect.

My favorite part of a love story is that burn. You know the one I’m talking about. It’s this palpable sexual tension that stretches for so long you think you might burst. But then BOOM, when it finally does happen, it’s just that much more satisfying. There’s plenty of books out there that will use sex as a filler, as opposed to the icing on the cake that’s supposed to be the book. And in my humble opinion, Linda Kage had the perfect recipe here. I adored this book. I loved it. HARD.

If you’ve stayed away from teacher/romance stories in the past, but wanted to dip your toes, THIS is the book the you start with. This was such a unique, wonderfully written spin on a forbidden love. There wasn’t a big age difference (barely any). But what I loved the most, was that the student here was (pause for dramatic effect) MALE.

Ladies, prepare to swoon and fall hard for Noel Gamble.

Noel seemingly has it all; he’s the star quarterback, has his pick of women, and a scholarship to a great university. All he has to do to keep it is make sure that he maintains his GPA. But there’s one problem that stands in his way; a problem of the 5 foot 4, green eyed, uptight bitch, yet slightly alluring variety. His Literature professor, Dr. Kavanagh.

There’s nothing better to me than a book where I fall for both the characters. Dr. Kavanagh may have come off rigid and bitchy at first, but her internal monologue never failed to make me smile. She had such a quirky and endearingly innocent personality, it was impossible not to love her.

It must be some internal, natural selection thing I couldn’t control. Survival of the fittest lured me into gravitating toward the strongest, healthiest, most attractive male in the pack who seemed most appropriate for reproduction of the species. After watching those two sluts maul him after class a few minutes ago, I knew he had to be good for some scintillating reproductive activities.

But beneath her frumpy clothing and uptight exterior, is a vulnerable young girl that finds herself attracted to someone that is most certainly forbidden.

The way both of them constantly fought the attraction between them kept me turning the pages in anticipation for that moment where one or both of them would finally give in.

Her mouth was going to be my downfall. If she asked me, I would probably take her on her nice, clean desk right then and there. I could so clearly see myself tossing her down, gathering up her frumpy skirt, wedging myself between her thighs and just hammering it home. I also wanted to wrap my hands around her throat and strangle her for making me feel like such an idiot. It probably wasn’t healthy to have two such drastic emotions roaring through me at the same moment, but there they were. Absolutely roaring.

Noel wasn’t your typical manwhoring jock, but so so much more. He was utter perfection. he was this delectable combination of sweet, vulnerable, and sexy.

The chemistry that between him and Aspen are slowly brewed to the point where it’s practically boiling. Gawd but it was delicious. It was simply lust, it went so much deeper.

She was the frumpy, genius professor hiding romantic hopes and dreams. I was the stud playboy football star working my ass off to save my poor, broke family. What a pair we made. And what an ass I felt like. She wasn’t just some piece of fruit I wanted to sample because she was forbidden. She was a lot deeper than I had ever imagined.

As hard as both of them fight the attraction, it soon proves too strong for both of them. But the way that it’s written never made it seem illicit or dirty. And the vulnerability of both these characters is what truly captivates you.

I fully realize this thing between us is doomed, okay. I know we can never…
“We might not stand a chance, but I can’t stop thinking about you. I can’t stop craving that connection we share. It’s so fucking strong, I’ve been willing to… God, I would do anything for little stolen pieces of you, Aspen.

The book kept me on the edge of my seat equal parts waiting for and dreading that moment for the other shoe to drop. Linda Kage teases and tortures you with different hints of how it may all go down. But I can honestly say that the way it did, I never saw coming.

I went through a ringer of emotions; I swooned, I cried, my heart hurt. It was simply wonderful. I’m not sure how it is that I’m only now discovering this author, but I’ll be rectifying this immediately by reading Price of a Kiss (especially since both the characters from that book make an appearance here).

I’m so happy that Linda will be continuing this series with Pick’s book next. I’m already salivating to get my grabby little hands on that book.

But let’s sum it up with this; do I recommend this book?
FUCK. YES.
I can’t recommend it enough. Read it and experience for yourself what sent me into a gushing fangirling episode.

LISA JAYNE’S REVIEW

FOUR FORBIDDEN STARS.
“knotted together until I didn’t know where I ended and he began, we made love.”
description

When I got the opportunity to read and review this up and coming novel I can gladly admit that I was more than just a little excited, in fact I was nothing short of ecstatic. ‘Price of a kiss’ was one of my favourite reads of last year and it started an addiction to an author that I knew I could no longer ignore. ‘To professor, with love’ is a novel that is deliciously tempting with an edge of taboo that I’m sure will make most readers enjoy their time spent with this novel. I’m certainly impressed once again by Linda Kage, here’s the rest of my thoughts …

What’s it all about?
Popular and talented star quarterback, Noel Gamble works hard, lives his dream and will do anything to provide for those that he loves most. He is determined that everything he has worked for must amount to making a new life for his siblings that he has left back in his hometown, a ugly life that he wants them all to escape from. Dr Aspen Kavanagh is a professor that is not as confident as her stern attitude and ugly business suits would suggest, inside is a woman begging to be loved and after living a loveless life nothing could be more tempting than an attraction that feels like it could be more. When aspen and Noel’s lives collide they could never have anticipated that they would find what they need in each other, but with everything on the line this couple have to make the decision to give into temptation or walk away from a undeniable connection that could forever change their lives.

What did I love?
Firstly, I love this authors writing style. I think by now it’s obvious that I’m a fan of the talented, Linda Kage. This author always manages to take me away on a love-story journey that is easy to escape into and equally easy to love. ‘To professor, with love’ was filled with romance, steam and forbidden love with a twist of heart break and depth that made it a charming story. The characters were believable and easy to read about. There’s no mistaking that this author has a talent for writing heroes that make the heart go faster and this time around she kept the humour at bay with her vulnerable and ever so charming heroine. Everything about the story line and developing story was well thought out and I even had a delightful second chance look into the lives of Mason and Reese from book one which certainly didn’t harm the enjoyment factor. The chemistry and slow burn build up towards the attraction scored points for my reading experience and it certainly wasn’t an anti climax once the characters finally made the decision to get down and dirty. I also adored the quotes that Linda added into the book at the beginning of each chapter and throughout the story, I found myself looking forward to what would come next, it’s adorably clever that each quote connected somehow to the content of the chapters. Overall this book was a winning combination of love, romance, steam and storyline, Linda Kage has done it again readers.

Why not five?
This book most certainly had five star quality stamped all over it, there were moments that I adored and I was highlighting my treasured kindle like crazy but with that being said as much love as I have for Linda Kage and her forbidden men series when I compared this novel to the first book in the series ‘Price of a Kiss’ it didn’t quite reach the same enjoyment level. I felt like I missed out on the humour, wit and laid back writing style of book one and sadly I didn’t connect to the storyline as much as I have with this authors previous novels. However, this book still reached a loveable four star status and I haven’t got much to complain about. Linda Kage writes books that I’ll always reach out to read and I’m more than happy that I spent my time with this heartfelt story about love being found in forbidden places. I’d whole heartedly recommend this novel to those that have enjoyed this authors previous work and if you are new to this author, then do not think twice about reading this likeable story and meeting a hero that will unquestionably stay in your heart.

Final thoughts …
As a reader I never gravitate to towards stories involving teacher/student relationships, but here Linda Kage has created a story that captured my affection and love. I never felt uncomfortable with the authors content, instead she got me wrapped up in a love story that left me wanting more. This is a series that I’m excited to see develop and I’m more than ready to read more about this authors addictive characters. If you like to fall for the heroes in your books and you enjoy the new adult genre then this series should not be missed. Go grab this book on release day I can guarantee you will not regret time spent with the delicious, Noel Gamble. Enjoy … Kisses.

Curious about what’s next for the Forbidden Men series? Read on for a special guest post from Linda Kage

And don’t forget to enter the giveaway for your chance to win an ebook copy of To Professor, With Love

Forbidden Men.

There are two reasons I named the series Forbidden Men, and they’re pretty obvious! First of all, every featured hero will at some point be an employee of the Forbidden Nightclub.
But my favorite aspect is that each story will have a forbidden romance in it. I just love a plot where the hero and heroine are prohibited from being together.
And we’re about to go through all kinds of illicit affairs, from one hero lusting after his best friend’s little sister to another hero kind of already being married when he finally meets his soul mate. Then I had to throw in that age-old gigolo hero (bet you can’t tell which story that was!) along with a student/teacher relationship. And one fair heroine falls flat in love with her forbidden man on the day her asks her to accompany him to the jewelry store so she can help him pick out an engagement ring…for her roommate!
Right now, I have three more additions in the works to add to the series. So, if everything goes according to my evil plans (fingers crossed), the series should hopefully look a little like this:
Book 1 – Price of a Kiss – featuring Mason
Book 2 – To Professor, with Love – featuring Noel
Book 3 – Be My Hero – featuring Pick
Book 4 – With Every Heart Beat – featuring Quinn
Book 5 – A Perfect Ten – featuring…yep, Ten!
Each story will be a standalone, but they’ll also tie into the books around them, so you could read them either in order or totally out of order!

Excerpt

“Want something to drink?”

“Um. Sure.”

He descended to his kitchen and returned with two beers. He handed her one and slid back into bed, propping pillows behind them, one arm around her. Keeping the conversation carefully off his past, they talked about his house, his neighbor, the weather. When he pressed kisses over her skin anywhere he could reach, her shoulder, the side of her neck, breathing in her scent, she giggled.

It was a sound he hadn’t heard enough of from her. He liked it. He tipped her chin up. “What’s so funny?”

She slanted a grin at him over her shoulder. “Your mouth is cold. And the beers reminded me of an old joke.”

He lifted one eyebrow, smiling back at her, delighted by her amusement.

“How you impress a woman,” she continued. “By complimenting her, kissing her, cuddling her. Send her flowers, hold her, wine her and dine her.”

“Uh huh.” He waited.

“And how you impress a man is―show up naked…with beer.”

He laughed. “Hmm. Works for me.”

Her eyes widened. “Hey. I have a case of wine in the trunk of my car.”

He grinned and stroked a strand of hair off her face. “Why do you have a case of wine in your trunk?”

“I don’t even remember now. But I’ll go get a bottle. It’s a really nice Cabernet Franc. I can give you a wine tasting lesson. Naked.” She shot him a sexy smile as he watched her roll out of bed and reach for her clothes.

He loved that idea.

“Don’t get dressed,” he said, following her out of bed. “I’ll go get the wine.”

So she grabbed his shirt instead of her own clothes and he stepped into a pair of loose sweat pants. In his shirt, big and loose on her slender frame, her hair tangled around her shoulders, lips kiss-swollen and eyes smudgy, she looked so goddamn sexy he wanted to tackle her and throw her back onto the bed and tie her up forever. Instead, he led the way down to his kitchen where her purse sat on the counter. She handed him the keys to her car with a smile and waited at the door as he retrieved the bottle.

He held it up as he came back into the kitchen. “I don’t have wine, but I do have wine glasses.” He opened the cupboard and pulled out two stemmed glasses.

“A corkscrew?” she asked, peeling off the wrapping on the top of the bottle. He pulled that out of a drawer too, and she handed the wine to him.

He let her pour the wine into the glasses, a deep ruby-plum color. She gave the glass a small, expert swirl, held it to her nose, then sipped it.

“You’re not going to spit it out, are you?” he asked. He didn’t know much about wine, but seemed to remember that tasting wine didn’t involve swallowing it.

“No, I’m not going to spit it out.” She gave him a flirty smile. “I’d rather swallow than spit.”

Jesus, Kendall Vioget had just made a dirty joke, with enough innuendo that his balls tightened. Nice.

Guest Post

Here’s a little something extra for all my dirty birds 🙂 I had asked Kelly what was her favorite scene to write, and she was kind enough to share
Thanks so much for having me here, Dirty Girl, to talk about my latest release, You Really Got Me!
My favorite scene to write in You Really Got Me was the opening scene. But there’s a bit of a story to that, and I’ll share the “out take” in a few minutes.
That opening scene actually got written last. The entire book had been written, with the story originally starting with the line “You can’t have a wedding without a bride.” (Which is still an awesome opening line!) But I felt we needed to see some of the history between Kendall and Jason, rather than just “hear” about it after the fact, so we would really know how intense things were between them.
I wrote the scene – but the first version of it was in Kendall’s point of view. We were experiencing it through her. I still think it’s a great scene and very intense, but my editor felt it was too intense for the opening scene, when we didn’t even know the characters. I wasn’t sure how to fix it, and my friend and blog mate PG Forte read the first three chapters and said, “I’d like to hear more from Jason and his point of view early in the book.”
Ah-ha! What would happen if I re-wrote the scene from Jason’s point of view? So I tried that. I had to cut some of it out, but this did seem to solve a few problems.
Readers have commented on how hot that scene is…here’s some of the original version.

The room had gone silent, the music stopped, but then faint tones began, slowly growing louder, ethereal vocals she recognized as Musica Eternal by Dead Can Dance.

“What happened to that playlist I made you?” she asked breathlessly. “You know…The Righteous Brothers. Rolling Stones.”

“You don’t like my music?” Amusement shaded his voice.

She swiped her tongue over her bottom lip. It wasn’t that she didn’t like it. It was more that the haunting notes seemed to vibrate inside her, evoking feelings she couldn’t even identify. She breathed in again the smell of the candles mingled with Jason’s own scent from the bedclothes, a clean woodsy fragrance already so familiar to her. A whisper of sound signaled his movement around the room, and then his hands touched her body. He held her waist, slid his hands up her ribcage, grazing the outer curves of her breasts, then glided them back down. His fingers trailed up between her breasts. Sensation wrapped around her, a dark shimmer, and then his mouth joined his hands in exploration of her body.

The gentle pleasure lulled her and she began to float, aware only of her own body and the sensations surrounding her. Every nerve ending hummed as Jason’s fingers and mouth and tongue teased her, slowly, in tempo with the music. Her breasts ached and yet he didn’t touch them, nor did he touch between her legs for a long time, just stroking over her limbs, dragging his tongue between her breasts while one hand gently cupped her throat. The music rose and fell around them and she heard Jason’s soft sounds of pleasure.

“Christ, you’re beautiful,” he murmured kissing the inner curve of one breast. His fingers teased her bellybutton and shivers rippled over her skin. More pressure zoomed low in her belly, a desperate aching need. She drew in a breath.

A thrill of feminine power ran through her. She felt so sexy and desired. She’d never felt like this with anyone else. This wasn’t so bad…
