The heart is stubborn. It holds onto love despite what sense and emotion tells it. And it is often, in the battle of those three, the most brilliant of all.

Sex Love Repeat by Alessandra Torre

That quote up there? That’s the quote that first started my obsession with all things Alessandra Torre. See here’s the thing; I hate…no…I LOATHE love triangles in any way, shape or form and yet something about that book’s synopsis grabbed me. And you know what? To this day, the ONLY and I mean THE ONLY exception I will ever make to my NO LOVE TRIANGLES EVER rule will be for this amazing author. Though do keep in mind that Sex Love Repeat is not exactly a love triangle in traditional terms, but what it is is an incredible book.
After I finished Sex Love Repeat I binged on Alessandra’s entire backlist. I completely devoured it. And you know what I love the most about her writing? The unpredictability of it. The woman is an evil genius is what she is. She writes unapologetically sexual heroines, unforgettable alpha males, and some of the most scorching hot erotic love scenes I have ever read. If you’ve read any of her books then you know exactly what I mean. And if you haven’t? I’m not sure what you’re looking for. Trust me. You’ll thank me for it.

I’m so excited to have Alessandra Torre at Dirty Girl Romance today so that I may pick the pervy awesome that is her brain. Thank you for joining us, Alessandra 🙂

DGR: For readers that haven’t yet (shockingly) discovered your books, can you introduce yourself?

AT: Absolutely! My name is Alessandra Torre, I am a NYT Bestselling author who focuses on full-length, standalone erotic romances. I am addicted to plot twists and am allergic to boring reads. J If you’re looking for a book to start with, I’d suggest Black Lies or Sex Love Repeat.

DGR: I have to say, each and every single one of your books has always blown my mind for different reasons. You never cease to surprise your readers with some incredibly original and slightly mindfucky (yes, I’m making that a word) books. Where do you get your ideas from? Anything that you get inspiration from?
AT: Secrets are my obsession. I have a very active imagination and will look at someone and try to imagine their secrets, the details about their lives that make them unique. Try to imagine if everything isn’t as it seems. Those inner ideas of mine, if chased down and followed through, often lead to a book idea.

DGR: Having read pretty much your entire backlist, I have to ask; what was your favorite book to write?
AT: Dumont Diaries was probably the most enjoyable to write. Because I wrote it as a miniseries, and released one part every two weeks, it was a very exciting period in time, where the words I was writing would be delivered into reader’s hands just a few weeks later. I had a great time with it.
DGR: Have you always wanted to be an author? What would you be doing if you weren’t writing?
AT: I never thought about writing. Didn’t even consider the possibility that I had talent at it. I was a reader, read 6-7 books a day for over fifteen years. The best book I ever read was On Writing by Stephen King. That book made me want to pick up a pen and give writing a chance. I did – and six weeks later, Blindfolded Innocence was done!

If I wasn’t writing, I would be an assisting my husband in his company. In the past I’ve worked in banking and as a secretary.

DGR: Who are some of your favorite authors?

AT: Lisa Gardner, Stieg Larsson, Gillian Flynn, CD Reiss

DGR: Can you tell us your top 5 favorite books?
AT:  The Client (John Grisham)
The Help (Kathryn Stockett)
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Stieg Larsson)
Dark Places (Gillian Flynn)
On Writing (Stephen King)

DGR: Let’s talk about Black Lies for a hot second here because OMG Black Lies. What gave you the idea to write a book like that? Was it a sudden idea or were you thinking on it for a while?
AT: I originally had the idea to make the Brant character a woman, and have the book written from her POV. Then I was imagining the type of guy who would date her, and what he would think and experience, and I realized that that story was just as, or even more, interesting. So I flipflopped the book. I had the idea for the book about two months before I wrote it and it plagued me. I had to clear off my writing calendar and did so as quickly as I could because my brain was itching to dive into it.

DGR: Can you describe Black Lies in 5 words?
AT: Deceptive. Secretive. Filthy. Sexual. Mindfuck.

DGR: Now on to the important questions here; the sex scenes (pause for pervy flashbacks). And I’m back! You’ve written some incredibly hot and erotic love scenes. Inquiring minds want to know, where does the inspiration for THAT come from? 😉
AT: Lots of fantasies during sex and masturbation. If there’s anything that makes me particular hot, I’ll try and work that into a scene. I find that forbidden or taboo elements in a scene make it hotter, as do strong emotions, good or bad ones.

DGR: I have an unhealthy obsession with Sons of Anarchy. As in I take it way too seriously and rage and bitch at my TV after every episode. Any shows that you’re addicted to?
AT: Nashville, Blacklist, The Bridge, Forensic Files are my crack. 🙂

DGR: Anything you’d like to leave the readers with?
AT: Just know that your opinion is so invaluable to other readers. One of the greatest thing about reading is to discuss it with others. The internet gives us an amazing platform for that, use it. And please know that I appreciate you, more than you will ever know. THANK YOU for giving my books a chance when there are a million other options out there. THANK YOU for leaving reviews. THANK YOU for discussing and spreading the word about my, and other author’s books. THANK YOU for loving my characters as your own. I truly appreciate it.

And thank you, Lana – for having me on your site!!!!
